Akbooer - now that you have a VeraEdge with UI7, have you been able to verify if you can get a CIFS mount to work?

Yes, definitely.  No, not yet.  I have been struggling with a simpler problem up to now: why my Netatmo plugin generates an authorization error on an Edge, when it works OK on other UI7 installs (I think an HTTPS issue).

I didn't want to be changing too many things at once - the Edge already indirectly caused havoc last night after I configured my DHCP to assign it a fixed address and then the whole of the network was hung overnight, for some reason.  Had to power cycle everything!

However, this is a high priority for me too.  I have already configured DataYours on my master VeraLite to see the devices on the Edge, so the next step is assuredly to try CIFS.

Don't get too excited...

This look familiar???
Code: [Select]
# opkg install cifsmount
Package kmod-fs-cifs version 2.6.37.1-1 has no valid architecture, ignoring.
Unknown package 'cifsmount'.
Collected errors:
 * opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package cifsmount.

I know next to nothing about Unix - ideas anyone?

That looks very familiar! Misery loves company by the way! :-)

I think we need to get our friends @ Getvera to help us out here. Potentially ping Marc and see if he can connect us with someone to help out?

Based on what I read from previous posts, the ability to do CIFS mounts in UI5 were enabled with the help of someone internally that got the proper packages setup. We probably need to go down the same path here.

You need to update your sources.

opkg update
then you can run....
opkg install kmod-fs-cifs

Linux and its variants have a sources.list or something like that to maintain trusted respositories.
If you want an openwrt package and it's not available, you could edit this list, add the repository url, run the opkg update again, then run your install command.

While cifsmount may be a valid package name for other Linux variants, it is not for openwrt. See this link: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/cifs.client

OK... so why did cifsmount work on UI5 / VeraLite, but not on VeraEdge with UI7?

Both are running OpenWRT.

Either a package name change by openwrt, change in alias names allowed, or updates the the firmware required it. My guesses..

I'm not using it. I just installed it to help answer the question. I enjoy Linux that's all. I was trying to determine why I should use data yours versus datamine.

I can pull up the graphs in imperihome,  can data yours do that too?

I think that ImperiHome would need changing, rather than DataYours.  No, you can't do that at the moment.

I'm sure ImperiHome will support also DataYours as soon as there is a  version released to the MiOS apps store.

Working on it!

I would rather like to get CIFS working on UI7 first, but that's not really a DataYours issue.

Interesting.....

So, I installed ksmod-fs-cifs. I read here we need cifsmount which contradicts earlier posts I made about installing it: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/cifs.client.

Ironically I swear to you I tried opkg install cifsmount and it didn't work. After installing the ksmod-fs-cifs I did eventually reboot and ran opkg install cifsmount.

Installing cifsmount (1.5-2) to root...
Downloading http://download.mios.com/firmware/openwrt/ramips/packages/cifsmount_1.5-2_ramips.ipk.
Configuring cifsmount.

So....whatever I guess..
Still didn't work, only getting no file or directory exists.

Went back here: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/cifs.client
I installed the special packages: opkg install kmod-nls-utf8 kmod-nls-base kmod-crypto-hmac kmod-crypto-md5 kmod-crypto-misc cifsmount

I then did mount.cifs //myip/share /tmp/tom -o user=myusername
You can put a password, I just let it prompt me.

So that actually worked. Now I go into /tmp/tom and do an ls. Another error...
Led me to this: http://www.gnu.org/software/coreutils/faq/coreutils-faq.html#Value-too-large-for-defined-data-type
So perhaps the share needs to be smaller...

Running out of time tonight but that's progress I supose.

One quick update, also did it from /mnt/tom and it is working but still the exact same error.
