Title: Philips Hue plugin by MiOS (BETA)
Post by: andreimios on July 20, 2015, 04:22:51 am
Hi all,

Here is the beta version of Philips Hue plugin by MiOS, all you need to do in order to install it is to replace _IP_ with your gateway's IP and run it in your browser.
Code: [Select]
_IP_:3480/data_request?id=action&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1&action=CreatePlugin&PluginNum=8162&Version=28058
Features :

- lights support;
- groups support;
- scenes support (create, edit, favorite);

Known issues :

- auto-detection feature on VeraEdge is not working properly;
- Hue Lux implementation may be defective (not fully tested);
- Hue Beyond, Entity, Impulse and Phoenix may be defective(need your help on testing it);
- Vera scenes support is limited.

Plugin configuration :

In order to pair your bridge with plugin you will need to go to "Device Settings page\ Configure tab" for the bridge device created by plugin. Auto detection feature may or may not work so there are two situations:

- if the bridge is detected (info messages can be found in "Link Status" section of Configure tab) all you need to do is to press the pair button on the bridge and then click on "Pair with Bridge" button.

- if the bridge is no automatically detected, you can enter the bridge IP and click on "Save" button. Wait for engine to reload and  then press the pair button on the bridge and then click on "Pair with Bridge" button.

After pairing, the plugin will create light and group devices for each light/group found on the bridge.
You can create,save to favorites and edit scenes for "Scene List" tab.

For any issue/suggestion you have, please contact me via email : andrei at mios dot com.

Best Regards,

- Andrei -

I tried it in UI5 and it installs well however when it asks to press the "Pair with Bridge" button, nothing happens in MIOS. Now I'm not sure if I need to remove the previous philips hue plugin and/or upnp proxy.

It had created a new device but that device is hidden. It shows up under the devices created by a plugin when I click the plugin but yeah, nothing else.

Anyway, if you're looking for someone to keep testing in UI5 let me know to proceed or I'll just remove it :)

Cheers

Congratulations on joining the watou Club, intveltr!

But seriously... I've looked at the code.  It's nice and clean and well structured.  I'm considering whether I should switch to using it.

One bug, I think, is that the code assumes brightness=0 means "off".  On the hue bridge, it isn't: brightness=0 is the dimmest "on" value (and brightness=254 is the brightest "on" value).  I use this lowest brightness value in my wakeup scene; it's a fair bit dimmer than brightness=1.  I'd be sad to give it up.  (I realize that you have to map the 255 "on" brightnesses and one "off" state to a 0-100 scale for the UPnP Dimmer device.)

A stylistic niggle: Philips always spells hue with a lower case H.

More feedback:

Discovery worked automatically. Pairing worked first time and all of my lamps were detected (GU10, A19, Bloom and Strips), also all of my groups.

The plugin does not seem to poll, so if I change a lamp through my phone (or intveltr's plugin, or OpenHab, or IFTTT) then the lamp device in Vera doesn't change.  (Or did it just need an extra Luup restart?) Edit: It seems that it does poll, but only after I interact with each device once (e.g., turn it on).  Thereafter it is fairly responsive in updating when I make changes on another device.  I'm guessing that a variable isn't getting a default value on device creation and something's being compared against nil.

There are no presets as in intveltr's plugin.  I assume that bridge scenes will take over this role but I cannot access them in the new plugin (yet).

"Scene List"/"Settings"/"Logs"/"Delete Device" are inaccessible on the top level device.  They appear then disappear before I can click them.

When I try to set the brightness of a lamp in the detail view I get this in the log:
Code: [Select]

I have installed it in UI7 (will try UI5 later).

It found my Hue bridge and paired on the first try.  After restart, the device shows a green icon indicated a successful pairing.  It did not create any light devices however; from the log files it looks like the plugin chokes on a Living White bulb that doesn't report any color data.

(I've mailed detailed logs and Hue config data)

@futzle, thanks :)  "nice and clean and well structured" sounds like they started from scratch, which is just as well.  I'm a messy programmer, and I don't have the time to properly maintain this plugin; I wrote it out of necessity.  By the way, Vera Ltd was nice enough to drop me a heads-up email a few days ago about their intentions and reasons for publishing this plugin.
Title: Re: Philips Hue plugin by MiOS (BETA)
Post by: intveltr on July 21, 2015, 09:04:48 am
The Living White bulb is recognized after a behind the scenes fix, and all my lights appeared in the UI.  The basic functionality works on all lights.

Not having color presets in Vera isn't a huge deal if there is an easy way to set the color directly from Scenes, even if it's by specifying numerical Hue / Sat or Color temp values.

Not ure what is going on with polling.  It seemed to work fine until I restarted the Hue hub (to install new firmware), then the plugin would not poll anymore until I restarted the Luup engine.  Controlling the lights worked fine as soon as the hub came back up though.

Hi all,

Here is the link for the plugin version that includes the fix mentioned buy intveltr :

I forgot to mention in my first post that the minimum firmware version required for using "Bridge Scenes" features is 1.7.619 for Vera 3/Light and 1.7.1248 for Vera Edge

I noticed the Hue, Sat and othr color vars can be set directly from a Vera scene using the Advanced feature.  This also allows you to execute Hue scenes, though I haven't tried that yet; the scenes list appears to be a bit messed up.  I have several entries in the list with the same name.

I tried installing the plugin on my Vera 3 running UI5 (my production machine), and got the same result as @helraiser: a device was created by the plugin but it did not show up in the UI.

I have not uninstalled the old Hue plugin yet, and it uses similarly named files (I_PhilipsHue1.xml)  Could there be a naming collision between the two plugins?

Gonna have to dust off and connect my Hue hub and link  my 2 GE bulbs to it.

I don't think so; I've got both installed side by side and they both function as designed.

What models of lamps have you associated with your hue bridge? Any hue lux or an off-brand lamp that cannot have its colour temperature changed, perchance?

