I have a GE 45612 that I need to install on a 3 way switch. Can I just purchase a GE auxiliary switch or do I have buy them in a package together?  I saw someone mentioned they had to be paired together to work.

Sorry for the question...Im new to this and probably about to blow my house up!

Thanks in advance.

To use more than one switch(3-way, n-way) with the 45612 dimmer, you must use the GE/Jasco 45610 Auxiliary Remote Swicth (is included in the 45613 kit), or the newer GE 12723 Add-On Auxiliary Switch Model (ZW2004). No other switch can be directly connected to this circuit.

It is also possible to use a Z-Wave scene controller like the Linear WT00Z-1 Z-Wave 3-Way Wall Accessory Switch to control the 45612. Although the WT00Z-1 requires line voltage for power, it is not directly connected to the 45612 and issues wireless Z-Wave commands.

You can purchase them separately. Just Google their model numbers to make sure they are compatible. I got all my dimmers and auxiliaries separately from Lowe's.

Ok I think I understand now.  I need to find the black live wire that comes into the box and tap off of it if it's going to another switch.  As you stated the black wire is probably going to the light itself so that would be the line connection.

Hi 1TUFGT, i have the same configuration an not able to make them work. can you send a final picture of your installation?

Regards,

Patrick

I'm looking to purchase one of the newer GE dimmers for some dimmable LEDs in the hallway GE 12724:

I currently have 2 45610s hooked up to a GE 45638 ON/OFF switch in my hallway. Will my 45610s work with the newer GE 12724 Dimmable Switch?

Thanks

Just wanted to update that I was able to switch out the dimmers without any problems. It was a direct swap with identical wiring. The new model GE dimmer has a neutral wire so now I can dim my hallway LEDs effectively. The old GE dimmer lacked a neutral wire so this is a nice upgrade.
