GE 45612 Z-Wave In-Wall Dimmer doesn't have a neutral wire?
« on: October 07, 2013, 11:59:15 am »
I don't know if I'm doing this wrong, but In the instruction to wire this device I brought on amazon.
GE 45612 Z-Wave Wireless Lighting Control In-Wall Dimmer
http://www.amazon.com/GE-45612-Wireless-Lighting-Control/dp/B006LQFHN2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381161195&sr=8-1&keywords=z-wave+dimmer+switch

The device do not have a neutral wire (white). I have wired the GE 45609 and that one does have a neutral wire and I have power to the device because the blue LED lid up. Now when I wire the 45612 without the neutral wire, there is no power to it. the blue LED doesn't lid up. So I know there is no power to it.

Question is anyone have the GE 45612 and only use the line, load and ground wire to get it working? I also tried adding the auxillary device 45610 to it with the terminal to the 45610 and on that there is a WHITE(nuetral).

But that didn't work either. Does this device work without a neutral can someone shred some light here. Or is there another brand of dimmer that have the nuetral wire?

Most dimmers do not have a neutral. The GE dimmer is one of those switches without a neutral.

Garrett, hummm then for some reason they do not have power when I put them in. Maybe I got both of the defective? because I brought them from amazon - LIKE NEW condition? I'll try to buy a brand new one from amazon to see if it will work, if not i'll try the evolve one.

Do you have  LED or CFL lights ?
It may (Likely) not work ... The ones without neutral wires were designed for the old style incandescent lights.