Downgraded from .649 to .619. Removed plugin and re-loaded. Seemed a cleaner install but still having issues. Since I have an entire house of these bulbs, sure would be nice if this worked. Any suggestions andrei ?

mcv.andrei, I installed this today and noticed a couple of minor bugs that stopped the initialization routine in L_PhilipsHue2.lua from properly starting (it would not add all lights on bridge to Vera).  I have implemented the use of manufacturer name to allow for use of Cree Connected bulbs as well.  It works on my machine, but your mileage may vary...

I have been using lua to control nearly everything that you have added to this plugin.  Excellent modifications to this plugin... thanks to you and invetlr!

8/11/2015: Corrected minor bug that did not allow plugin to load all lights.  Also added the ability for this plugin to recognize bulbs other than Hue bulbs (e.g. CREE Connected).

8/17/2015: Uploaded files should replace existing LUUP files.  I have added the ability for the plugin to work with the Vera UI "Turn all On/Off" button.  The plugin searches for groups if a "switch off" command is initiated from the Vera UI.  If it doesn't work for you try creating groups of lights.

Warning:  These modifications will likely be overwritten once the plugin is out of BETA status.

See attached .zip for my proposed updates.

When I program Hue, Color and Saturation in scenes using the Advanced feature, this seems to work at first, but the lights go out directly after! All lights in the scene turn on to the desired level, and then after a second or so (I guess it takes that much time before the hue/color commands are sent) the lights turn off again. But only the lights for which I configured those extra (hue/color) commands. When I delete those from the scene for a particular light, it acts normal again. I think I did it correctly: using Color Temperature values for the bulbs, and using Hue and Saturation values for the Friends of Hue lamps (which don't support Color Temperatures).

I have some scenes mentioned up to 12 times! And I can't seem to delete them. By the way, I think the scenes are stored in Hue bridge's memory, right? As I see certain scenes that I created some time ago in an iOS app that I already deleted. Does anybody know how to delete those?

OK, I dived into this a little deeper, and apparently scenes cannot be deleted via the API (?!). Therefore, most apps just hide the scenes that you want to delete. I ended up performing a factory reset of my Hue bridge, to start with a clean sheet.

Just installed the plugin. Pairing went good, responsiveness is ok.
Only my Philips Hue Beyond lamp isn't controlled very well. I'd like to use the group functionality for this. Now the system detects alle individual bulbs (like it should be), but the group for the Beyond lamp as total doesn't update when i edit individual lamps.

What i would really like:
- Group power state indicates on when at least one bulb of the group is on.
- would like to use the color picker for a group of bulbs
- when i change my Vera mode, i can't select an action for my Hue bulbs

If you need any help with testing, let me know.

To make a regular Vera scene invoke a hue scene, you have to go into the advanced editor and add an the action "urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1/RunHueScene".  The scene name is a 13-digit integer (looks like a JavaScript datestamp); you can find a scene's name from the hue top-level device's Advanced tab in the BridgeScenes variable.

It's a bit convoluted but for a handful of scenes it's doable.

I want to turn my living room hue lights on for 2 minutes at night when a motion dector is tripped. This scene works like a charm, but now I only want to do this is the lights were off at the moment of tripping. How do I know which variable I have to check in the lua code? Thnx in advance for helping me out.

I just got a Hue and 2 blooms and installed the plugin. Took some doing to get it to link with the bridge.  The app under Configure kept on telling me to press the "pair with Bridge' button and then the link button on the bridge and then the 'pair with bridge' button again. Link status stays on 'please press the link button on the bridge and hit the pair button again'.
Rebooted the Hue bridge twice and after the 2nd reboot the plugin paired and is showng my 2 blooms and lets me control them.

I like the color picker and the fact that the dashboard icons show a bloom and show the color that is set. Setting the color is most definitely sluggish on a Vera 3 and may need some speed up. It takes  5 to 10 seconds after setting the color to be able to set the intensity.

Attention MCV: Philips is changing the mechanism by which all clients (such as the hue plugin by MiOS) must generate a username.  See here (http://www.developers.meethue.com/documentation/getting-started) or here (http://www.developers.meethue.com/documentation/configuration-api#71_create_user) for the details.  The old username mechanism will cease to work in early 2016.

Hi all,

A new beta version is available, use the following link to install :
Code: [Select]
GATEWAY_IP:3480/data_request?id=action&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1&action=CreatePlugin&PluginNum=8162&Version=28791
New features :

- color picker added to groups;
- new color picker implementation for Hue scenes (on creation or edit); In order to avoid confusion, we decided to name them "Hue Presets"
- support  for Multisource Luminaires;
- All On/Off buttons support;
- select a favorite Hue Preset in Scenes step 2: Actions
- changed mechanism for getting the username - thank you futzle for pointing this out;

!!!NOTE!!!
You will need to install a new firmware on your gateway in order to test this plugin version. This firmware is similar with 7.11 release and contains some changes for the Philips Hue plugin.
Firmware URL for Vera Edge: http://builder1204.mios.com/mt7620a_betafirmware/mt7620a_Luup_ui7-1.7.1424-en-mios.squashfs . Soon I will provide the URL for Vera 3.
Please keep in mind that this is a NIGHTLY BUILD (not fully tested) if you want to install it on your main controller!!!

No, it doesn't. This is basically the 7.11 release with the changes required for this new Philips Hue plugin version. As a note, my colleagues are working on fixing this issue and if everything is ok, if QA confirm the fix, I will post the new firmware URL.

It should work without removing it but to be sure all initial configuration settings are made, you could uninstall it before updating.

Andrei, thank you for the update and the effort. I'll hold off until you post the link to a ZCOMBO fixed version for Vera 3 and will give it a try then. Since I now added my HTR Receivers blaring loudly to the 'Fire!' scene I would prefer it not go off every 30 minutes. :)

Just installed the FW and new plugin version. Response rate is a lot better! Thanx andrei. Detection of my beyond luminaire works fine. Only the luminaire color picker doesn't seem to work.

Can anyone please enlighten me how to use this plugin in a luup script?

I want to set Hue and Saturation and of course the brightness - I can turn then on and off but I can't get the rest working - not via set_variable and not via call_action ...

