New service/variable/value
« on: November 12, 2017, 02:07:56 pm »
Each device in Vera offers the New service tab. How to go about. I need to get across a variable from outside vera using file_get_contents('http:etc') for later use in a scene.

The value is either 0 or 1 over last 24hrs for which I added the following:
New service: urn:upnp-org:serviceId:SwitchPower1
New variable: Last24hrs
New value: 0

Unfortunately, it does not seem to hold in the Variables list.  Any thoughts?

I think you need to enter this under Device Options > Configuration Settings..

No, it has nothing to do with configuration settings

It is under "Advance" -> "New Service"

New service: urn:upnp-org:serviceId:SwitchPower1

Are you sure that this is correct?

In most (all) cases I had it was "urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:ZWaveDevice1" if you wanted to add new variable to a device

You can use any server/variable combination you want that is NOT currently being used.
You also have to be consistent when you try to get the value.
All devices variables are uniquely identified by the ServiceID/Variable Name pair.
