thanks for the help I have actually got it working it was all due to the instruction given to me by the seller to untick use 3.2 instead of 2.78 in the device options tab

as the sensor was a version 2.78 device

but I know now that you have to upgrade the device to your vera version not the other way around so leave the box checked to make the device use 3.2

That shouldn't matter as nodes should be backwards compatible. I've had my V2 running on 2.78 and 3.20 with zwave nodes that have versions that are likely to be older that 2.78!

I think you got some misinformation from the dealer :)

The whole process for migrating vera from 2.78 to 3.20 can go wrong, and will prevent you from being able to include properly if the zwave chip is not factory reset after, or the hack script is not used after the migration.

Dunno mate but all I know is as soon as I went back to using 3.2 it worked so Im happy

while your here do you know anything about foscam cameras cause I cant get it too work either as yet.

Ive got a pic on the dashboard but cant control the pan. Not that Im too worried about that.

All I want is to have the camera take a snapshot each time the sensor is tripped.

got any advice on this re settings and where is the  photo archived?

Good news anyway!

So for the Foscam, if you are using UI5 then I believe you may have to wait a few days until somebody figures out how to get the pan and tilt working again. It used to work with a custom plugin that was based off of the Panasonic one, however in UI5 the camera plugin is integrated and I dont think anyone has worked out how to update the device file with the Foscam specific PTZ commands... hold in there as I doubt it will be long :)

For the setup and archive of pictures you'll need to start by creating an account cp.mios.com that's associated with your Vera if you haven't done so already?!

The rest of the setup is all done through the cameras settings tab and you just need to tick the box for the sensor you want as the trigger, if you want a light to come on, and also if you want a picture to be archived etc.

See this post to get the controls to work on the camera. which model do you have? If it is the FI8918W model than use the file attached in the post below:

Strangely is correct, the plugin seems to be broken for the modified foscam controls in UI5.

thanks mate it is that model so I'll check it out. I did experiment with settings in the camera and found a few irregularities like....1. setting the record alarm paths it would not allow me to change them from the default settings...2.tried to check send a pic when alarm is tripped and after that internet explorer keep reporting a problem and wanted to shut down?

but I'll have a look at it again

thanks

Although the camera is capable to archive the pictures on its own, you don't need to change or configure anything in the camera itself to archive pictures on the mios servers, its vera that handles this when it pulls either the video or picture url from the camera. We know vera can get the pictures, so you likely need to set up vera to archive correctly.

Have you opened a cp.mios.com account?

@peterd, I'm guessing you are right clicking the link and selecting "save as"?

You need to actually just click the link and it will run a php script that will download the file.

It downloads fine for me.

Does it download as an xml? Also which browser are you running?

Nah it downloads as a php file and Im using mozilla ( I'll try  downloading using IE)

Another thing Ive noticed is that there isnt always a pic of me when I trip the sensor Iwas wondering if there is a time delay between the sensor trip and camera taking a photo and is that adjustable

Can you tell me what configuration settings your using Ive just set the camera using the example in the manual

Ive also noticed that  some of the pics are blurred when Im moving

And this morning I discoverd that my internet connection (which is wireless) had frozen overnight

So all in all its not going to be all that effective as a security camera at this rate
