If you desire to downgrade your firmware to UI5:

http://download.mios.com/rt3662_betafirmware/rt3662_Luup_ui5-1.5.622-en-mios.squashfs

Thanks for the link, that is useful to have.

For the record, I went to getvera.com, it asked me to find my unit and then immediately started offering me the new firmware. It was pretty easy.

Of course I avoided installing it like it had some new air borne AIDS or ebola.
My forum account was apparently hacked by a leprechaun. And he's drunk all of the time. If a post of mine seems a little off kilter, it's probably because he made it.

Great thanks ! :-)

Still on UI6 for now... I may give it a try.

Another issue I have. If I go to my unit (locally or via getvera.com) it always prompt a "Setup Wizard" to configure my unit. If I complete OR cancel the wizard I get the following popup -> "Failed to save system configuration" . I get the same thing if I go to "My Systems" then "Settings" then try to change Country/City/Temp format... If I click "save changes" I once again get "Failed to save system configuration" ...

Any idea ??

Strange.. I just tried the same.. no prompt..   Oh well.  Have no plans to upgrade for quite a while until I know its baked.

I do not have access to any systems currently and I have not downgrade from UI6 to UI5. The firmware link is valid.

If you are uncertain raise a support to ticket and request they revert your system.

With UI6 you will need to checked in the Advanced (old style interface).

Use the link in the "Firmware" Tab of the vera to update it with "URL for Vera custom firmware:"

Did a firmware downgrade without almost any problem, the only minor issue was that the 15 minutes clock never started, which made me fear for the worst. However, after a cup of coffe and a peanut butter with jelly sandwich I got my superpowers back and decided to try to login. With great success. UI5 and v 1.5.622 firmware were back. Thank you, Windows 95.

This thread's title [edit: the author removed that part] states the new UI6 is for Vera 2, but I am not seeing it in the new home.getvera.com dashboard, when trying to select a new device (or http://firmware.getvera.com/).

Only Vera 3 and Vera Lite are listed options.

Can anyone clarify if UI6 is supported by Vera 2?

Also (in case it is supported by Vera 2), like many have mentioned a direct link for 1.5.622, is there any direct link available for the 1.6.641 beta? Or any way to install it?

Thanks

Ps/rant: I really have to say that Vera (or MCV) does a very poor job managing info content, even on linked sections of the main page. Information is highly scattered or outdated, and hopefully there are some good forum users that try to fill in the voids, but it shouldn't be that way (e.g. http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,7656.0.html). It's a good thing that they're thinking of getting a reasonable user interface, even though it seems (video) somewhat better but not actually an extensive and in depth User Interface review, which I guess most users would be grateful for regardless of customizability options (remember Apple with the iPhone!).

I want to make clear that @Garrettwp is not a "ruthless gangster pimp" . He is far from that. He made a LOT (and i mean A HELL OF A LOT) of contributions to the vera-users and forum and helped many people and is a very nice and too good guy. He is not one of MCV, he is beta-tester and on "our" side.  In fact if it wasn't for him and richard the vera wouldn't have been where it is today. So please do not point fingers at him, he is a very nice guy and far from anything like pimp/gangster/whatever negative title. MCV didn't give announcements for a new firmware in the forum as i did allready :-P . we 3rd party app developers and the beta testers didn't get any official/non-official information from MCV regarding the new UI6 or its new login and also didn't get a beta testversion for testing our apps and the vera. One has to understand that communication (except in computerlanguage a lot of people dont understand) is not the best part of vera nor mcv. Also understand that this is the BETA forum and it is a BETA release (like all other release lol) . The thing is .. when u get a new vera there is a link for firmware upgrade in the paper and it says cp.mios.com/firmware so as new user you wouldn't be seeing the difference and happily press that button for upgrade as you don't have a clue and think it's probably supposed to be right.

Normally i would not have even think about changing the title of my topic, but since it's garrettwp and i have a lot of respect for his work and help and time spend on our vera , i will do this.
MCV is giving support for the new UI6 , so don't worry about that part.

edit:
seems new vera users get pointed to new webpage that automaticly get you to the new beta firmware.

I have no vera 2 so i cannot confirm it works for that. i have a link but i cannot give this, don't want you to break ur vera 2. there is no official announcement nor mention about UI6 being compatible for vera 2 so i took it out of the topic untill someone can confirm it works for vera 2.
agree on the poor managing part. it's a total mess. the new UI also could have been presented in the beta forum and let people tell their opinion so it can be improved for the digi-bete people. but yeah it is what it is and we pointed it out to MCV many times and they have their own agenda and ignore our good ideas it seems.

The "Micasaverde" comments on the UI6 release can be found here :
http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,22390.msg149412.html#msg149412

and follow up found here:
http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,22390.msg152973.html#msg152973

Or read them via his profile.
http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?action=profile;area=showposts;u=2

Thanks for the links, I actually read at least one of them earlier.

As for its contents there is no information regarding support for Vera 2 devices (at least I didn't find any).

But again, beside the fact it's released in a scattered and loose way, this type of disclosure doesn't help much. It would have been much preferable to publish this on an official blog, something that only the company manages - comments following those publications. They state that they care for customers - of course they do, all companies conceptually do - the issue is that they do not assess customer handling and communication in a sufficient way.

I find it very awkward that they release beta firmware to some random production devices and don't even try to maintain an updated forum/wiki/whatever release timeline or similar - who does this really...?

I was trying to align the thread to the MCV comments and the release of UI6 by MCV.

I have not seen anything official about Vera2 and UI6 and only one comment awhile ago which someone made on the forum that UI6 would not support Vera2.

Previous release the wiki has been updated in advance of the firmware release but I think the confusion around how this release occurred and left a lot of things incomplete as it stands.

yup i found that comment too. i think considering storage-space and cpu that it won't support vera 2.
its all a big mess, people posting all over the forum about the same things. would be a good thing if we all centralize things to one topic. someone should monitor the forum and administrate it.
thx for the time u took to link all stuff here.

As they have indicated, they are playing catch up right now. I think they need to be given a little time to consolidate their effort and get this back on track.

Yes , there are multiple threads across the forum and they (MCV) have always stated, this a a public forum not an MCV managed forum. Thus this is normal.

Their previous post were responding to comments in a thread and therefore, they were not an official release comment. Since then or in the last few weeks there have been a number of additional thread started - this is normal on a public forum.

Everyone wants answer now which is understandable and they have stated they are working on getting this corrected so efforts are focused or technical issues etc. A little patience might be a good thing for all. Have a beer, coffee, wine, or whatever you like to drink and it will happen soon enough.
