Vera is not dead. It is most likely that MCV is spending much of their time working with OEM's that they have deals with (which recently was announced that they have some huge partnerships with). Versions of the firmware have progressed, but only on the private front.

So bad the "private" versions are note getting a bit public.
If we see eedomus / zipabox we get updates about at least once a week.... Why not on Vera....?

You really don't want them.  I updated my Vera to the last private Beta (3 months ago) and it's caused havoc on my Vera.... Including Daily reboots (not just restarts, but Linux reboots), and broken Leviton scene controllers.

MCV has not been able to fix the problems in all that time, so I don't recommend being in a rush to uptake the private releases.

As much as I want enhancements and bug fixes, I want stability overall. But I know it's a balance..

One thing that intrigues me was seeing the following here - http://www.mios.com/category/news/ and it ties in with what's been said earlier.

Quote
Mi Casa Verde was initially meant to be a proof of concept for the MiOS platform, but now has an enthusiastic following and will continue to develop.

"Our strategy always has been to provide an OEM solution to use as the underlying platform" says Lew Brown, who consults for MiOS and Mi Casa Verde.

I have to say that the last private beta that I have is working very well. Better than the public beta.
This is the first time I have tested a private beta.
One thing i'm not sure about is the inclusion of the 4 button key fob: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,11697.msg103407.html#msg103407

I am asking myself too about when new firmware will comming. Seems there is some fix (roller shuffer related) fixes that are good.
I am really thinking to buy another controler and make a mix...
Fibaro HC2 seems to be a good option. Expensive, but Fibaro's guys are cool and their reply to mails.

On the other hand, MCV has no communication, bugs about temperature (21°C instead of 20,6°C) are here for months...

Public beta versions was promized about October... Nothing...

MCV please make some announcements.... :/

I couldn't agree more with you. I hope MCV employees will soon understand that if they want to grow and keep their user base they need to release public firmwares more often. It's still one of the best devices out their when you compare price and quality, but even I am looking for alternatives because of lacking Z-Wave device support (devices from ihome.eu). I already stopped recommending the device to others.

?26,92 for a power switch. Thats a nice price! Why micasaverde does not support this their z-wave devices? Do you have a open support ticket?
Have you tested ihome's gateway? How does it differ from Vera?

Others who have used Fibaro's HC2 has not had much good to stay and the device support from what I hear is very limited. Actually I would find it hard to find another product that supports the same amount or more devices than Vera. Good luck on finding a comparable product to Vera at a decent price.

if you mean the rebuild Everspring devices.. they get added in the new firmware.
the company took a 2 year or so to get anything going and looks like some fraud to me.
i like the rfid tag though it is also sold elswhere and has a plugin in the mios marketplace.
like garrettwp says.. we wish you good luck with finding a better product.. i mean its product of the year lol ..
and yes even I and loads of accompaning I on this forum looked for better and returned coz its nice and cozy here and people are trying to make things better, simpeler and are helpfull and nice to eachother :)

it is for sale at the store i buy my stuff but it looks big and ugly compared to vera but the concept is nice. put a accu-backup with a z-wave controller and a zigbee radio module together. it seems good but it is rather unpractical since u have to use their servers and online program to program the unit. so if u dont have internet you cant change anything on it. its not like vera a multicontroller which u can adapt to other uses and systems.
speaking about it, i would like to integrate zigbee into my vera as well as a rs-232 port and a flash-drive. is it possible to connect a hub to vera and how would i accomplish the zigbee part ?
btw new firmware is about to come out within a week, crossing fingers :)

I don't remember if it was clearly mentioned: the icon management is broken with IE in this new firmware version. Expected icons are replaced by the generic icon.

PS: ok with Firefox
