Amazon Dot used as a siren?
« on: April 01, 2018, 06:33:53 pm »
I have a vacation rental property where I have restricted access to a storage room using a z-wave enabled door lock.  Its not uncommon for the renter's kids to try to access the room by entering in random codes.  I always get an alert when a failed code is entered, which prompts me to text the parents and ask them to remind the kids not to temper with the locks.  But I'd like to automate a 10 second siren alarm upon a failed code to help the situation self-resolve faster (one group of kids actually guessed a correct code once!)

I'm getting ready to add a z-wave siren, and cheapest one I could find is about $25. But then I thought about adding an Amazon Dot instead.  I had considered it before as it would allow me to do a "drop in" two-way communication into that storage room.  Does anyone know if its possible to get the dot to play a siren sound as part of a scene? Not sure that any of the Alexa integration allows for sending commands to the Dot or not.  Appreciate any ideas.  Thanks.