Does this plugin have the functionality to invoke the 'colorloop' effect for Hue bulbs in scenes - i.e., the  {"effect":"colorloop"} resource? It would be great to be able to have a scene start a colorloop effect!

This is not supported yet, but it will be added in a future plugin version.

I want to set Hue and Saturation and of course the brightness - I can turn then on and off but I can't get the rest working - not via set_variable and not via call_action ...

For this you can use :

Code: [Select]
http://GATEWAY_IP/port_3480/data_request?id=lu_action&DeviceNum=LIGHT_DEVICE_ID&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1&action=SetHueAndSaturation&Hue=VALUE&Saturation=VALUE
http://GATEWAY_IP/port_3480/data_request?id=lu_action&DeviceNum=LIGHT_DEVICE_ID&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1&action=SetColorTemperature&ColorTemperature=VALUE

You can also run a scene like this :
Code: [Select]
http://GATEWAY_IP/port_3480/data_request?id=lu_action&output_format=json&DeviceNum=BRIDGE_DEVICE_ID&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1&action=RunHueScene&Scene=SCENE_ID
Note1: "SCENE_ID" should be the id reported by the bridge. You can find the ids by looking at "BridgeScenes" variable from the bridge device created by the plugin in user_data.
Note2: Plugin gets automatically 6 hue scenes(we call them hue presets to avoid any confusion with the scenes in Vera) that are displayed on bridge device. These presets can be edited and used in scenes as actions.

All the Bests,

You can give it a try and give us your feedback. Both plugins should work in the same time, there is no problem with this. It is possible to have some issues with it, I don't have all Philips hue devices to test it, that is why I released the plugin as a beta version. Thanks to the people here, lots of issue were found and fixed. If you want, you can install it and let me know if you have any issues.

As a note, the official version will be released soon with additional features that are not included in this beta version.

I have a Vera Lite system and the Philips Hue bridge is connected and live, but the only lights that I use are the GE Link (less expensive, dimmable lights). They show up on my Hue app but not on Vera. Any suggestions?

Hi elvincent,

It seems to be the same situation as in the case of Cree lights, the support for GE Link lights is not included, I don't know all friends of hue models. There is an easy fix for this, but I will need access to your unit to see how the lights are reported by the bridge. Please enable tech support and send me the access codes via email.

you're right, the device is there.

I see my 2 HueLux Devices, I also see my Hue scenes. The Link Status shows "Connected" and 3 out of 4 stripes are green.

But I can't control my lights!

What can I do to debug this?

I'm also running the 1.7.692 firmware on my vera3

I have another problem with this beta. I like to send only light ON commands to hue, because I can't do that today with "device actions" in scenes (they always send ON + BRIGHTNESS) I use luup code to do that. The problem is when I use vera's "device actions" to turn lights OFF they send not only command OFF to hue but first change brightness to lowest value and then send OFF command so no matter which brightness value I had before I switch them OFF next time I send turn ON command they are always at lowest brightness. It could be also great in the future to have possibility to only turn hue lights ON without changing brightness so we can use last state of hue lights.

I have the issue that my Philips Hue Light Bulps don't show up in ui7. When I configured the plugin they weren't connected so maybe the plugin wasn't able to find em. But now, even if they get power I cannot see them on ui7. I can control the via the hue app however, so it's not a general issue of hue.

So I guess my main question is, how can I add new hue devices later, when everything on ui7 is set up already?

Hi all,

A new plugin version can be installed with the BETA firmware release from this month :

After using this plugin in several days it feels nice. I miss hue "group" functionality. Are you put in back in final release? Are going to optimize speed when sending commands in scenes? Right now it feels slow with 3-4 seconds to turn lights with motion sensor. With Luup code in scenes it takes only 1 second to do the same thing on my VeraEdge.

And for those interested in new products from Philips, here is the Bridge 2.0
http://www2.meethue.com/en-us/productdetail/philips-hue-bridge (http://www2.meethue.com/en-us/productdetail/philips-hue-bridge)

For those who already have a bridge, their offering 33% off. And it's currently out of stock....

Quote
The new square-shaped Hue bridge adds Apple HomeKit compatibility. Besides HomeKit, the new Hue bridge offers all the existing features and compatibility with existing Hue lights, Hue taps, Hue wireless dimmer switches, Philips Hue apps for iOS and Android and the broad range of third party Hue apps.

The new Hue bridge is ready for the future as it has way more internal memory and more powerful processor than the old Hue bridge. For more information on HomeKit visit www.meethue.com/apple-homekit

You can recognize the new Hue bridge by its square shape versus the old round shaped bridge.

Seems the 2.0 versions basically adds Apple Homekit support and not much else. As my home is an Apple-free zone, I don't see the need to spend $40 at this time. Philips has stated they will replenish stock weekly on these until the end date in December.

Yes, I agree. It wouldn't be much of an ROI unless you notice a performance decrease when reaching a bridge limit. I'm not even sure that would really happen as I'm sure there was a reason for the 50 bulbs. I actually have 2 bridges to split the load but I'm nearing probably 24 on one and 28 on the other. I see no performance issues.

For those of us still using Blong's version which patched MCV's release of Philips Hue support (Cree and Lux bulbs) - a minor bug was discovered by Akbooer which disabled the polling within openLuup.

Previously:
Code: [Select]
function Init(lul_device)
local bridgeLink = luup.variable_get(SID.HUE, "BridgeLink", device) or ""

Corrected:
Code: [Select]
function Init(lul_device)
local bridgeLink = luup.variable_get(SID.HUE, "BridgeLink", lug_device) or ""

mcv.andrei, I installed this today and noticed a couple of minor bugs that stopped the initialization routine in L_PhilipsHue2.lua from properly starting (it would not add all lights on bridge to Vera).

Just got my Hue starter kit today, and this plugin is sooo close to actually being good.

