Auto changeover lets you set the set points and leave the stat alone. When the temp falls below the heat set point, the heat comes on, when the temp rises above the cool set point, the AC comes on. Without Auto, you have to put the stat in the proper mode.

With Vera however, I believe you could do scenes to change modes. Im not sure if the temperature event works correctly though.
So if I set the heat to 72 it will just keep blowing hot air until I turn it off?  It won't stop when it gets to 72?  And if it drops below 72 it won't turn back on?  I mean isn't that the point of a thermostat?  I didn't know they made ones that didn't do that

Auto changeover means the stat will switch between Heat and Cool modes automatically. If you set your Heat set point to 68 and your Cool set point to 76, the thermostat will call for Heat when the temp is below 68 and call for Cool when the temp is above 78. Without Auto mode, your thermostat would have to be in Heat/Cool mode for the Heat/Cool to come on no matter what the temperature is.

No.....autochangeover would let you set high and low points, so when the temp falls below a certain point, the heat would come on automatically, and when the temp goes above a certain point, the a/c would kick in automatically. Unlike regular thermostats where you have to toggle between heat and a/c, the Trane's can be set up once to your liking and during winter or summer, no further changes would be needed. On the 2gig however, you will have to toggle between heat and a/c during winter and summer respectively. No big deal for me...I do that on my current thermostat anyways. There is a fine line between excessive automation and being pure "lazy". ;D ;D

The version we sell here is in-fact TZEMT400 and is Z-wave capable. We do not offer the TZEMT043)
Check before you buy to be sure.

Therefore we have to be very careful when someone announces a low price Schlage/Trane thermostat... :-\
