Title: IOS Beta
Post by: mmd on October 10, 2015, 12:34:58 am
So I stumbled on the beta that was release on 11 Sept and wow it's good.  Unfortunately no feedback for Vera because it just works so far.  I can actually use it like a remote to turn a light on instead of waiting for a minute and a half.  Highly recommend jumping on board to test here:  http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,33790.0.html

I'll second this. I got my wife signed up and the WAF has gone through the roof, relatively speaking.

The only thing I'd ask them to do would be to allow the list of devices to be collapsed into rooms, so I don't have to scroll through a bunch of stuff to get what I need.

Hi guys. The feature for having an option to make a quick jump to a section is coming pretty soon so please stand by. If you have any other ideas for features that would help improve your experience on using our app then don't hesitate to reply to this thread or submit your feedback directly on TestFlight.

Please add user friendly push notifications with custom text and maybe predifined tags like #date # time you can insert in notification. Now it dosen't look very nice with Vera generated notifications with a lot of numbers and id's. I don't want to see them and don't really have any use of them ;)

The current IOS beta is great indead, what a relief and what a difference in loading times. If you keep the app open it now almost gives you instant control. Opening the app from scratch is also much faster. Agree with Ceefin that the wife acceptance factor (WAF) has gone up a lot!
Bit dissapointed though that the unlock all doors and turn all lights on (two useless buttons IMHO) are still prominent on the first dashboard.

After the new update today, plugins also correctly display additional text and icons, controlling not yet available.

Hi guys,

Please check the latest update for the beta version and let us know what you think. Controls for plugins are now available.

After the new update today, plugins also enable controls in the IOS UI. I did not test it thouroughly yet but so far it looks impressive.

I have tried it since yesterday and it works great so far. No hanging, no freezing, and it is very fast when comparing to other third party apps.

Will we able to clear alerts from the ios app?

I would suggest VeraMobile has a refresh button so that users can refresh anytime they want. I have a problem with caching and have to navigate through a few buttons before the data is updated correctly.

Been testing for a few days and while it is a huge improvement overall, I am noticing that geofencing is still very unreliable. I am currently using the iphone locator app which I have tuned to be very reliable and wish the mios app would be able to reproduce that. I only intermittently get the away and home notifications. I also would like more control over how it behaves, namely how frequently it is reporting location and how the location would affect the vera besides just changing house mode from home to away. I suppose the app is sending the location or is it the server which is pinging the phone?

Also noticed a typo in the map. "hybrid" Vs. "hybryd"

Also been testing it, the 'global' default functions and GUI work great but the app lack some (for me ) important functions:

- it does not reqonize any virtual switches/devices/apps
- geofencing does simply NOT work, totally unreliable
- there is no way to use geofencing to start a scene
- no reload button
- no auto reload when apps open to get actual live data

New version of IoS app (2.4 - 38) available:

Quote
iOS App:
- Touch ID and pin code. Adds an extra layer of security to the application. You can setup a pin code from Settings -> Application.
- Rooms Overview - A quick glance right from the Dashboard to all the rooms in the house that have associated devices. Depending on what sensors you have installed, a sequence of camera images, temperature, humidity, lightness and power consumption will be displayed.

Apple Watch:
- Apple Watch App - basic interface for changing house modes and viewing alerts. You can setup a small modular complication to start the Vera watch app right from the clock interface.

Touch ID works, interesting feature but not really sure why I should use it (I always lock my phone), it is not enabled by default
Rooms overview: also interesting, changing icon with temperature, energy usage etc.
Unfortunately geofencing still does not work. Also a reload button is not available. The app is getting better though!

And today again a new update for the IoS app (2.4 - 40) available:

Quote
This version includes under the hood improvements and bug fixes. It is a release candidate to be published in the App Store.

Unfortunately, still does not pickup exiting my geolocation and triggering a scene adequately.
Title: Re: IOS Beta
Post by: Pietor on December 16, 2015, 04:16:09 am
Specific issue: When I create a scene in the new IoS app and attach a geolocation as a trigger, then edit the scene in the web GUI (so not on the device), the geolocation trigger seems to be removed, also when I check this on the IoS device, the geofence trigger is removed from the scene.

