Wayne Dalton HA-09WD Remote
« on: September 07, 2013, 11:09:00 am »
I just picked up an HA-09WD remote for  my Vera Lite system. The plan is a bedside remote for the system.

I did get it to work as a remote to the Vera and running scenes. I want to be able to control a few lights discretely but also control an All Off and an All On scene.

I have come to learn Vera cannot discern the various OFF keys and sees them all as the same (A scene is activated, Scene  0). Whereas on the on side of the keyboard they can be parsed as keys 1-6.

This is a pretty severe limitation.  >:( ??? While I can set up to six scenes to turn things on, I have only one option to turn a scene off. I am rejecting the idea of using a turn on button to turn something off as it will be so confusing to everyone other than me.

Has anyone figured out a way to parse the OFF keys, say in LUUP code or in tweaking the configure parameters? Or is this a hopeless cause?

I didn?t pay much for the remote but pretty disappointed in this limitation.

Is there another handheld remote someone can recommend that allows 3-6 on off pairs and each key to be used as triggers to scenes without the HA-09WD limitation for Off keys?

I have the intermatic version of the same remote.  I have 2 of them and they work fine.

You have to pair it to Vera.  Then use triggers associated to the buttons on the remote.  On trigger button 1   Off trigger button one  All the triggers need to be set up in Vera.   Then when all the triggers are programmed,  you have to pair it to Vera again and Vera will load those scenes/triggers and the remote works great.   I use both my on and off buttons and control a Hot water recirc pump,  4000 Watt 220 V heater,  2 lights and a couple of misc. items.   The other remote just has lights

Ok I'll give it a try. I've never heard of pairing twice. Do you have to delete the device before you start the second pairing?

New development.    I wanted to change some scenes on my remotes and tried to re-program them.   Now Vera will only allow the ON button to work for both the HA09 and HA07.   The HA07 is capable of 12 scenes, but now Vera will allow 9 scenes.  One work around (Seems like there ALWAYS has to be work arounds with Vera) is to install the MultiSwitch plugin (It has 8 virtual switches).  The default operation of the MuiltiSwitch is toggle state for the buttons.   I use the remote ON button to turn on a MS button which then operates an on scene and again use the same remote ON button to toggle the MS button OFF to run an off scene.  It is dirty, but it works.   For buttons 10, 11, 12 on the HA07 I just associated those with lights and I don't need a scene.

I wish Vera would work and I wish that things that were working would stay working.

Yes, that is what I have found.  It seems that on and off used to work.  Then there was all "off" buttons trigger a Remote (not Vera) scene "0".  But that doesn't appear to work now.  The only solution seems to be program one button for on and the next button for off.  Wizardofoz, as dirty as you think your solution is, I think I'll give it a try as it's better than using two buttons for each light/scene and trying to remember something like odd buttons on, even buttons off.

The only thing with using the MS is if you turn that scene on by something other than a remote (ie. iphone or directly through Vera on cpu) then the MS button is still in the OFF position and you will need to operate the remote twice. (once to turn the MS ON which would not change anything since the scene is still ON and then a second time to turn the MS OFF to turn the scene OFF)

Vera3, UI5, 1.5.622: HA09 included fine; adding devices directly to the remote worked fine; creating a scene on Vera and re-including the HA09 worked fine, both on and off.

Well, I don't know if it ever was outright broken; 1.5.622 has been around for a while, and AFAIK it was working before that too. So if folks are seeing issues, more detail may be required as to what exactly they are doing / have done, so we can attempt to reproduce. Just taking a 'clean' HA09 and using it with a 'clean' Vera seemed to work fine.