Issues I've encountered so far:

1. Can't choose the Hue Plugin Device from the Scene editor to run scenes etc, however if you add it in the advanced editor, you can then manipulate it in the basic scene editor to choose a favourite Hue Preset without having to figure out the hex string for it.
2. Hue Presets created on the Hue app seem to require a Vera reboot to get refreshed (or at least I've not found a way to reliably do it).
3. I can't control the individual lights - I get "Command Failed" if I try to control a globe on/off or dimmer directly.
4. When creating a Hue Preset on Vera, the brightness value of the lights doesn't reliably get set and saved. And you can't seem to run them off from a Vera created preset - minimum value is 1% even if you set to zero in the editor. Colour selection seems to be fine.
5. Hue Presets would be much more useful if they simply presented themselves as Vera Scenes for use in Remote control apps.
6. Hue Presets set on Vera don't replicate over to the Hue App (not sure if it's supposed to).

So basic summary: If you want to run Hue Presets created on your App from Vera, this works great. Everything else needs some polishing up.

Hi BlueSmurf,

Quote
1. Can't choose the Hue Plugin Device from the Scene editor to run scenes etc, however if you add it in the advanced editor, you can then manipulate it in the basic scene editor to choose a favourite Hue Preset without having to figure out the hex string for it.
5. Hue Presets would be much more useful if they simply presented themselves as Vera Scenes for use in Remote control apps.

In order to add support in our scenes for hue lamps, there are some big changes that needs to be done in our scenes workflow. That is why we only added the possibility to set a hue preset as an action for a scene. Including hue lights in our scenes is on our road map but I cannot give you an ETA for this right now.

Quote
2. Hue Presets created on the Hue app seem to require a Vera reboot to get refreshed (or at least I've not found a way to reliably do it).

This is a plugin issue and I think it can be fixed in a future version. I will add it on my to-do list.

Quote
3. I can't control the individual lights - I get "Command Failed" if I try to control a globe on/off or dimmer directly.

Failed status for a hue device is set based on what the bridge reports :
"state" : {
                "on" : false,
                "bri" : 189,
                "alert" : "none",
                "reachable" : false
            },

If plugin gets the "false" value, then it sets the corresponding device as failed and you cannot control it from UI.

Quote
4. When creating a Hue Preset on Vera, the brightness value of the lights doesn't reliably get set and saved. And you can't seem to run them off from a Vera created preset - minimum value is 1% even if you set to zero in the editor. Colour selection seems to be fine.

I will forward this to our QA team for validation.

Quote
6. Hue Presets set on Vera don't replicate over to the Hue App (not sure if it's supposed to).

I don't know the logic behind official hue app, but I also noticed that not all the scenes reported by the bridge are displayed in hue app. Plugin uses the official hue API. Creating a preset is done following hue rules and I cannot tell you why these presets are not shown in the official app.

Thank you for your feedback.

All the Best,

- Andrei -

Hi Andrei,

For making hue scenes available as Vera scenes, might be a matter of not overthinking it (here's one for the plugin authors perhaps?). All we really need is a bit of code that automatically creates a Vera scene called Hue_<preset name> for each favourited hue preset which has one action - Hue plugin execute <preset name>. If a preset is deleted/unfavourited, remove the scene.

Speaking of which, it'd be nice to be able to delete a Hue Preset from Vera. Seems you can only create/edit them.

I think the problem with failed status might be the same as the hue presets getting refreshed - the status has gone to reachable:false at some point, but never gets updated again. I was briefly able to control one bulb when I initially set everything up, but when I moved the bulb to new location I've not been able control it since. The others were still in the box, so were initially unreachable but haven't changed status since being plugged in.

Cheers,

BlueSmurf.

Basically you want the plugin to automatically create the scenes for you. This is not what we want, you can create them and select as action the hue preset you need. This automation is not part of the plugin, think of it like a device, after pairing it, there is no scene automatically created, you can add it later.

The hue API does not allow us to delete the scenes :

Quote
4.5. Delete scene
Scenes cannot be deleted from the bridge. When the maximum number of scenes has been reached the scene which has been used the least is recycled.

I know that hue app have a delete scene option but it seems it is only hiding the scene, it is not actually deleted.

Plugin is polling the bridge constantly. If the bridge reports that a bulb is not reachable then I set the bulb as failed. If at some point the bridge reports that bulb as reachable again, the plugin uploads the bulb device as not failed. So if the bridge is not detecting the state of the bulb properly, then is nothing that plugin can do. Someone suggested to add the possibility to disable "failed status" feature and I will do so it in a future plugin version, but this will not fix the range issue you have.

That's an odd design decision, but let's assume that Philips know that they're doing.

I doubt I have a range issue - the 3 bulbs and the Hue Hub are in the same room. About 4 metres apart. Is there a way to see on the Hue hub directly what status it is reporting for the lights? If it's showing reachable, then there's an issue with the plugin.

I'm on the same page as you here, I would prefer some thing to be automatically done for me, but you missing some things here. From what you told me, I understand what will be the action for the scenes that you want to be automatically created, but how should I know the trigger? Also the plugin role is to communicate with devices that are not supported by default and provide you a way to use these devices in your automation based on your needs.

You can query the bridge like this :

Code: [Select]
http://BRIDGE_IP/api/CODEwhere CODE can be found in advance settings for the bridge device, "username" filed.

If the bridge is not reporting the bulbs as failed and the plugin is not updating the status, please send me an email with tech support access codes so I can take a look on your unit.

Hi BlueSmurf,

As told in the email, your devices were not working due to wrong "device_type" and "device_file" set for the main plugin device. I changed them to the right ones (in advance settings tab) and now it seems that your lights can be controlled.
Correct values for the above variables are :

device_type = urn:schemas-micasaverde-com:device:PhilipsHue:1
device_file = D_PhilipsHue2.xml

Hi,

One question,  how does vera evaluate scene completion with hue bulbs?   I Have have a rather large Z-wave(approx 100 Devices) and hue network (approx 35 Devices).  I also have 8 Leviton VRCZ4MRZ Scene controllers.  Some times the vera will correctly set the LED on the VRCZ4MRZ correctly when a hue bulb is in the scene other times it does not.  Also,  I am not sure how hue group devices are treated in scene completion status.  Also,  is it possible to change the default color used by Vera for scene ON and OFF for the VRCZ4MRZ?

