Leviton VRS15-1LZ Firmware
« on: December 31, 2013, 04:57:00 pm »
Hi, I purchased two Leviton VRS15-1LZ switches from two different suppliers and I noticed that, according to Vera, they have different firmware versions:

Device #1: Version 3,3,52,0,7 with capabilities 211,156,0,4,16,3,L,R,B,RS,|37,39,43,44,114,115,119,133,134,145

Device #2: Version 3,2,9,0,4 with capabilities 209,12,0,4,16,3,L,R,RS,|37,39,43,44,114,115,119,133,134,145

It would appear that Device #2 doesn't support beaming. Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the firmware on Device #2 to that of Device #1 or something newer? If not, I guess I will no longer purchase from the Device #2 supplier as they are selling older stock.

Thanks!

edit: Corrected model no.

You're correct, the older firmware does not support Beaming.

There is no way for you to upgrade the firmware.

Before severing all ties with your vendor, you might try contacting them, explaining the situation, and giving them a chance to give you a newer switch or a refund. They can;t fix a problem if you don;t tell them about it.

I came across this posting while researching these switches, and I contacted Leviton about how to determine this information prior to installation. They stated that there was never a version of this swith (VRS15-1LZ) that did NOT support beaming. Any additional input to help me out?

So what's the problem? If Leviton says they all support Beaming, then assume that they all do. If, for some strange reason, you find one that doesn't support Beaming, return it for a replacement.

Don't let worry over nothing paralyze you.

I'm not "worrying" - I'm interested in better understanding. The OP stated he had multiple VRS15-1LZ switches with two different batches of firmware. He showed the capabilities outputs of them, and they are clearly different.

Leviton stated that there IS no firmware on the switches (seems suspect to me), and that ALL of these switches ever made supported beaming. That flies in the face of what's shown here.

The two that I have installed so far so capabilities of:

211,156,0,4,16,3,L,R,B,RS,|37,39,43,44,114,115,119,133,134,145,

That matches one of the outputs the OP put up. So, I'm trying to understand if the OP really does have an old version of that switch or maybe it's a slightly different model altogether. Or...   ???

I like to _understand_ things, and that's what I'm trying to do here.
