[_CODE_] Yamaha RX-Vx800 Plug-In available
« on: June 30, 2012, 02:39:04 pm »
Introduction
The Yamaha Receiver Plug-In for Vera allows you to remotely control several receivers models from your Vera dashboard. Your receiver must be connected to your network using an Ethernet-to-serial (RS232) adapter. The plug-in supports around 200 discrete commands and makes various status information items available to Vera (not all commands are exposed in the user interface).

Link: http://code.mios.com/trac/mios_yamaha-plugin

Supported Receivers
  • Yamaha RX-V3800
  • Yamaha RX-V1800 (untested)
  • Yamaha HTR-6190 (untested)

Other
The plug-in itself might not be that interesting to many people, however there's a little JavaScript utility bundled in there that allows you to manage Vera plug-in UIs with HTML pages and output the static JSON. I found this very handy when I was creating the plug-in and continuously made little tweaks to the layout. You can find the script in the "util" folder and there's more information on the plug-in wiki (see above).

Enjoy,

Hmm, I recently purchased a Yamaha HTR7065 which connects directly to my network via it's built-in ethernet jack. It can be controlled via the Yamaha Iphone/Android app so I'm wondering if your plug-in would work with it. Unfortunately you mention 'must be connected via ethernet to serial adapter).

any ideas? Thanks!

I'm guessing this won't work, but that is a pure guess. The models the plug-in supports all have a serial port on the back and the plug-in talks using that protocol. I haven't looked at how the newer models communicate and what that protocol is. If you happen to have any documentation, I could have a look and estimate at least if it's feasible to make this work.

I have the documentation for the protocols....I have been trying to control my rx-v671 but I don't have the skills or the time to figure it out.

I have an RX-A3010 that is already on the network.  I'm using UI5 and would like to try this plugin out.  How can I install it on UI5?

I do not think anyone has done a network API connection yet. An RS-232 port is available.
The network protocol for these has commands described by a proprietary XML schema.
The command sets are usually the same for both RS-232 and NET ... I started to do a plugin ... but did not finish it because I have other devices that were only controllable from IR ... so I am IR all the way.