One last thing that are just nits,  the plugin is showing the lightstrip plus as a bulb and Hue White and Color Ambiance Extension Par16 Bulbs, 2nd Generation with a GU10 base.

Amazing work on the plugin!!!

Hi mwsweet,

Quote
One question,  how does vera evaluate scene completion with hue bulbs?

Plugin is treating the command execution status. It is based on the response received when queering the bridge. Based on this, the job(setting a hue color, running a scene etc...) is set as successful or not.

Z-wave devices are not controlled by plugins, it's back-end job to do it. So I cannot tell you why the status is not interpreted correctly, you will need to open a support ticket and ask my colleagues fro Customer Care to take a look at your unit. But I guess that the large z-wave network you have can be a cause , maybe some nodes are not reachable or something.

Regarding the UI changes, this cannot be done.

When I developed the plugin, I didn't had all the bulbs for testing. Can you please enable tech support and send me the access codes via email so I can add the correct icons for these bulbs? You can add any additional information you consider useful.

Hi,

A Quick update on this.  I have discovered if you do anything with a hue bulb in a scene besides the basics (ON/OFF and/or DIM), the scene will not evaluate as active.  So if you set hue/sat as part of the scene the scene will not evaluate as active.   Interestingly,  if you do the hue/sat setting in the LUUP section and then the (ON/OFF or DIM) in the normal part of the scene,  then the scene will evaluates as active.

Hi BlueSmurf,

Thank you for the update.
On a fast look, only the scenes created with the new API can be deleted. The older ones are saved on the bulbs and we don't have control over them. Like you said, there are some big changes in this new API version and I need to investigate more. I will forward these on my side and we will see when the time will be allocated for implementing these changes.

Until we will update the plugin, please do not update the firmware on your Philips hue bridge! This may cause the plugin failure!

@Andrei: Oops! I didn't see your 'do not update' warning until well after I updated the Hue bridge firmware. So far, so good as my HUE blooms can still be controlled by the plug-in.

I just purchased one of the new lightstrip+ as WorstBuy had them on sale for $69.95. I will update when I have that one unpacked and added to the hub.

Using the request to update the plugin is similar with plugin auto-update feature. Normally this should not cause any changes on your configuration. We recommend to backup your system every time you make some changes just to be sure you can revert back to a previous working state is some issues occur.

Andrei,

I too updated the the bridge before I saw the post.   The thing I now notice is that occasionally the ON/OFF switch for the plugin cycles on and off every 5 seconds or so and when it is doing this,  I can not control and hue lights.   To fix it,  all I do is actually click on the off button and then back on.   When i cycle the switch it randomly turns on a bloom.  Not sure what triggers this behavior or even what the switch on the plugin does   (with the switch off I can still control hue devices).

I notice if you do anything with a hue bulb in a scene besides the basics (ON/OFF and/or DIM), the scene will not evaluate as active  (if you set hue/sat or Colortemp as part of the scene the scene will not evaluate as active.   Interestingly,  if you do the hue/sat setting in LUUP section and then the (ON/OFF or DIM) in the normal part of the scene,  then the scene will evaluates as active.

Also, when setting a series of bulbs (let's say 3),  all to the same color,  often one will not change and you have to run the scene again to get it to work.  I have no idea but it might be related to if the bulb is in a state,  you change it with a scene,  then you change it back to the original scene before it has updated the current value it doe not send the command.  Without seeing the source code i'm guessing you might not be sending a command if you think the bulb is already on the requested state.

Still amazed at the progress on this plugin!  Thank you for all your hard work!

Mike

Under the advanced tab on the Hue hub device, in the Variables sub tab, there is a variable BridgeScenes. I believe the 1st variable after the { for each scene is the scene ID.

Hello guys, my first second post on this forum (I pretty new to the whole zwave/home automation stuff)

I installed this Hue plugin on my VeraEdge, plugins version is 0.92 when I look under App > My Apps, controller is 1.7.1598.

All 'Hue scenes' under the 'Hue Preset list' of the 'Philips Hue Plugin' have duplicates.
Beach, beach, blue rain, blue rain.

When I try to edit one, I get the error "Scene name already used. Please choose another." which is pretty obvious, because all Hue scenes exists twice.

Bug in the plugin? Did I do something wrong? can anyone (help me) fix this?

i could be wrong but I think it has to do with how many apps you have connected to hue, if you have say two android phones with the hue app installed it will list all the scenes each app has configured. I haven not tried deleting them on both devices to see if they go away, but you can give it a shot.

Hello, I thought I'd chime in on this topic - for about two weeks I've been trying to figure out this issue (Duplicate Hue Preset Scenes).  I'd tried everything, including factory resetting both my VeraEdge controller and my Hue bridge.  Nothing worked.  In fact, things seemed to get worse.  Within my (Android) app, I had about six scenes defined - after I had done my factory resets, I had nearly FIFTY scenes in the Hue Preset list.  Many were duplicates, some had four copies, others had six and so forth. I kept removing and adding the Hue Plugin, tried the Hue app, nothing  seemed to affect this, except more scenes kept showing up.  There were even scenes called "HIDDEN".   Before today, I never saw any posts or any information on this forum or the Internet with others having this issue.

FINALLY tonight I made a huge break through and figured out what is going on.  In my case (and likely yours too), it happens that the Hue bridge creates two separate "scene" configurations for each scene you define in your app. Say you create a scene called "Relax". On the Hue bridge the names are assigned random numbers along with the given name.  This turns into two configurations and (to keep it simple) lets say one is named "Relax On" and the other is called "Relax Off".  However, the name Vera imports truncates all but the original name of the scene (Relax), creating two scenes that appear to have the same name.  If you check, you should see one scene turns on the lights (lights checked), and the other turns off those same lights (lights unchecked).

The hue bridge does something else to complicate and confuse things, it never forgets a scene entry, even if you delete it from your app or portal.  If you later recreate a previously deleted scene, using the same name, well, you'll end up with four (or six, or eight and so on) scenes in Vera, all with the same name.

