LED bulbs starts to flicker when I turn off the light
« on: June 29, 2013, 05:33:35 pm »
Hi all,

I've got a strange problem with my 5 Watt dimmable LED bulb with a Fibaro dimmer (version 2.2) including the bypass. I use the Fibaro as a two wire connection (with a bridge between O and N).

Everything including dimming, works great but when I switch off the light manually (by wall switch) or via the controller, the light won?t turn off completely and starts to flicker.

Does anybody know a ?secret? parameter which I can use?

This is what I already tried out:

Parameter 12 on 99 (max dim level)
Parameter 13 on 2 (min dim level)
Parameter 14 on 1 (I have a bi-stable wall switch)
Parameter 20 on several values like 110, 135, 140

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Jasper

Yes, you have to up the load...  even with the bypass, 25W is the minimum required (from memory).

Btw, 135 for parameter 20 is what I use as well for all my LED dimmers, and the standard 110 for the normal halogen lights.

its not the load as this is 25W per specs. it is probably connected between the on/off switch , not having a separate mains power on the fibaro does this. otherwise the load is not connected right. the load should be parallel to the light and not in series. between O and Sx.

in the device advanced settings set ConfiguredVariable to: 10,1d,255,13,1d,1,14,1d,1,16,1d,0,19,1d,1,20,1d,110,9,1d,255

So actually I should connect 2 bypasses? What is the load of the Fibaro bypass?

no you should not. the load is as i stated before a 25W therefor enough for the fibaro to live happily with.

The bypass is connected correctly (parallel to the lamp holder)

as it is connected between/in place of the light-switch it would require a bit of electricity to work, therefor it is better practice to put it in the box of the light itself where it has a separate live input for the fibaro.

for bi-stable switch in max operating range and stability

I've tried to change that but Vera keeps the original settings. No changes were made. The default is 14,1d,1,20,1d,110,10,1d,1,13,1d,2

Could it be thet the LED bulb is not suitable for  Fibaro? I used this one: http://www.ledvoordeel.nl/e27-led-lamp-230-volt-4-watt-vervangt-35-watt
Maybe I should try another brand;-)

BTW, I 've tried a trial setup at my desk and then it works great. Maybe something is wrong in my 220v circuit.

Hmm maybe I change the led to a halogen temporary... Can the load still stay connected to the lamp holder?

If it is possible try attach the module to neutral. Otherwise a small current will go through the LED in order to keep the fibaro module running. If the LED is sensible it will start flashing even when light is turned "off".

perhaps search forum more and find out you do not connect the N and O when on 2-wire setup ?
