For the first time in quite a few upgrades, and only the second time since starting with Vera 3 years ago, I had an issue with this latest firmware upgrade.  Several devices simply disappeared.  And they weren't at all similar devices.  1 of 3 deadbolts disappeared.  1 of 6 door sensors.  1 of 3 dimmable lamps. etc, etc.  I counted a total of 7 devices out of about 80 that went missing.  Worst of all was that my main PLEG disappeared.

Vera support restored the previous firmware and I restored the backup and all is once again as it should be.  Thank goodness.  But now I'll have to put up with that damn firmware nag screen.  Better that, I suppose, than having a bunch of missing devices.  Grrr...

I was able to reset the vera to the new firmware, and reloaded my backup and things seem to be working.

After upgrading to the new firmware 1.7.3015 for my Veraplus, I get a LUUP reload everytime I login to the portal (local or through the portal). This is weird. I will revert to the previous version and see if this still exists.

Somebody know the link for previous firmware for VeraSecure?
Just updated and several of my devices have disappeared.  Have been using The GE Caddx plug in and 8 of my 15 devices have disappeared from it.  I still see them in zones, but they've disappeared under the device tab.  Also, sorting devices by type shows two of my locks under the heading: Poly-Control Danalock which I haven't had installed in well over a year and on an older VeraEdge at that.  This leaves me wondering what other devices I have that are missing or mis-classified?

This may be one of those situations where I actually need to restore from backup.  Alarm PIR still shows in Virtual Switch app and is still part of a scene, but I've lost the PIR itself.  So very odd.

The folks were extremely helpful this evening.   We tried restoring backup to new firmware, but no changes.   2 issues developed: first, lost 8 of 15 id'd devices tied to the GE/Caddx plug-in app...many with scenes tied to them.  Second, was no longer able to put the controller into inclusion mode at all - without an error.  Support moved system back to old firmware and restored backup.  All devices back and everything normal once again.   :D

VeraPlus upgrade resulted in a few devices that work in scenes but no longer appear on Vera dashboard. Oddly, I still use Authomation and they appear as individual devices there and respond to commands.

***UPDATE***
I broke the firmware code and found 7.0.21 (1.7.2935) for VeraPlus is https://dl.mios.com/rl/721/mt7621_Luup_ui7-1.7.2935-en-mios.squashfs .

Currently reverted back from this messed up current firmware. All my stuff works. Hopefully Vera fixes it soon.

***SOAPBOX MOMENT***
I am growing tired of the B.S. with Vera. I started in 2012 with UI5 and all was well. UI7 is HORRIBLE. I dread switching to say Samsung but I need a reliable gateway. Vera isn't it. Period.

PLEG has disappeared from devices :-(

- however, it can be accessed by going to "APPS" - then PLEG / details.

I ***think*** you paste this into the firmware upgrade link for VeraSecure  (box next to Advanced: URL for custom Vera firmware:)

https://dl.mios.com/rl/721/mt7621s_Luup_ui7-1.7.2937-en-mios.squashfs

No promises but I know the link is good. As for the results? Back it all up first before you try this. I reverted the firmware then loaded my last backup before I foolishly updated the firmware.

***EDIT - Don't blame me if this fails. If you don't feel comfy doing it, call tech support.

Good luck!

Bit the bullet and got the Zigbee network drop on the second day. I am thinking it is not a problem with the firmware itself but with some data which gets corrupted or wiped during the upgrade process on the vera plus... If it is like my previous upgrade, I will see another Zigbee crash within the week.
Openluup (18 devices, 58 scenes, 11 apps) and iobroker controlling VeraPlus with 116 zwave nodes, 8 Zigbee nodes, 7 apps, 244 vera devices, 79 scenes; VeraEdge (0 node, 26 devices, 6 App, 0 scene); Bridged to Homekit and Alexa.

Dear Chuck et al,
regarding your soapbox:

Do you really think for one minute that SmartThings is so much better than Vera?
Go read their forum and see how unreliable it is to rely on the cloud all the time.
I can't say that I know the answer, but having used both platforms, I have to tell you that there are pluses and minuses associated with each. In my humble opinion, the best thing that you can do to improve the reliability of your system is to change your devices to the best, the newest, the most supported devices that you can buy. Shrink your tech set if you can.

I believe the reason my setup is relatively stable is that I am using multiple controllers. Vera seems to get unstable if she has to manage too many devices and or plugins. My 'production' setup is a due of Vera 3's. One runs Ui5 (if it ain't broke, I don't fix it) and the other runs Ui7. Lately the Ui7 one has become less stable. I suspect due to the fact that some of the recent firmware updates failed (not enough memory) and the resulting factory reset and restore iterations, some gremlins have crept in. I have a 'QA' setup of a VeraPlus and VeraEdge that are slated to replace the old setup.

Because of my experiences with factory reset and restore I have decided to migrate by unjoining a device from one of the Vera 3's and then joining it with the Edge or Plus. This will be more time consuming and I'll have to rewrite my scenes but I'm expecting a more stable end result. The old 3's will both be going to the latest Ui7 versions and be used as test/qa (as well as backup) units.

I've looked at SmartThings but don't like the 'cloud' dependency. My only other option would be Homeseer as OpenHab is still too much in the tinkering stage. However Vera is stable enough for me not to feel the urge to jump ship so to speak. That doesn't mean I don't keep an eye on alternatives as a backup plan B. I don't truly need HA but I've gotten used to the creature comforts it offers me not wanting to give those up. :) It sucks I can't tell Alexa right now to play music on my Sonos speakers or to have Ooma call soandso. But I still have the Sonos app on my phone and soandso is in the phonebook on my Ooma connected phone...

In short, I feel comfortable enough with the latest firmware versions to start my device migration next weekend.

Are you having issues with the Ooma skill or do you somehow have it linked to Vera? I've had no issues asking Alexa for my Ooma messages during the current outage with Vera. I was a month ago, but deleted the skill, added it back in and now all is well.

Those aren't the only two systems out. Actually they are probley the cheapest though. Can't complain much when you use the cheapest hub out. They are both good for what they are.

No, the Ooma skill is only linked to Alexa. When I tell alexa to tell Ooma to call xxxx (which worked last week) she now tells me there was an error.

I may have to try the delete and re-add method as well to see if that fixes the issue. Thanks!
