Better contacts for NX-8 Security System
« on: July 28, 2018, 09:18:52 pm »
I recently installed a new NX-8 security system. It worked fine except for a false alarm on one of the SECO-LARM contacts.

I couldn't find any reason for the alarm being triggered until I took resistance readings at the data terminals as suggested by the store advisor. The reading showed values twice as high (7.5K) as they should have been even though the connections looked good.

Once I took the cover out however, it was obvious that the + data terminal did not have a good connection. Once it was reconnected firmly, the reading dropped to 3.5K. Hopefully the problem is solved but I, for one, find the terminal connectors on the SECO-LARM contacts a little hard to use.

I like the way sentrol/edwards signaling teminal connection is wired up but it's too pricey.
