Hi Rene,

I'm coping with the same problem. I can't use the smart meter plugin anymore, because of the overload of communication. I do not see a real difference with the last version.

I hope there is a solution to this.

Cheers

Niels
Hi Niels,
I assume you have a version 5 DSMR. For now I would not know how to reduce the load any further. My own smartmeter is no longer reporting to the supplier and I think they will replace it. So I may have a V5 meter my self to test with by the end of the month.

Are you running any other plugins that send in much data?

Cheers Rene

I found out that I have a DSMR4 meter. I do not have any other plugins that are sending a lot of data. I have moved most to openluup.

Are there more possibilities with the DSMR4 meters?

Cheers Niels

Hi Niels,

I never have seen the overload with the V4 meters. It sends at ten seconds interval and even my Vera Lite with a bunch of other plugins would run just fine with that. I know some people have been tolled by support it is the culprit, but I am not seeing it.

Cheers Rene

That?s a pity. Mine is communicating several times per second. I?ll have to abandon the plugin then for now. Thnx.

I get the message "Can not Detect Device".
I have been using the P1 port reader on my Vera Lite for years. Now I have a Vera Plus and have the backup of the Vera Lite restored in the Vera Plus. Since then I do not get the PI port reader to talk anymore on the Vera Plus.
I just get the data directly into the USB port of the laptop. So the cable is in a good working state!
The P1 port reader uninstalled and reinstalled. What I noticed was that the D_SmartMeter_U17.json was not installed, but the D_SmartMeter.json. Then adjusted the parameter device_json parameter to D_SmartMeter_U17.json. Even then, no data from the P1 port. How can I solve this?

Check Serial port settings in vera and connect to the plugin again.

(Apps - develop apps - serial port config)

Hi,

I think the serial port settings used are not correct. Unless you have a very old meter the baud rate should be 115200. You got it working on your laptop so you should be able to copy those settings.

The download error suggests the plugin files cannot be downloaded from the Vera servers. You can try to delete and then re-add the device. If the device_json parameter is not changed on UI7 it implies the plugin did never startup correctly.

Thanks Rene,

In my opinion are the serial parameters correct. See the attachment.

Is there a way to see the serial activity with Putty direct in the Vera?

Path is empty and bits is 8, should that not be 7? See attaxhed for mine working correctly.

Hi Wim,

I think that second entry is your problem. The datamine plugin never uses a serial port definition and I think it messes up the connection to your smart meter.

Sender, your settings are for the old smart meters that run at just 9600 baud. For the new types it is 115200,8,N.