Suffice it to say, this was driving me nuts and you can image how pleased I was to figure out a work around - I hope.  So far, things look pretty good.  The best solution requires some under-the-hood manipulations of the Hue bridge itself. I had to sign up for a Hue Developer account to get access to the commands needed.  I'm not going to go into that detail here, but I'd be happy to discuss off line if anyone else is having this problem and wants to hear how I solved it.

Cheers, Robert

I'm seeing the same thing.  I don't think my Vera goes a full hour without losing contact with either bulbs or the bridge itself.   The instability of the environment is very frustrating.  My current theory is this is indicative of some instability in the zWave environment.  I've been turning my attention to trying to figure out how to diagnose and troubleshoot zwave routing/comm errors.  I plan to start looking into log files tomorrow.  I just came across this link that I believe explains how to access them for review - hopefully, there will be some clues there.  (http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Luup_Debugging)
It sounds like we are seeing many of the same problems; we should keep comparing notes.  RP

Removed plugin and re-added my HB and it installed a older version, so far i can see all my scenes in the drop down for creating vera scenes so thats a improvement over the new one where I had to copy and paste the code for the scenes from the advanced tab. And all my bulbs are showing as connected again. Is there a changelog anywhere so I can see what im missing by using the old version?

Edit: Ended up having to update back the the new one, every scene would turn on all lights no matter how they were configured.

Damn,
I did both firmware upgrade (the one that disabled third party bulbs and the one that enabled them again).
The plugin stopped working so I tryed to uninstall and reinstall but even if it's paired, the plugin stayed at the "off" state and none of my bulbs are recognized.

I guess I will have to wait for the update  :-\

I want to control the lights with one of these. http://www.smarthome.com/cooper-wiring-devices-rf9500aw-aspire-rf-wireless-remote-switch-alpine-white.html (http://www.smarthome.com/cooper-wiring-devices-rf9500aw-aspire-rf-wireless-remote-switch-alpine-white.html) I know you associate with with groups for traditional zwave light dimmers but you cant group the hue bulbs. Is there someway to get it to work with the dimming as well? What i would like is pressing up to run one scene on and off and down to be another.

I don't think you can do this, I may be wrong here, but looking at the specs for this device it seems you need to perform a z-wave association in order to control switches and dimmers and hue is using ZigBee.

Can I turn off the message "can't detect device" for the hue bulbs? Some of my hue lights are usually turned off by a switch and I don't want to see this warning.

Thanks.

Hi

There is "FailedStatusReport" variable in advance settings for bridge device that needs to be set to "0". After this you need to reload the engine.

Hello,

I'm sorry but even after setting "FailedStatusReport" variable to "0" and reload LUUP, the devices continue to show "Can't detect device". Any advice to get rid of this ? Thank you.

Try to set "CommFailure" variable to "0" for failed lamp device and reload the engine. If the failed message is still displayed then I will need to look on your unit.

Hi hellovn,

Do you have this version installed?

Quote
GATEWAY_IP:3480/data_request?id=action&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1&action=CreatePlugin&PluginNum=8162&Version=29816

If so, you will find it in "Advanced/Variables" tab for the bridge device.

Is there a plan to add some sort of wake-up light functionality into this plugin because third-party plugins to do it doesn't work on my setup ?

@cynergiztik

I'm having the duplicate Hue Scene issue.  I've tried using the advanced commands from the Vera side of things in the Hue Hub device.  I edited a few fields, it came back with the only scene I left in the fields and I was oh so happy.  Then, the return....

I would be love to chat about how you got rid of your extra scenes.  I have a number of hue hubs I manage, I'm sure this will come in useful more than once.  Thanks!

Hi nick,

The name for a hue scene(we call them presets to avoid confusion with Vera scenes) looks like this : "Relax on 1452849228055" for the scenes that are automatically created by Philips hue mobile apps. So if you use the Android and iOS apps, it's possible to have two relax scenes created by these apps, something like "Relax on 1452849228055" and "Relax on 1452849221234". We decided to truncate the "on 1452849228055" part only for displaying purposes. That is why duplicate names may appear.

Thanks for the reply.  I totally understand why you guys are showing duplicates (although, I haven't changed my Hue hub and every time i remove and re-add it there are even MORE duplicate "presets") however, one of the users here had an idea of how to get rid of those duplicate scenes.

I went into Hue after seeing the duplicates and removed every mobile device (in actuality All Devices).  I then modified all my scenes on the hue website to remove any duplicates.  Gave it a few hours to sync, then re-added the Philips hue system back into Vera.  Even MORE duplicates.

Would love to hear what someone else is doing.  I wouldn't post it in a Vera thread except it's the only HA controller i use that duplicates up scenes like this.

The plugin does not create duplicate, the "presets" displayed there are all the hue scenes found on the bridge. Other apps don't display all of them, for example the official hue app will not show them. Here is a quote form hue official API for scenes:
Quote
Additionally, bridge scenes should not be confused with the preset scenes stored in the Android and iOS Hue apps. In the apps these scenes are stored internally. Once activated they may then appear as a bridge scene.
I don't know the logic behind this, but we decided to allow you to see exactly what your bridge is reporting.

If you want to check you scenes from the bridge and see if plugin is displaying them based on the rule I previously mentioned, run the following URL in your browser:

Quote
http://_bridge_ip/api/_code_

- _code_ can be found in "username" field from "Advanced/Params" tab for the bridge device

Hi Andrei,

I still notice when in a Vera Scene I change a series of bulbs a color and dim value a command that not all get the entire set.   Some times they will all change color but none change intensity.  Some times 1 or more will not change at all.  Usually running the scene a second time gets them all correct.   In addition,  the scene status in Vera still is never set  true if there is a hue bulb in list.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi hwve,

That is a browser error when parsing the xml returned by the request, but there is also an "OK" there, you should be fine. To be sure that plugin was updated, you can check user_data, "InstalledPlugins2" tag and search for Philip hue plugin. You will find the plugin id and the plugin version that is installed on your gateway( it should be 30212).
Do a browser refresh(ctrl + f5) and you should be able to see the new changes.
Again, if you didn't removed your older plugin version, a new pairing may be required, go to "Configure" tab for more information.

