I think i got it working:
There are 2 programs which provide 'java'.

  Selection    Command
-----------------------------------------------
*+ 1           java-1.7.0-openjdk.x86_64 (/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.7.0-openjdk-1.7.0.131-2.6.9.0.el7_3.x86_64/jre/bin/java)
   2           /usr/java/jre1.8.0_60/bin/java

Enter to keep the current selection
  • , or type selection number: 2
[root@ip-xxx habridge]# sudo update-alternatives --config java
