Vera as UPnP Proxy
« on: January 19, 2011, 12:10:17 am »
Is it possible to add an existing UPnP device to Vera (in my case a Sonos Zone Player) and control it via the Vera HTTP request method (e.g. http://x.x.x.x:3480/data_request?id=lu_action&DeviceNum=45&serviceId=urn:upnp-org:serviceId:AVTransport&action=Play)?  When I try to do this I get the following error:

ERROR: No Control URLs for Device

Part of the reason I purchased Vera was to use it as a proxy for UPnP devices with a simple HTTP interface.  The paragraph on "UPNP aggregation & secure remote control" in the Luup press release claims that Vera will present existing UPnP devices over a secure gateway so I was assuming that the HTTP request interface would be available for them:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to discuss this on these [Sonos UPnP] related threads:

Thanks for the links...definitely helpful info.  At this point, though, my issue isn't really Sonos related.  It really applies to any UPnP device that you add to Vera.  I was hoping I would be able to control the device via Vera's HTTP interface but based on the "No Control URLs" error, that does not seem to be the case...unless it's just a configuration issue?

Are you able to control your UPnP devices via scenes?

Scene -> 'Advanced' tab -> 'Pick a device' -> select an UPnP action

If this does work, you could run the scene via http:

... and are you sure that the urn is correct?

Code: [Select]
urn:upnp-org:serviceId:AVTransport
urn:schemas-upnp-org:serviceId:AVTransport
urn:schemas-upnp-org:serviceId:AVTransport1
urn:upnp-org:serviceId:AVTransport1
...

Edit:
