Trane thermostat fan commands
« on: March 21, 2017, 07:40:34 pm »

I would have sworn that back in UI5/Vera3 I had a scene defined (no code, just the scene gui) where I could select the fan mode  "on / off / auto" on my Trane thermostat.   Now I just see basic options... off / auto / heat / cool    and  temperature setpoint.    Did things get dumbed down along the way to UI7/Vera Plus?

Yes I realize I can throw some code in to execute, but it sure was easy to just select the fan mode in the scene.

On - Off - Auto is for the FAN mode  (there is also an option for Interval for some devices)
Off - Auto - Heat - Cool are  Thermostat operating modes.

Yeah, thats what I used to see for Trane scenes a long time ago. ( Its been awhile since I had set a scene for my Trane tstat)...
this is what I see now (image attached).   This is just the operating modes.   There used to be options to set the fan modes in the scene.  I remember on a rental, I had a 'guest checkout scene' that set the thermostat to a certain temperature and set fan to auto just in case the guest had changed the fan to run constantly.

The fan controls are hidden on the device page when you click on the > sign.   Just no option within the scene page to get to that area as far as I can see.   Will open a ticket and see what happens.

Yes, you have more TStat options in UI5. See attached pic. I really want the cool/hot setpoints in UI7. One of the reasons my tstat is still running on my UI5 Vera instead of on the Ui7 one.

Although I might be able to use rstrouse's vpanel plugin and create my own tstat panel with all the functions I need.

Thank you for the UI5 Image!  I knew I wasn't going crazy!

FWIW I did open a ticket complaining about lack of same controls by default on UI7.

They are available in the advanced mode for the scene editor.
ALL commands are available there.

Yeah, Vera support pointed out the advanced editor and even set up an example, it does help my  scene problem.   I do agree with BOFH that it would be nice to have all of that up front like the old UI5 had.   Ahhh progress.... lol

Thanks everyone (including Vera Support)

You may want to look into the Virtual Panel plugin by rstrouse. It will let you build your own device display and as such you could create a thermostat panel with all possible options your tstat offers and get what you need.

Yeah, its on my list of things to look at next... thanks for the tipoff.     The advanced editor got me going but that Virtual Panel looks interesting.   I haven't been spending a lot of time with Vera or here so am a bit rusty.

Thanks!
