Battery operated scene controller suggestions
« on: October 04, 2014, 01:37:26 pm »
Hello,
I'm looking for suggestions for a small battery powered scene controller: I want to be able to control a z-wave appliance switch that is attached to a hot water recirc pump for my home.  Currrently once the switch/scene is turned on it triggers a scene that runs for 5 minutes and then shuts off the pump.  I would like to place battery operated controllers at three sinks so I can activate the "scene" without having to use my iPhone app (which is how I operate it currently).
Wish list includes:
1) small size so as to be less conspicuous
2) cheap
3) long battery life
4) only needs one button to activate one scene
5) available in the US & works with micasaverde
Thanks!

If you're interested in wall mounting, then you might consider the Intermatic HA07.  It meets all of your criteria except the small size.  You can get a 6-pack for $32.98 shipped at Amazon.  You can see a photo of one of mine mounted on a wall here.

If smaller size is more important than wall mounting, consider the Intermatic HA09.

I use Cooper RF9500 battery power wall switches. I have Cooper stuff so they just look like normal switches but can be placed anywhere.

Nice thread.  Thanks for the ideas.

I want one by the wife's bedside when I'm traveling so she can do a panic "all on" without fumbling for the phone.  I plan on using MySensors to also unlock the electronic gun-safe when this scene is activated.

I'm using an HA07 right now but looking for something a little smaller.

Just so as to close the loop, I ended up getting a couple Intermatic CA5100 scene controllers .... meets all of my criteria except battery powered, but I was able to find a few unused gangs for install.  Only problem is that the LED indicator lights on the switches don't work with my setup.
