Hi M.E.

I have not had any issued with this thermostat since.
Hope you can figure it out!
Flo

Thanks very much for the reply Flo.  I see your controller is a VeraLite.  Are you running z-wave version 3.20 or 2.78?
I remember seeing a post from you on a related thread about polling the CT30.  Do you currently have a scene schedule to poll CT30?

Thanks again.  M.E.

I am running 3.20.
I have a schedule set-up that polls the thermostat every 5 minutes. Also, I disabled the regular polling so Vera does not poll the CT30 automatically. If she polls the CT30 automatically the polling eventually stops....
Vera Lite (1), Kwikset Locks (2), 2Gig-CT30 Thermostat (1), D-Link IP Cam (1), Evolve DM-15 (1), Evolve LRM-15(AS) (4), Evolve LFM-20 (1), Evolve LSM-15 (1), Everspring Sensor (1), Intermatic HA02C (6), Intermatic HA03C (4), Wayne-Dalton HA-03WD (2), MCV Smart Switch (1)

No problem :)
So your main issue is that Vera stops polling your CT30?

My main issue is that I lose communication with the CT30s and a number of GE/Jasco switches.  Heal/repair just seems to make things worse.  Other z-wave devices on the network seem to continue to function Ok but seem sluggish.  I can generally recover the CT30s and the GE devices by doing a "hard reset" on each device.

Your scheduled polling sounds "hopefull".  I'll give that a go and see if it has any affect.  If it doesn't cure the issue then my next option will likely involve a 10 pound hammer.

Well your 10 pound hammer would be THE last solution  ::) ::) ::)
It sounds like there might be something else going on if you loose communication with multiple devices.
Try assigning a manual route to the devices that loose connection and see if that helps!

Have been trying to figure out how to assign manual routes for sometime now.  I'm petty au-fait with traditional IP networking but I have to admit the z-wave stuff leaves me alittle baffled.  What would be the notation for a manual route?

Go to your device options.
There you will see a manual route box. I have mine set up so it always talks to Vera directly (Vera is ID 0).
See the attached picture.
Hope this helps, how far is your thermostat from Vera?

Also, there is more info here: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,6898.msg44456.html#msg44456
My CT30s are (about) 25 and 35 feet away from Vera.  I had read that post and tried several combinations of devices nearest the CT30s without much luck.  I didn't try using "0".  Will give that a go.  Thanks again Flo.

Another thing.
When you specify the route, don't put in the device ID on the top left, you have to use the other ID listed :)

Hi Flo, thanks for all your help.  I set a manual route of "0" on the CT30's, set the polling interval to "never poll" and created a scheduled scene to poll the CT30s every 30 mins.  Its been about 5 days and so far I haven't had a reoccurence of losing communication with the CT30's or any other z-wave device.  Might be too early to celebrate but things looks very much better.

It looks great so far.... keeping my fingers crossed.
Let me know if there are any issues in the future.

I have not been back to these posts in a while and I continue to have the CT30 thermostat loosing the zwave connection issue. I have lived with this for about two years.  I have checked the firmware versions and I have version 1.7, they are in fact all paired with the cwire.  Has anyone who has had sucess in the workaround done so on thermostats with firmware other than v7.4?  Going into another winter it is impossible to live with this situation.  I was going to add a zwave relay module programmed to pulse the power (and not use any batteries in the thermostats) to the thermostats on a nightly basis becasue this seems to keep the thermostats alive.  The only alternative would be to dump these devices.. this has been the very worst part of using the zwave system! Radio thermostat has been totally unresponsive to me.  Also, does anyone know if it is possible to reflash the zwave radio modules with the most recent firmware and how to do so?  Thanks for any help here!

How frequently do you lose the connection? Have you tried running one of the thermostat on batteries?
Dezwaved at the moment...
