Service Interruption
« on: March 31, 2013, 11:47:00 pm »
The Vera Alerts where not delivered from  4/1/2013 at 00:00:00 to 03:00:00 GMT.
We lost about 600 events during this time ...
I fixed the short term problem ... but need a  long term fix.
This is when It changes it's statics counting for the new month.
It's a race condition that I need to address ...

Vera Alerts has begun to grow past it's  Free Google App Quotas.

We currently handle close to 10,000 notifications a day ... with a steadily increasing growth trend.

I have organized the code to minimize disruptions ... So notifications have not been impacted.
However, registrations have been failing for the last 2-4 Hours of the billing day this month ... due to quotas.
I converted the application to start charging me for excess quota ... but I have hard limits to keep a denial of service from sending me to the poor house.

Bottom line ... at some time in the future I may need to start charging for Vera Alerts.

Fair enough, you definitely should not be out of pocket.  You gave us this wonderful app, and it is more than reasonable to charge. I would not have any problem paying a reasonable cost to keep it alive.

+1 on helping to defray the cost. You've contributed more than should be expected with your apps and your help.

I've been feeling uneasy for months that I get the benefits of all your coding without paying a dime. I'll be happy to pitch in.

You should not be incurring the cost for my obsessive notifications, certainly. There are certain apps and plugins in this ecosystem that really should be for a fee.
