Vera Plus - DNSMASQ IP detection
« on: March 11, 2018, 09:46:41 am »
Hello,

I got the great VeraPlus and I am happy with its performance.

My problem is that the Ping plugin don't work properly with my IPhone since the phone don't respond to pings when the screen is off.

So I noticed when I SSHed into the VeraPlus that it has OpenWRT, which lead me to thinking that there must be a way for it to tell if a wireless device (i.e., my phone) is connected and disconnected, instead of pinging the device.

Now I found that dnsmasq can trigger a script when a device is added to the network. I don't know if the dnsmasq route will work upon connecting to the Vera SSID, but then would it be possible to get dnsmasq to trigger another script when a device disconnects from the network?

Sorry about all the questions

Since I am yet to find a reply. I decided to delve further and I can't seem to locate hostapd.conf.

Actually when I checked whether hostapd is running or not. It appears that the service is not running in the first place.

Is there an alternate service that VeraPlus is using other than hostapd? if not, why the hostapd service is not running!

Sorry again,
