I recently installed this Envisalink EVL with UI7 and decided to document the process and make some detailed instructions for people doing this in the future.
I used a DSC power series but the same process should work for the Honeywell vista series. As I have not tried this I can not guarantee it.
These instructions include physically installing the EVL, Setting up an account at eyez-on.com for the EVL, setting up the EVL itself, installing the DSC alarm app and setting up things on the Vera side.

If it works for you, feel free to forward it to others who are doing this or plan on doing this.
If not, please leave suggestions as to how I can make it more accurate and helpful.

Here is the installation document.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fRPc1yXVyXltur5LPztZfaK7wzqll_jkMBl_TBFalNY/edit?usp=sharing

I made the document commentable so you should be able to leave comments right on the doc.
If this is not working, feel free to leave comments and suggestions here.
Once it is approved, I will make a Youtube video out of it.
Thank you.

Thanks for this!

For Envisalink 3; under DSC Interface module did you select IT-100 or Envisalink? I'm having issues getting this working with UI7

Thank you

Your welcome. I hope it helped you.
I selected the Envisalink. I was using a EVL3.

Has anyone got this to work for a Honeywell Alarm. I t installed fine.  But does not seem to arm or react to zone changes.

I have the exact same issue.  I have an Envisalink 3 in a Honeywell Vista 20p and can not get vera and the envisalink to talk to each other. I have done all of the obvious stuff.  Has anyone encountered this issue who has resolved it?  I have found lots of questions but no solutions on this forum. I am using the DSC App with the Envisalink. Vera support has been working on it for a week and can't seem to get it operating either. Anyone?

First step to diagnosing is to see if Eyezon.com is getting the info from your EVL by checking your Eyezon.com account for status changes when you make them to your alarm system.
https://www.eyez-on.com/EZMAIN/login.php

If no then, find out why by going through steps.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fRPc1yXVyXltur5LPztZfaK7wzqll_jkMBl_TBFalNY/edit#heading=h.othlu5f7ziif

If yes then, make sure the EVL is communicating with your Vera by going through these steps.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fRPc1yXVyXltur5LPztZfaK7wzqll_jkMBl_TBFalNY/edit#heading=h.mgtj52ldorv0

If your vera is still not seeing status updates, there may be a hardware failure so you will have to start switching hardware out.
I hope this helps.

Thanks!  I really do appreciate your reply. Unfortunately, it doesn't help, as I found all of the information in other posts of yours prior to posting my question.

My Vera does not 'see' anything from the Envisalink. Sending commands through the Vera UI will not cause changes to the alarm system. Sensors being tripped/activated will not show in the Vera UI. I have done everything in your instructions, but it just doesn't seem to want to work.

As far as a hardware failure, both the Vera and the envisalink work properly on their own, they just won't talk to each other at all. And I have the exact same setup in another home, and have the exact same issue, so I think it unlikely to be a hardware failure.

I'm sorry to trouble you with this, but are there any other suggestions you might have?

Thank you again for all of the work you have done sharing your knowledge and experience with forum members! :)

Let's see...

You state...

I have an Envisalink 3 in a Honeywell Vista 20p

and the thread title is

Quote
Complete Installation Instructions Installing Envisalink EVL in UI7 w/ DSC

Do we see a problem here???? (hint: you can't control a HONEYWELL panel with a DSC plugin)

Well, I understand what you are saying, and it is a concern, however the title of the document referenced by the links in the previous post is this:

Installation Set-up and Use of the Envisalink (EVL3 or EVL4) with DSC or Honeywell and Vera UI

I found it by searching for information concerning a Honeywell Alarm and integrating it with Vera. So... if it CAN work with a Honeywell alarm and Vera, then this is what I want to accomplish.

Apparently, there was a specific plugin for the Honeywell alarms available, but the author basically stopped supporting it, and going further, pulled it from distribution. I don't know anything further about this, but my requests to get a copy of that plugin have gone nowhere.

I understand the point you're making, but I think you can see why I'm pursuing this avenue of exploration to arrive at a solution.

UPDATE: Well, after an hour of exhaustive searching, I have come to the conclusion that my request for a copy of the old Ademco (Honeywell) plugin, posted on the relative thread was removed, likely by the moderator, who turns out to be you, cybrmage. So why do you come on this thread and post your response above, which is completely unhelpful? Exactly what is your agenda at this point? And what did I ever do to you? I actually bought and installed TWO Honeywell systems, and Envisalinks, on the basis of the availability of a means to link it to Vera. I didn't know it was through a plugin supplied by you, I don't know you or who you are, I don't know what your issues are with Vera or why you pulled your plugin, or why you removed my post (that last point I am assuming of course). I have no agenda other than I want to be able to integrate my alarms systems with my veras. I'm happy to pay for the software to be able to do it.

But this, feels like a specific attack on me. You obviously know far more than you are offering in your post. And based on the information I have seen, it is perfectly reasonable to expect that the DSC plugin should work. Perhaps it can with some adjustment or change of settings... I really don't know at this point. But it is reasonable for me, in the absence of other information, to expect that it does.

But I am really mystified by the fact that you would delete my request, and then come on this thread and point out something that is essentially unhelpful, and far below your level of knowledge on the subject. Why? If you have an agenda or some issue with vera or something else, why aren't you addressing that, as opposed to interfering with my efforts to achieve my goal, a path that YOU helped send me on? Do you realize the choices that I have made, and the thousands of dollars in expenses I have already incurred, because of the things that you have done?

If you don't want to be contributing anything further to this community... that's fine I suppose, and obviously your decision. But why be here, being unhelpful by posting a comment that provides zero path towards a solution, when you are obviously capable of far more than this?

The EVL works with DSC and Honeywell and the add on communicates with the EVL so I don't see how that is a problem but he may be right.
I would try calling Eyez on to see of there is any merit to his proposal.
Are there any other Honeywell users here using the DSC add on?

I have spoken to Eyezon. They say that any plugin or anything else to get an Envisalink to communicate with Vera is their (Vera's) responsibility. The Envisalink works, it works with the Envisalink site and does what it is supposed to do. They don't sell it on the basis of it being compatible with any outside device, and as a result, can offer no support to me on this issue.

Yea I am not sure if the add on tells the EVL what to do and the EVL tells the alarm system or if the add on tells the alarm systems directly via the EVL.
It very well may be that the DSC add on will not work with Honeywell and you will have to get a different network device and use on of these add ons.

  • Release compat is not a bolted-on afterthought
Short version...
The DSC Plugin works only with DSC Alarm systems.   It doesn't work with Ademco Alarm systems.

Longer version...
The EVL an electronic adapter that, when configured, will speak the DSC Protocol, when connected to DSC Alarm Panels.   The EVL can also speak Ademco Protocol, when connected to Ademco units.

The EVL specifically doesn't translate between the different Alarm system protocols.

The DSC Plugin speaks only the DSC Protocol, via either an IT100 (legacy) or a EVL

I knew I put clarification if you are using a Honeywell in the instructions.
"Setting up your Vera
If you are using the Honeywell Vista series panels, these directions may not be accurate but they should be similar."
Under the "Setting Up Your Vera" section.
I will have to add you may need a different add on.....

Thanks for the clarification guessed.
