Activation Code?
« on: February 02, 2011, 12:04:34 pm »
Another rookie question!

From the mymios menu, there is an Activation tab asking for a code.  I'm assuming once I enter the correct code I can access my vera remotely.

I get an "Invalid code format" error message when trying the following:

- Serial #
- WAN MAC
- I Tried a code from my activation e-mail from micasaverde

Does anyone know what activation code I need to enter?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not sure what the activation code should be, nor what it's used for.  I can confirm, though, that it isn't needed to be able to access your Vera remotely.  Once I log in to mymios, it lists my Vera system, and I can click on the Dashboard link below it to get to the Dashboard.  I can do this whether I'm at home or away.

I am also wondering what the activation code is for? What code shall I enter and where to get it from?

I'm pretty sure it's the five digit number of your unit.  It was confusing for me too since I hadn't thought of that as an activation code, but I'm pretty sure I input the five digit number and all was well.

Now, I forget how I originally came upon the five digit number, but I think somewhere during the initial setup and config wizard it told me what the number was.

Hope this helps.

When you create an account at cp.mios.com, it will try and find the vera on your network. Most of the time it will show up. However if this is being done remotely, then this is a different case.

BTW, the serial number of the unit is not necessary 5-digit long - early Vera1 units had 4-digit numbers. I believe they are sequential anyway...

As a brand new user, using Vera2 with Schlage deadbolt lock,
I have all the same questions as above.
1. What is the activation code?  Do we need it?  I know it's NOT the serial #.
2. Why don't I get any notifications?   I entered all the contact info on the account page.
3. And does anyone ever get 'official' replies or answers to these questions?

My next step I guess is to call the phone number on MIOS website.
Email/contact  from that page twice, with no reply.

Any advice or suggestions?   or results to inquiries?
Thanks in advance for help.  A summary here might help lots of new users.

That is a future feature, so right now it's not used.

I believe you've already spoken with Silviu and got things fixed.

You did. :)

Yes, to follow up on my problem, Silviu was very helpful over the phone and pointed out my basic error:

In the 'toolbox' page for the deadbolt device, when I clicked the notification tab
and asked for a message when a particular pin number is used, the answer
to 'which pin code number?'  is supposed to be the number from the list of pin codes,
NOT the four-digit pin code itself.

My experience today is that having a SMS text message sent is very fast;
getting email notification can be slow since you are at the mercy of whatever cell service/internet connection you have at the moment.
But the system now is working quite well.  And I appreciate the help from Tech Support
via the phone number listed on the MiOS web page.
