Hello,
I tried to overwrite the mail subject defined in my veraAlerts profil "mailLokal" with this LUA code:
luup.call_action("urn:richardgreen:serviceId:VeraAlert1", "SendAlert", {Subject= "Mail Subject", Message = "Message String", Recipients = "mailLokal"}, 19)

This doesn't work. The email is sent, but still shows the subject of the profil. Is there a way to overwrite it?

You would not be able to guess ... but the lower level api uses "subject" as the field passed to smtp ... and you need to override the low level property.

Thank you!
I was'nt sure how to understand a remark regarding "subject" in the manual. So I know it will not work for my level of knowhow. Not a serious restriction for me.

I guess I should have just said use all lower case for the subject keyword .... the issues is you need to match the case of the low level API ... for SMTP that is not documented.

So, tried hard to get the alerting to work but cannot for notifications (as noticed by several others). Some information:

Veralite FW: 1.7.919
VA version: 7.21
Using fwd to HOMEWAVE

I do see 'system alerts'
I do NOT see any notifications
Test notification works

Started back into automation recently, added PLEG (great app - thanks), and am now trying to get VA to work again (The built in iOS app alerts are long and confusing) after it stopped working a little while back.

What else would be useful -- or is this a known issue? I didn't see any workarounds. Tried different logging states (didn't help).

In Settings for the plugin ... Try turning OFF the Notifications and then turning them back on.

Notifications in Vera are scenes ... and Vera Alerts adds LUA code to these scenes ... and MCV has messed up LUA with scenes for the past 3 or 4 releases.
I think they have things fixed now.

If that does not work send me a PDF of the Vera Alerts report as well as the output of the Vera Log  (Vera Alerts output sent to Vera log) while you trigger something that should generate an alert.

Thanks RTS, that seems to have fixed the underlying issues. I am very happy now -- PLEG and VA all working great. Good to back on HomeWave too and away from the builtin IOS App and its ugly/confusing alerts.

Thanks again for the help and two plugins that enable a lot og intelligence and ease-of-use.

Cheers, Tony.

Do you still have a camera at device 67 ?
You may want to turn on Logging in the Vera Alerts Plugin (send it to the Vera Log file, so I can see what is happening in Vera at the same time)

Then send me the log file while you issue an alert that end a picture.

Forgot to announce the new release a couple weeks ago ...
It add the following:
  • Message prefix for the internal alerts.
    See the Settings tab
  • Support for a Generic URL profile
You can now post an alert to any Internet service that provides a simple GET url request.
  • A Chrome Cast/ Google Home profile.
So you can have your Google Home/Chrome Cast devices do a Text To Speech announcement of your selected alerts.
This requires the concierge server setup.
    See http://VeraConcierge.com

Using Generic URL profile, I always get this error in the log:
SendAlert:[string "module("veraTemplate", package.seeall)..."]:96: bad argument #1 to 'gsub' (string expected, got nil)

You need to provide more detail than that ... how have you configured your profile ?  ... what is the alert message text that you are trying to send ?

I'm in the process of upgrading from Vera2 (UI5) to VeraSecure (UI7).  Vera Alerts has been working great over the past several years in my older system.  I added and configured the plugin for the new system and have successfully sent test messages to myself.  I also am able to receive internal alerts and process notifications.  Vera Alerts also shows up as a device on the Devices tab.

However, Vera Alerts does not show up as an option in the Device Actions when setting up Scenes.  So, I'm unable to configure and send alerts from a scene.  Ideas?

I use PLEG to send me alerts on similar actions, albeit they normally are PLEG actions instead of scenes.  For scenes, I have it notify me, and then I edit the message in Vera Alerts.
