right, but UI5 is the latest, UI6 is in beta and developers are working to get their plugins working.

If you like the bleeding edge, I say go for it!  I'm to busy getting the existing version doing everything I want to do without introducing the new and unknown (and unsupported).

Had a lot op problems upgrading to 1.6.641 from ui5.

finally fixed it by upgrading from within ui5 and entering the 1.6.641

i downloaded the firmware and served it locally .. still upgrade failed .. :(
shows "critical error .. and reboots twice every time.

does datamine work ?

Good firmware is more important than good karma. (and this costed me lots of Karma)

fwiw, I too was prompted to download the new UI (there was no mention whatsoever that it was in beta release), looked good at first but couldn't login.  requested new password, new one was emailed but it didn't work either.  After reading many posts I've decided to go back to UI5
Vera Edge firmware:1.7.1320 , Everspring SF812-1 Smoke Sensor, Aeotec Keyfob, Secure SRT321 Thermostat, Fibaro FGS211 relay x 4, FGS221 double relay x 10, FGD211 dimmer x 8, Vision ZP3102EU PIR x4, PLEG, PLTS , PLC, VeraAlerts, VirtualSwitch, MultiSwitch

i had some chat with MCV Support regarding other things.

they told me aboutthe UI6 topic, the UI6 would be a "simplification" of the current UI5 ...
and adviced to stay with UI5 till UI7 is there ...

looks like the UI6 is just the bridge to the combined version (7) then. somehow iam afraid alot of the flexibility will get lost along the way.
but well .. who knows ;)

If you desire to downgrade your firmware to UI5:

http://download.mios.com/rt3662_betafirmware/rt3662_Luup_ui5-1.5.622-en-mios.squashfs

How do i use it ?

Under SETUP/FIRMWARE there is a text box labeled "URL for Vera custom firmware" - paste the link in there.

I am a new user and also fell for the "Firmware Update" thinking I should have the latest and greatest... UI6 should be private at this point - it is very buggy "out of the box". I downgraded to UI5 and I'm now happy, happy, happy... All is right in the world.

Unfortunately, I have become an UI6 victim as well !! Thanks to this thread that I managed to downgrade to UI5. However, VeraLite is auto-upgrading to UI6 and I am back to square one !!.

After my 8th downgrade attempt, i figured out that after a successful downgrade vera is rebooting & auto-upgrading to UI 6. So it appeared as if the downgrade to UI5 never happened.

The only way i can stop the auto-upgrade behaviour is to switch off Internet to Vera. So I am in UI5 now but with no internet access to Vera (and hence no remote access)

Has any one faced this issue ? How do i turn off the auto upgrade of Vera ? I don't know what job/process is causing it and how to stop the same ?

Here is how the downgrade worked for me

1. On UI 6, go to Advanced settings and logged in with my existing (cp.mios) login
2. Took a UI 6 Backup (incl. Z-Wave Network)
3. On the firmware section pasted the link "http://download.mios.com/rt3662_betafirmware/rt3662_Luup_ui5-1.5.622-en-mios.squashfs" and clicked download. Once the firmware is downloaded i switched off internet to vera (not LAN)
4. Vera rebooted with UI5 blank page. restored the backup in step 2 and i am back to business  with all my devices, scenes & apps (UI6 Backup seems to work in UI5)

Now, If i plug back internet VeraLite immediately detects the 'internet' somehow. It reboots and after 10-15 mins I am back to UI6 again !!

Here is output of 'top' command showing list of jobs running on vera right after a reboot (rebooted from UI5 as soon as i plugged in internet). I can't make out what is causing the auto-upgrade and how to stop it :(

Found the solution in another forum !! Thanks !! will mail the support staff to remove the force upgrade flag.

I also just bought a new veralite and am unable to downgrade to 1.5.622 using the working procedure documented in this thread.
I e-mailed support this morning and asked them about the "force upgrade flag" and requested it be removed.

None detriment clause "External" is there to highlight that there are many sources of information, internal and external.  It is a big world and I was happy to search to find this that was the through away comment let earlier being answer found in another forum, a link would make it easier for all to follow the bread crumbs to that source of information.

Yes, a very appropiriate title for the KB entry.
