after pairing ct100 thermostat, three devices are created
« on: August 23, 2012, 07:33:48 am »
Every time I pair a ct100 with a vera (2 or 3), three thermostat devices are created.  I cant delete the extra thermostats and they actually transmit/receive messages.  Can someone explain this? Screenshot below.  The extra thermostats are "t1" and "t2"

The boat is getting full.  Mine showed up at E1 and E2.  I thought they were perhaps an energy mode setpoint (based on the E).  Maybe 1 for heat one for cooling?  I'm assuming there is a purpose.

Interesting that one of the "virtual stats" does display a value so something is going on.  I tried moving these to a dummy room to get rid of them but I can't.  Looks like others are having the same problem.

Yeah... I'm getting this as well. One standard device (Device ID 116) and two identical devices that both control the thermostat as well (device IDs e1 and e2).

I submitted ticket  (under 'account'  then 'support', they somehow remotely fixed it for me.  Now down to one device showing for each thermostat :)

I have the same issue, but have been able to get rid of the ghosts by accessing Vera directly on the local network as follows:

Log out of the Vera dashboard.
In your browser, access the following:

http://<local_Vera_IP>:3480/data_request?id=device&action=delete&device=<device_ID>

Replace <local_Vera_IP> with the address of the vera box on your system... something like 192.168.1.5
Repeat command twice, substituting the <device_ID> with each device you want to delete, like 32
You should see the response OK each time

When you log into your Vera dashboard again, the ghost devices should be gone.
The problem is that this is temporary, until the next time you change your system configuration by adding
a new device.

I'm wondering if the real "problem" is that the CT-100 has additional capabilities that the current thermostat
app doesn't know how to use, so it just creates these dummy entries.  A new app that really understands
this device, rather than just treating it as a Trane thermostat, is probably the right solution.

Not only do I have 2 "children" devices for each "parent" but the child devices poll okay while the parent does not poll.  Meanwhile, I can control the parent, configure it and it does give me updated temps.

BTW - no matter how many times I delete the children as above, they still come back.  Sort of like your own kids.

Good news everyone, ... they recently announced an upgrade to Vera's UI5 that will fix the duplicate 2gig CT100 issue (UI5: v1.5.532 - November 20, 2012).  Unfortunately its only in private beta right now, but we should get the release in the next few weeks.

You can find the info about this fix on the Release Notes for UI5 v1.5.532 about two thirds of the way down the list of Linux Scripts included in that version on the following page:
-- This forum won't let me post the URL, so just go to "wiki dot micasaverde dot com" and search for "Release Notes"

The fix is listed as "Remove duplicate 2-Gig CT100 entry"

IMPORTANT NEW DEVELOPMENT:  Firmware v1.5.622 was finally released.  After installing it, I was perplexed that it didn't fix the issue (with the three duplicate thermostat entries).  I found a lot of people on the forum saying to contact Support and they would fix it, however I wanted a real solution.  I FOUND IT!!!  Here it is:

FINAL SOLUTION:  If you haven't installed Firmware v1.5.622 (or higher) yet, do that first (go to Setup > Firmware from the menu).  Then after its installed, install the "MiOS Update Utility" plugin.  To do that, login to your VeraLite or Vera3 and go to the Apps > Install Apps from the main menu.  On that page, enter "MiOS Update Utility" in the search box at the top of the list and click the Show button.  Finally, click the Install button next to the "MiOS Update Utility" app.  Once its finished installing, click the Reload button in the top right of the page.  That it!!!  Problem solved.  Only one thermostat listed instead of three!  ;D ;D ;D This is me super happy!!!!!

I have the very latest beta firmware (1.5.532) and it still shows up as 3 devices. Is there a solution for this yet?

I emailed Tech Support and they gave it to. Then they had me exclude/include this device hoping to fix the 3 device issue, but it didn't fix it. It still shows up as 3 devices.