Update: When I attach a geolocation as a trigger to a scene in the IoS app, save the scene, the geolocation is succesfully attached after rechecking in the app. However, when I close the app and reopen the app, and then go to the same scene, the geolocation is not attached as a trigger to the scene anymore.

I have problems with geolocation and latest beta too. It only works sometimes.

This was my last email into the feedback address...

Quote
I like the latest room overview, but the area sensitive to touch is way too small. It takes me 2-3 times to hit the right spot on the screen to go to that room. Suggestion: make the area bigger or make the whole rectangle touch sensitive

Scene activation/power button - same problem as before. I have one scene that I turn on/off as needed (it makes my christmas tree modulate light intensity. Sometimes it gets annoying). If I try to turn it on/off from my phone, I get terrible feedback from the app (it doesn't show a change at all) and may or may not actually do anything to the scene. I can tell it to deactivate the scene, the power button stays green, and no change is effected. Suggestion: don't let it do that.

Moving on from the scene editor, I've found that the app hangs when I hit the menu button. It won't let me go to the dashboard or to the devices tab, or even go back to the scene list. I have to double-click the home button and kill the app and restart to go anywhere. Suggestion: :)

Overall though I'm quite pleased with the improvement over the app that was released in January, which forced me to work with third party apps. My wife has been using the beta as well, and while I told her not to upgrade to this latest version, she has been much happier with how things work on a daily basis using it. Please fix these latest issues which are basic functionality and it'll be a solid release.

I apologize that I have not been able to contribute much in the way of geofencing, which appears to be a big working issue. I'll eventually get to the point where such a function is useful for us.

Thank you!

Anyone else having similar problems?
Title: Dimmers not working
Post by: Dragos Perju on December 22, 2015, 04:08:58 pm
Hi guys,

Does anyone among you had any issues related to dimmers?

Some of our users that installed the release version from App Store that was published yesterday witch is based on the core of the latest beta are complaining that some of their dimmers are presented with only an on/off switch and the lightness slider is missing.
Please reply here if you had similar issues.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Yes I have that exact problem. About 3 months ago or so during the Test Flight beta app version the dimmer disappeared. I only have on/off control.

I am hit and miss as well on the geofence activating. But also, even when it does activate the scene that should be triggered never fires the action. I have two scenes, a home and gone scene. When I enter or exit the geofence the scene should turn on or off, respectively, a multiswitch plugin switch. If I manually activate the scene from Vera Mobile the switch status changes and I get a message saying the scene was activated. If a cross the geofence either nothing happens or I only get a notice saying that I entered or exited the geofence but no notice that the scene was activated and no change in switch state.

IOS Testlfight says the beta app will expire in 16 hours. Any change of a new update? Otherwise the app will be useless and disabled for beta testers.

Don't update if you have digits or characters in your username. You won't be able to login to the app if you update the app via TestFlight . Just FYI. An overlooked bug in the character acceptance of the login

When adding new devices from ios, the name I enter doesn't stick, though the room does. The devices do add correctly for all other featured and configurations.

Would be nice to have a more compact listing when scrolling through devices. As I add devices,I find myself spending a lot more time scrolling through the list. Most of my switches are dimmers, and those take up a lot of space.

The issues you are talking about it's already solved. We will release a new beta version this week that will also bring back room overview so it's going to be easier to scroll through devices as they are grouped by room.

Thank you for your feedback.

Will the next version have widgets?  I am using VeraMate right now specifically because of that.  Contrary to what I read though, the Vera app is much more reliable than VeraMate so far so i would rather just simplify life.

Can we have the ability to add a scene as a favourite to the dashboard screen or is this a Vera firmware change requirement? Will sent it as a change request that way as well

Customizable Today Widgets and full Dashboard customization (including scenes) will be supported later this year 😊. Beta users are going to be the first to enjoy this features.

The app on the App Store was launched and has the same features as the latest beta, except for rooms overview feature.
A new beta version will be launched next week.

ABSOLUTELY!  To be able to generate a simple "The front door opened" instead of the alerts we get now would be awesome.  having variables like #date# #time# would be a bonus..   As it stands now, I disable all alerting because it's just not friendly, unless we're going on vacation, when I want to know when people come feed the pets..