All the Best,

Hello mcv.andrei,

I looked at the installed plugins and indeed there was a Phillips Hue 2 plugin app id1862 version 1.6, that generated a device that needed to be paired.  However I still have the original Phillips Hue plugin version 1.7 app id 3096.  I really don't have any problems with the old version.  Should I delete that before pairing with the new version?  What are the advantages?
Thanks for your quick response and help.

Hi hwve,

Both plugins can work together just fine, there is no problem having both installed on your gateway, so you don't need to delete the old one. You just need to pair this version with your bridge.

I didn't "played" with the 3rd party version so I cannot tell which are the advantages. You can give it a try and get back here and let other users know these information.

I just linked the plugin with the hue bridge.  What a difference with the third party version.
Much nicer, better and easier controls.  Very nice work.  Wish I was able to do this kind of stuff.
I am going to delete the third party plugin.
Thanks for the great work.

Installed the updated plugin, upgraded software on the Hue.

Initially wouldn't connect to the Hue hub, but a Vera reboot took care of that.

Everything still works as expected with no fiddling required. Nice one Andrei.  :)

Hi,
I upgraded the plugin with the mention url after uninstalling but even after rebooting the Vera, it still doesn't work :
my bridge is found, pairing works, but the on/off switch stays on "off" position.
Sometimes I can read "command failed" when I try to turn it on.

My hue bridge software is 01030262, the one released on the 21st of December.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong ?
Thanks.

Hi ComaR,

Please try to perform a clean install, remove the plugin from Apps/My Apps and then use the URL to re-install it. If this doesn't fix your issues, try to set "FailedStatusReport" variable. You will find additional information mentioned earlier in this thread.

Thanks for your answer, I got it working.
I thought it stopped working because of the new firmware in december but it seems the problem comes from my LivingWhites plugs :

I removed them from my bridge and the plugin worked well, I added them again and it stopped.
Is there a way to add support for them ?

Hi Andrei,

Love what you've done so far with the Hue plugin. Been using it since the first version came out trough this forum and it's been working fine for me up until last Monday 25th of January. Since that day my Vera Edge constantly looses connection with the hue hub and lights - "Can't detect device". The lights work without issue via the official Hue Android and iOS-app.

A reload of the LUUP-engine on the Vera fixes the issue temporarily - I then have a connection that lasts a few minutes up to a couple of hours.

I haven't done anything to my system lately (last couple of months) other than upgrading UI7 regularly. I think I was on version 1.7.1598 prior to my Hue-issues and had been for a few weeks. Same thing with the Hue Bridge-version - haven't updated it since I first started using the Hue-plugin so as not to break anything. After I got the issues I've upgraded my Vera to the latest UI7-release 1.7.1707, but that didn't help. After that I tried updating the Hue bridge to the latest version, but that didn't help either. The Philips Hue-pluginversion says App id: 8162 / Current Version: 0.86

Grateful for any help!

Best regards,
Tim

Before I can say for sure, I will need to access you unit and see what is happening when you add these devices but I don't know when time will be allocated on my side for this. You can try to pair the switch and send me the JSON reported by your bridge, use :

I'm running the latest UI7 on a Vera 3 and the latest version of the plugin and Hue firmware.

Yesterday the plugin was unable to connect to the Hue hub either automatically or manual. (I could ping the Hue's IP address and work the lights from the Hue app on my phone though) This AM the plugin is showing connected to the Hue hub and is able to work the lights. I'm not quite sure what happened but am glad to see it fixed itself. ( Visualizing MCV.Andrei mumbling spells over a steaming cauldron as a possible reason ;) )

Connected lights: 2 Hue Blooms and a GE-Link. Getting ready to install a light strip as well.

This is interesting.  Since installing the latest version of the plugin, I notice that at times one of the hue lights will show:  Can't detect device..." .  And than the error diapers and the light is controllable again.  The light is always controllable from the Phillips iPhone app or from the Phillips Hue plugin.  Is this fixable?
For the record, I like this plugin much better than the Phillips one, given that this problem can be fixed.

For situations like this one, you could enable debugging logs for the plugin, look for "DebugMode" variable and set it to "1" and  don't forget the engine reload. Maybe we could find additional details.

Andrei,

The control unit has the FailedStatusReport variable and that was set to zero.  The units themselves do not have this variable and they only show the 'cannot detect device' message.  These message come and go intermittently.  When they exist and a command is send, they only react after one or more sequential commands.  It seems that they units wake up after.  The control unit with the scenes never get the  'cannot detect device' message.  At least not that I have seen.
Hope this helps with your investigation.
Is there a way to trap this  'cannot detect device' message?

Hi all,

There was an issue with the plugin when dealing with luminaires. I attached the L_ file that need to be manually uploaded on the gateway until I will provide a new version that can be installed with request.

@hwve : This variable is only present on the bridge device, there is no need for it on lamp ones. You can try again to set the "FailedStatusReport" variable to ) and reload the engine. After this fo to each lamp device and look for "CommFailure" variable and set it to "0" too. Reload the engine after each variable set to be sure the value is saved. Let me know if this works.

