Differences in Eaton Cooper switches
« on: January 11, 2019, 06:28:15 am »
In my last home, I used strictly Leviton & Monster switches, dimmers, and scene controllers because of their quality, aesthetics, and the fact that they support instant status. I like to have all switches match throughout the house. I'm looking at Eaton Cooper switches for my next home. I have a couple of questions for any HA enthusiasts that use them:

I notice two distinct styles of switch, which both propogate to dimmers and scene controllers as well. One is more squarish, and one is "swoopy," for lack of a better word.

Square:

Swoopy:

What's the difference between these two? Is one design older than the other, or has one been superceded? Asked another way, if I start outfitting my home with one design, am I going to run short on availability?

Do they all support instant status, regardless of "vintage?"

Thanks in advance.

They are equivalent just different style, however I found the swoop style had a better push button response in my oppinion.  I do like that on the dimmer you get a visual light that tells you the level.
They all support instant status... but the models themselves are getting to be on the older side, They aren't Z+ and haven't had anything new in years.

Thanks SE... I've not used any Z-Wave Plus devices, so I'm not sure whether that's a deal-breaker.
