Hiding certain devices and switches from different users
« on: May 22, 2012, 10:29:36 pm »
Is there a way to be able to have different login details so when a user logins they can’t use or see certain devices or switches that an administrator might see? I don’t want everybody to be able to turn off the fridge or switch on security systems for example. Then I would just need different login password for each iVera app

It works, put points to the OP's cross-post on the iVera board?
Dezwaved at the moment...

Yes...  I wish it were more helpful, but it's at least as useful as cross-posting.

Yep, you both sound like I will not be a spammer suckers so you should get together and I will not swear each other instead of I am a waste of space with me. Condescending pricks.

What?!?  I caught the last sentence.  The rest is beyond me.  ???

If I understand your original post, you're asking if there are "user" and "admin" access levels to iVera...?

No.

@binburra, please post cleanly in the public forums here.

@DeltaNu1142,
The poster used a series of swear words (etc).
You can reverse-substitute the following phrases for appropriate swear words and/or words commonly used by the spammers...
  • I will not be a spammer
  • I will not swear
  • I am a waste of space

Ahhh.  I can't believe I haven't been here long enough to have seen that before--or maybe it's just that everyone else on this board has better control of their emotions.  Either way...  thanks.

We used to have less control over account creation, so there were multiple spammers/day, hawking all sorts of stuff.  I added a long (long!) list of string substitutions that could catch common items, and make it less interesting for them to spam us.  It also made them a whole lot easier to find in search engines in order to cleanup the mess, and add the appropriate bans.

I also added a ton of common swear words... just to keep it clean.

I think this is the first time so many have triggered in a single posting... presumably because most people use Preview before posting.

Didn't see this style since I visited LinuxMCE forums few years back :)

Sorry about the disruption folks, I had set their Ban to 24hrs, after receipt of complaints relating to the language being used.

It would have expired, but they then went in and used their Corporate account to create a new account, and again posted using  language inappropriate for this forum, so their ban got upgraded to permanent.

They can lobby MCV et-al (via Email) to get their access back.

Hopefully we'll not see that again.

The few years that I have been a member on this forum, this is the first time I have seen someone act like this. Most if not everyone on this forum has been great.

And I'll add to that, that AFAIK no posts/topics are being removed except for spam.
