anyone else have their ecobee drop connection today around 4pm EDT
i have not been able to get it to reconnect
as when i click on "get pin" it spins as usual but does not give me a new one
could there currently be an issue with the ecobee api

i have reloaded luup
rebooted my vera

the pin will no longer generate

+1

i called ecobee
i told them there was a communications issue with the api
they said they would investigate as there was a known issue yesterday that was resolved
perhaps its back

Problem here as well as of right now. Same log error

Code: [Select]
ecobee: Error: closed: no valid JSON value (reached the end)
This seems like it may only be affecting Vera as my test HomeAssistant system seems to be working fine.

You may want to let Vera support know that HomeAssistant is working fine which means the glitch is on the Vera side :-).

Guess it is time to open a case. Not 100% convinced it is Vera as nothing change on my side.   My Hass implementation uses my own developer API key, while the Vera uses the Oauth pin. I have to wonder if the problem is specifically how Vera connects to their API.

For those using the ecobee plugin from the apps.mios.com site, I just logged in and checked the API key and at least I can't see any issues.  The key still appears to be valid, and the old-style developer login says it has 3,215 installs.

I see the site https://status.ecobee.com/ and it seems like whatever happened on the 23rd might possibly be related.

I have no personal experience either way to contribute (sorry).

I just opened a case with Vera. They used my temp credentials with Ecobee and were able to recreate. They feel it is an issue with either the plugin or Ecobee API access itself.  Not sure what to think at this point as my HomeAssistant with my dev key  seems to work fine. Guess next step is contact Ecobee support.

It's certainly possible that something has happened to the key used by the plugin that's been available long term for download from apps.mios.com.  However, being the developer who first set up that key and logging in to the old developer account today, there is no evidence I can see of a problem.  Hopefully Mark K at Ecobee can spend a few minutes digging into this.  Please relay to them that I myself no longer have any Ecobee devices registered at the associated account, but I can still login and see the key at the 3,215 installs.

I can confirm the same problem here. Can't get a pin.

Rafale77, can you tell me what the status values would be?

@watou.  Is the key static in the plug-in files, is there a way hand edit and test my own key ?

Guys, it is not a problem with watou's key or vera. I am running my own version with my own key on openLuup and I am seeing the same problem. It is a problem with the ecobee API.
openLuup (79 devices, 141 scenes, 19 apps) master to VeraPlus (142 zwave nodes, 8 Zigbee nodes, 221 devices,  20 scenes , 2 apps) +  Hubitat (15 Zigbee nodes) + Home-Assistant (API Integrations). Bridged to Siri and Alexa. Homewave. VeraPlus ExtRooted and mios server independent.

This is correct, I am seeing the same thing at about the same time.

It looks like the API is no longer returning a JSON as expected.

Try my version on the altappstore/github. It uses your own personal key but this is not helping at this point.

You would have to use the L_ecobee.lua file I released to rafale77 which was the original minus the API key.  This fork might have some version of that file:

https://github.com/rafale77/vera-ecobee

I think the current problem might be related to supported SSL cypher suites changing at ecobee.com, but that's a total guess.  charettepa is doing serious digging right now I think.  Wish I could be of more help.
