Zoning and 2stage variable speed furnace compatibility?
« on: September 29, 2011, 04:56:45 pm »
Appears the answer is yes, but looking for confirmation...

I am updating my furnace to a Trane or Lennox, possibly Carrier system. Which ever I choose will be a two stage furnace with a variable speed fan to go along with the two zones I'll have (upstairs/downstairs). The sales guys aren't familiar with z-wave.

Do we have any choices right now for thermostats that are z-wave and can control zones and multi speed furnaces, etc?  Thanks.

I have two Trane systems. One a 2-stage gas furnace, air conditioner with a variable speed air handler. The other a Trane heat pump with supplemental electric heat and a variable speed air handler. I 'm using Honeywell z-wave thermostats that I bought on Amazon that handle both conventional and heat pump multiple-stage systems. Had this a couple of weeks and it seems to work great!
