About 2018 May 17: for the time being, free keys will continue to work.  We will update you if that changes.

May need to try out the "DarkSky Weather" plugin in the AltUI appstore:

Any other alternatives for a weather plugin? Not interested in running an Alt UI.

You can use Site Sensor http://www.toggledbits.com/sitesensor/ plugin and set it up for OpenWeatherMap. The problem for me is that the weather informations provided are not very accurated, for example reality temp is 30?C and with OpenWeatherMap I get 20?C...

AltUI is well worth trying out. Regardless any plugin can be manually installed. Just download the "DarkSky Weather" plugin files from GitHub and upload them to your Vera. Then go through the plugin create process. This manual install process is described in various forum posts.

But then... how can I use the precipitation information regarding rain forecast and rain past for watering may lawn? oh no...

Good firmware is more important than good karma. (and this costed me lots of Karma)

Works only with ALTUI? Not in the Vera shop?

My SAYTHEWEATHER app still pulls the local weather from Wunderground and broadcasts it over Sonos when I have my breakfast. I am guessing current API keys will stay valid?

Mine still works.  I think it is new accounts that are not free.

Just got an email that they are shutting down the API at the end of the year, even if you have a paid plan.

This buggers both this plugin and the virtual rain sensor. They make some claim about a developer API for low use, but it looks like it won't be the same API meaning these plugins are probably naff without recoding.

This is what always happens when IBM buys a company. Say a prayer for Red Hat.

@Spanners

Maybe you can use the Dark Sky Weather plugin for your purpose instead?

I got the same e-mail.  Before I invest time in Dark Sky, has anyone been able to get temperature and conditions from Vera? These 2 data pieces appear to be in Vera somewhere, I just do not know how to get at it to incorporate it into my PLEG routines.

Thanks for the help but that link takes me to the Dark Sky instructions.

I re-found the MIOS plug-in so I can tweak my PLEG logic to look at that outside temperature when Weatherunderground stops working.  I just need to find conditions to complete the functionality I am using with Weatherunderground. The information is in Vera - just need to get at it.
