Well for me this firmware upgrade has been a disaster. There was the initial issue with luup engine not loading, which required a factory reset, then I was unable to add any z-wave devices, and now all my z-wave devices have disappeared. Vera support has not responded to my emails for 4 days. My VeraPlus is non-functional.
It's very frustrating, because I had things working pretty well before the firmware upgrade, even my wife was starting to see that there are real benefits to automation in our home, it wasn't just me geeking out over some technology. Now I look like an idiot.
Nothing to do now I guess but leave a scathing Amazon review, and chuck this piece of crap in the trash. Maybe I will will try again with SmartThings.
Hi Tim,
I have not had great success with Vera Tech Support either, but I'm pretty sure you can try what I tried.
My VeraPlus upgrade. resulted in invisible but functioning devices. Devices ran in scenes but were invisible on the Vera CP. Lucky for me, Authomation HD on my Droid still displayed them and I knew they were "alive".
So here's what you can try (
***VERAPLUS ONLY*** Other devices us their own specific firmware***)
*****Make sure if you use a custom Vera IP you know it and the network /WIFI settings and password. Write them down if necessary.
1. Log on to Vera with a Windows PC. (I'm using Chrome OS, YMMV).
2. Go to Settings and then Backup.
3. Pick a backup that was created just before the day you upgraded firmware.
4. Left click to check the "Restore Z Wave network" for the backup file you want to restore.
5. Now left click on the word "Download" in blue. A copy of the backup file will be saved on your PC.
6. Make sure you know where the backup file is now saved. You'll need to know in a step coming up.
7. Now left click on Firmware which is also under Settings.
8. Copy the link below without the ***'s and paste it in the box next to "URL for custom Vera firmware:"
9. Left click on the "Download" button to the right.
10. If the link you pasted had no extra spaces or typos, you will be taken to a new screen.
11. Select "Restore to Factory Default State" from a dropdown under the "Save Backup" button.
12. Click Green "Start Upgrade Button. Wait at least 15 minutes, then refresh the browser.
13. Re-open Vera CP.
14. Go back to Settings, Backup. Scroll down to box with green "Upload" in it.
15. Go to that backup file you downloaded and copy and paste it into the box.
16. Check the "Restore Z Wave network" box.
17. Click green Restore button just below that check box.
18. Wait a few minutes and refresh browser. You should be back on 1.7.2935 and all devices should ve back.
19. Go to Settings, Network and WiFi and check, change anything as needed.
20. Beer time (if you choose).
Good luck. I'm offering this help but perform at your own risk. It worked for me but you may have a different outcome. If you do try... please let us all know how it goes!
