Fortrezz SSA2 Siren with Vera 2
« on: April 21, 2011, 02:08:34 pm »
Hello Everyone

I'm wondering how many people were able to integrate Fortrezz SSA2 Siren with your Vera successfully.

I'm running into following message and not able to get it working with Vera.

"Failed to go into learning mode"

Please let me know.

Thanks
Vera 2 with Firmware 1.1.1245 / 5x Hawking Motion Sensor HRMD1 / 11x Hawking Door Sensors HRDS1 / 2x GE 45605 Receptacle / 1x GE 45609 2-Way On/Off / 1x GE45614 3-Way On/Off / Trane Thermostat / Foscam FI8918W / Foscam FI8904W

I have some of these devices but did not have any issues including them except having to exclude one of them first.

The "Failed to go into learning mode" is not device related. It's considered a Z-Wave "quirk" and the last time I experienced this error I had several other Vera's running in the same room and thought maybe it was RF interference so turned them off and tried again and it didn’t display the error and I was able to include......Coincidence I’m sure.
I saw a post of someone having this error that rebooted and then was able to include, so I think it's just a matter of luck (good or bad) and perseverance. Keep trying.

This error was the reason I opted to stay on 2.78 and use the Aeon dongle for inclusion
Hopefully one day it will get sorted.

JOD.

You may want to update your Vera firmware to 1.1.1245 beta.  I was just reading the release notes & found this in the 99 changes that were done.

14. Add support for Fortrezz WMA-02, with new 'Leak alarm' event

This might fix your problem.

I did reset the zwave network and tried again. Its reporting the same issue.

When exactly do you get this message: when you attempt to put Vera in inclusion mode, or while adding the siren? It sounds like the latter. I've seen the message blink by too (with other devices), but it never actually seemed to have an effect on the inclusion.

This message appears when I tried to add the Siren with the Vera. Vera is already in the inclusion mode.

I'm getting this message with only this device. I'm able to add other devices.

Thanks

Thanks for reconfirming that.

According to the instruction sheet there is a status LED on the siren; what does it say about the inclusion status?
Is the siren close to Vera when you attempt the inclusion?
Have you tried an exclusion?

On powerup it blinks once every few secs (as per manual, this says it's in NWI mode).

After sometime, I see 4 continuous blinks every few secs (it's not in any network as per manual)

Thanks

Is the frequency compatible with your system, US vs EU?

Did you try the inclusion when it was in NWI mode, or after that (i.e. when it was doing the 4 blinks)?

Yes. I tried in both modes.

During NWI, it automatically tried to add the device and the same message.

During the 4 blinks mode, i pressed the program button to add, again the same message.

I'm wondering if something wrong with my controller's zwave chip?

Thanks

Doesn't seem likely as 'everything' works except including this one device.

What's the distance between Vera and the siren?
Have you tried a full-power inclusion?

The distance b/w Siren and Vera is less than one foot.

Yes. MCV Support person, suggested to enable full power inclusion and it did not work.

Mmm. Try an exclusion, just for giggles. And try the opposite of close: create some distance and do a full-power inclusion.
