I located the grandfather clock chime mp3 files.  Link: http://www.freesound.org/people/joedeshon/packs/7926/   On the first page, the fifth file down is the 12 o'clock file, and the other 11 files follow.  These are my favorite chimes (and I did a lot of searching), but it's definitely a personal taste thing.  With the high quality of the Sonos speakers, I doubt anyone visiting our home can determine that no real grandfather clock exists.

The first attached file is a snipped copy of the PLEG Report, for one schedule and one execution of chimes.  You'll need to create additional Schedules, Conditions, and Actions for each chime file.  Obviously, I'm using UI5 (on a Vera Lite.)

The second file is a screenshot of the PLEG Action screen Advanced tab - this is what it should look like when you're finished.  The full information in the URI box is:  x-file-cifs://<Your NAS IP>/Public/Shared Music/GFC12.mp3.

Hope this helps.  Let me know if you need more information.  Cheers.

Are you by any chance referring to this set of sounds? https://freesound.org/people/joedeshon/packs/7926/

@BOFH - yes! - sorry, I was typing when your post showed up.

Ahh, yes, thanks, for the links and your PLEG example. These are WAVs, and although I haven't yet used Sonos to play sound files directly, I think they'll need to be converted to MP3s. I'll play around with this.

I don't remember if I downloaded the files as mp3 or wav.  If they are wav files, I would have converted them to mp3 files using Audacity.

That's simple. Do a google search for free 'online wav to MP3 conversion' or vice versa and a lot of links will show up.
Otherwise, FormatFactory at http://www.pcfreetime.com/ will do the trick. (ad supported freeware)

@degk273, many thanxs for sharing. Question are you only chiming on the hour or are you using the quarter, half and 3/4 chimes? Mike

@BOFH, thanxs for the conversion steer(s) suggestion. Looks like a project for the weekend or holiday's. Mike

I'm only chiming on the hour - didn't want to push my luck.  Whenever there's a vote at my house, I always lose - one vote to none...

I know the feeling, I added several announcements e.g. when the washer stops for someone to move the laundry to Dryer, status of house locks ect.. I got grief because everyone felt that the house was tattling... there are no rewards for the HA hobbiest... Mike

The hardest time I'm having with this is enabling access to my Synology Public folder. I've never used it before, and I'm unable to get it to work. I've looked through Synology's forums to no avail. I may just try to use the folder I've mounted on Vera using CIFS.

I don 't think there's any requirement for placing the MP3 files in a public folder.  In my case it's just where they ended up, partly due to unrelated issues I was having with the Western Digital NAS.  The reason I wanted the files to reside on my NAS is that I have no other "always on" hardware in which to store them.  And I'm being very cautious about over-burdening my Vera Lite.

I agree with @degk273, I too did the same it works great by having my MP3 files in a public folder near near the Root Directory (found that lower tier directories seem to have problems when I tried to make them accessible). Mike

I started another thread about that, here. I don't want to derail this thread!

I have set up my hourly PLEG scenes to kick off my chimes, though, and that's working great.

I got this working, thanks @degk273 for sharing. It's a fun little add to the Sonos system. I neglected to add the "duration" parameter, so my music wasn't resuming after the chime, but I realized my mistake & fixed that.

I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone else has done. I have an essentially unused intercom system with an AUX input. I currently have a BT receiver hooked up to it, but eventually I'll find a cheap Sonos Connect to add in.

Yeah, I learned that the hard way.

eBay?  Or something better?  Thanks.
