New to Zwave and UI7. Where to start
« on: January 18, 2017, 12:29:59 pm »
There is a ton of information on this forum. I don't know where to begin.

My background is a home theater installer that has installed Control4, URC Total Control, Pro Control and URC complete control.

Im looking into the Zwave as Total control offers zwave from mios.

I added a couple of GE 12724 dimmers to my home and found them to be very limiting in features. No double tap, no default light level.

The UI7 seems to have a lot of custom programming that looks powerful. Not sure where to learn about that.

Basically where should I start reading?

I suggest you start reading the reviews at   http://apps.mios.com/plugin.php?id=8246).

If you are looking for some cool things to do with your Vera, pick a topic you would like, investigate it and do it. then move on to the next.
You can do almost anything with a Vera and its workhorse devices.
Lights are pretty much the most boring of topics.
You sound like you have a pretty sohisticated AV control system at home. Venture out and do something else.
We have some interesting topics here.

I agree with Jamr, define the problem (or possibility) you want to solve. There are very few things the Vera can not do with appropriate devices.
Search the forum for I'm sure someone has tried to solve it before, often you find code samples as well. My go-to place is the "Programming" section in the forum page.
Vera Plus and Vera Edge with (Hue, Fibaro, Qubino, IKEA, Nexa, Sonos, Telldus, Sensative, Imperihome etc.) and Arduino, ESP8266
