New Axis Network Camera with Z-Wave Plus
« on: February 01, 2018, 01:56:57 pm »
Nice to see Z-wave integrated into a good network camera, but their use case is pretty lame - I already change preset positions on a Foscam via Lua/HTTP in response to Vera triggers (don't like Foscam - it was just my first camera and won't die).

I think what I really want is for a POE network camera to have an on-board PIR that communicates that motion via Z-wave.  So the camera can be set to only record with PIR motion (not camera motion) AND to alert Vera about the motion so things like lighting could be triggered.  In theory this could be accomplished via a HTTP call from the network camera to Vera, but I haven't seen network camera with built-in PIR that supports custom HTTP commands when motion is detected - and I probably prefer the z-wave as you would have the option to do direct associations...
Long Live UI5!  (OK finally made the switch to UI7 in January 2018, and am pretty happy....)
