Notifications
« on: March 02, 2012, 03:00:04 pm »
is there away to set specific notifications for scenes? if not, would it be possible to add this in a future update?

example:

I created a scene to turn on the ceiling fan(s) when the temp in the house reaches a certain point, however, I can only set a notification in the device itself vs the scene. I don't necessarily want to be notified every time the fan comes on. I'd much rather be notified when the scene is triggered because of the temp and the fan kicked on.

make sense?

am I missing something and this is available now or is it something that can be implemented?

thanks

It is not a standard feature in Vera.
if you want to do this then you can download the email plugin, to use your own SMTP server for sending emails.
Via Luup codes you can then send emails for the particular scene, via the luup section in the scene when it is active.

if you read this post:

then you can find out how to install the plugin and how to get it working.

Hopes this helps,if not let us know!

The following is how I deal with notifications.
I have one Scene that does all of my notifications!
I add an EVENT for each notification.
The event can then be set to notify when the Temp > xxxx on device YYY.
There is a LOT of capability in event types ... play around  with it.
Associated with the event you can have a MCV style of notification.
In the Luup code for the EVENT you can turn on your fan and/or use any other style of notification such as email, VeraAlert, ... but this will be a little script you will have to write.

There are lots of examples of LUUP scripts to send notifications and turn on/off devices in the forums.
