Polling and Lights
« on: May 11, 2017, 03:39:50 pm »
Plan on beginning to integrate lighting. Do I care whether its instant or polled? I have read a little on it and have searched the forums here, but I was just curious in your experience in the real world do you care? Most other stuff is instant right? Locks, sensors, stats, etc.

If you want to use the device to activate a scene or other trigger such as, you walk into a room flip the switch and it also causes other areas of the house to do things, you'll want Instant Status. If you don't care that it takes a minute or more for the other things to happen after you flipped the switch, then relying on polling alone will be adequate.

I would guess that Instant Status is not required about 90% of the time. But, everyone will have at least one switch where they want Instant Status, sooner or later.
