1:30 - 3:30am lighting gremlin

It appears that 1 of a couple lights randomly. Here is an example from log:

I've checked what I know to check like membership of scenes, etc but cannot figure it out. These particular lights are LED screw in bulbs with zwave functionality built in:

Domitech DTA19-750-27

I have no trouble with anything else. I would not care but this particular device shines in my window making me say WTF when I am woken up...

Any ideas?

Freddy

I suspect that this is being caused by the nightly heal. It restarts the LUUP engine and this may be causing it to replay some programming or something similar.

While others have reported this behavior during/after nightly heals, I have never been able to reproduce the results, so I don't know exactly what causes it.

Things I would check:
Does the problem happen to different devices or only to Domitech bulbs?
If only Domitech it may be a problem with that brand, but see the next question.

Does the bulb use the standard dimmer device description files, or does it have its own unique class?
There may be an issue with the class file if it is unique, contact support.

Are the devices that do this incorporated in any sort of logic, scenes, PLEG, Lua?
Try excluding and including the device. When included again, do not add the device to any logic and see if it still happens. If it doesn't then the programming may be the issue when the LUUP engine restarts. Sometimes, especially with custom LUA or PLEG the logic can get convoluted and restarts could seem to create state changes that trigger programming.

I decided to unpair and observe. The device I am selecting is generic since I see no vendor specific entries. I will report back once I get some data. Thanks for the suggestion.

Whenever I have had similar gremlins I would remove the scene, then remove the device. Reinstall the device and create a new scene.

This has always worked for me.

Good luck

Having the same problem with two Domitech bulbs. I have not used them in scenes or PLEG on this VeraEdge unit. They were programmed on a previous unit.

I've been having the same issue. One bulb with built-in z-wave keeps randomly turning on in the middle of the night. It seems to be happening once or twice a week.

Yesterday it got worse when at 12:20 five lights, most connected to z-wave switches, suddenly all turned on waking us. It included the ones in our bedrooms.

Vera remains unpredictable and flaky.

I removed the light and re-added. It is now device 35. At 2:20am I noticed it on. At this point, there are no scenes controlling it. I have received other messages with similar happenings from other Domitech users.

Any new suggestions?

Note: I tracked the five lights turning on last night down to two window sensors suddenly becoming unreachable and Vera deciding the windows were open. I had to pull them off the window, bring them close to the Vera, and do a "Configure Node Right Now".

This didn't fix the light with built-in z-wave that keeps turning on in the middle of the night since that one is never triggered by sensors or timers. It turned on last night somewhere between 1am and 3am. I just discovered my daughter has been wearing a night mask to keep from being woken up.

Do these lights come on when power is restored? A couple of my lights exhibit this, and every so often will suddenly turn on when the power glitches.

I programmed Vera to always turn off these lights when a restart occurs, so fortunately when it happens, they turn off again within a minute or two.

Sounds like it's bulb/brand specific. I'd use other bulbs.

The bulb I'm having a similar issue with is actually a LinearLinc LB60Z-1. It keeps turning on sometime between 1am and 3am.

It sounds to me like you have a different issue. Did you attempt any of the previously mentioned troubleshooting steps? See the second post in this thread.

We looked at the logs and there was nothing showing it being turned on by VERA, so no scripts or triggers are accidentally switching it on. It's either turning itself on or it's getting false triggered by something like polling or a nightly rebuild. It only happens between 1:30am and 3:00am.

It worked fine until the latest UI7 update, so I'm leaning toward the update messed something up, but because the logs don't show anything support has no suggestions.

When I have more time to experiment I'll do a series of debugging exercises, but guess for now I'll just have to put a regular bulb back.

I had fixed this issue by deleting the device from Vera and adding it back again. It lasted a month, but now it's turning on in the middle of the night again. I like having that bulb be dimmable, but may be more trouble than it's worth.

I have had the same issue last week with a couple of lights coming on around mid night.  It is in my family room where no one is usually in at that time. Thought it was a programming problem on my part at first but couldn't find anything.  BTW I am on UI5 on a Vera Lite.