Hi all,

I debug the failed device issues by adding some logs on plugin. At some point this issue started to reproduce on my end. Looking at the logs this :
Code: [Select]
50      02/12/16 13:26:31.135   luup_log:31: (Hue2 Plugin)::(pollHueDevice) : BRIDGE JSON = [{ ....}]
50      02/12/16 13:26:31.220   luup_log:31: (Hue2 Plugin)::(pollHueDevice) : lights.state.reachable[19] = [true] <0x76529520>
50      02/12/16 13:26:31.221   luup_log:31: (Hue2 Plugin)::(pollHueDevice) : lights.state.reachable[18] = [false] <0x76529520>
50      02/12/16 13:26:31.221   luup_log:31: (Hue2 Plugin)::(pollHueDevice) : lights.state.reachable[20] = [true] <0x76529520>

Now let me explain :
BRIDGE JSON - is the JSON reported by the bridge.
lights.state.reachable[X] = [true/false] - is the value found for "reachable" field for hue lamp X

So the bridge is reporting the hue light as unreachable. The plugin is acting as it suppose, set the hue lamp device as failed/OK based on this value. Because the plugin is polling the bridge once every POLLING_RATE seconds(see the value for this variable in advance settings for bridge device), once a device is set as failed, it will checked again after POLLING_RATE seconds. While this interval(between two polls), device will remain failed and no command will be sent. During my debug I analyze this behavior and I can say that the time a hue lamp is set as "unreachable" by the hue bridge is smaller then the 7 seconds because on the next poll the device/s were OK again (at least in my case).
Conclusion :
- plugin is working as it should;
- hue bulbs status is not accurately detected by the hue bridge - seems to be a bug on Hue side;
- there is nothing to fix on plugin side.
- if you want to check and see if the behavior is the same your situation, you can enable debug mode for plugin by setting "DebugMode" variable to "1" and reloading the engine. Looking at LuaUPnP logs you can see the same logs as described above.

In order to avoid this behavior, if FailedStatusReport variable is set to "0", plugin will not report the status for bulbs device(more information about this can be found previously on this thread)
"FailedStatusReport" affect only the bulbs failed status report, the failed status detection for Hue bridge is still activated.

I attached a file that include the above changes. I also include support for Living Whites Plugs( untested ) and a fix for Luminaires (plugin was failing in some cases). You need to upload it on your gateway(Apps/Develop Apps/Luup files) and reload the engine.

A new plugin version will be released when I will receive the confirmation for Living Whites integration.

All the Best,

- Andrei -

Hi all,

You can install the a new plugin version by using the following request :

Code: [Select]
GATEWAY_IP:3480/data_request?id=action&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1&action=CreatePlugin&PluginNum=8162&Version=30398
Change log:

- added support for LivingWhites plugs;
- added icon for "LLC001" - Living Colors Iris bulbs;
- fix an issue for Luminaires devices;
- disabled failed status report for hue bulb devices by default - it will be available only for fresh installs. If you update the plugin and FailedStatusReport variable is set to "1", it will remain like this.

This variable is used internally, it is not related to number of hue bridges. I added support for multiple bridges in "Configuration" tab, you can chose the bridge that you want to pair with plugin. For the second bridge, you will need to create a new plugin instance. I updated the plugin settings on appstore and "Create Another" button will be available soon, after your unit will sync.

Quote
I installed the update, but now the detail pane of the plugin is hung up at "Loading Please Wait...."
I don't want to uninstall and then reinstall because then all new units will be generated and I will be using up more ID numbers in addition to screwing up the Xtension units in my HA application.

There is no need to uninstall the plugin, it was updated. This message is not an issue, there is no official release for this plugin and the UI is not able to get the latest version. That is why "Loading Please Wait...." message is displayed, but is harmless.

All the Best,

Hi Andrei

Thanks for your great work on this plugin. I've got it installed successfully on my Vera Lite, but the plugin seems to choke on one of my Osram Lightify bulbs that has configurable white balance/temperature but isn't RGB.

If I remove that bulb from my Hue then my Vera works great with the Hue.

I've checked the log file but only see this recorded where the plugin is failing;

Code: [Select]
50 02/18/16 16:59:43.217 luup_log:10: (Hue2 Plugin)::(checkInitialStatus) : Philips Hue Connected! <0x2bbfa680>
01 02/18/16 16:59:43.219 LuaInterface::CallFunction_Startup-1 device 10 function PhilipsHueStartup failed [string "module("L_PhilipsHue2", package.seeall)..."]:976: attempt to index field 'xy' (a nil value) <0x2bbfa680>
01 02/18/16 16:59:43.219 LuImplementation::StartLua running startup code for 10 I_PhilipsHue2.xml failed <0x2bbfa680>

Any ideas how I can fix this, as I'd really like to use the bulb with my Vera.

Thanks

Andrew

Hi kes,

There are a lot of devices compatible with hue bridge and we don't have them here at the office. I will need your help to add support for them into plugin. For this, the first thing to do is to send me the JSON reported by the bridge after pairing the unsupported device.  Run the following URL in your browser :

Code: [Select]
http://_bridge_ip/api/_code_- _code_ can be found in "username" field from "Advanced/Params" tab for the bridge device

The next step will be on my side, I will try to add the support "blindly".
After this, the update needs to be test by you or you can give me access to your controller and I can make the tests.
This step may take some time because I will need to get the approval from my upper management and find the time to do it, but sooner or later the new device will be supported :P

So I'm waiting for your email :D

All the Best,

- Andrei -

Hello Andrei, thank you again for your great work on this plugin. I noticed that there are references to commands like RampTime, RampLevel, etc in the plugin for each light. My question is whether there is possibility of a light alarm clock with these commands and if so, how to do that ( LUUP codes, scene editor advanced, etc) because the Wake Up Light existing plugin does not work correctly under UI7? thank you in advance

Is there a way to detect an "unreachable" state ?
I wanted to synch a lightstrip to a bulb :
The bulb is commanded by a regular switch (not a zigbee one).
If the bulb is off, I want the lightstrip to go off.
If the bulb is on, I want the lightstrip to go on.

I created my scenes but I noticed that when I switch the power off on the bulb, it stays "on" in the Vera UI.
On the Philips hue app side, the bulb seems to be "on" also but with an "unreachable" warning.

Any idea if what I want to do is possible or not ?

I am probably missing something... But how do I get the plugin to add new hue devices. I recently added two more lights (White) to the Hue bridge and they work fine there, however I can't get them to show up in the Vera plugin. I have restarted both the Vera and the Hue. I have 5 previous lights working fine with the plugin. What am I missing?

You add the lights through the Hue app for eg your phone. After that, the plugin should see them. Do you have the laters Hue firmware? Does the Hue plugin under 'Configure' tabe show 'connected' link status?

You may want to try and power down the Hue hub and power it back up so the plugin refreshes...

Turned out my Hue plugin hadn't updated to latest version, the only way to update was to uninstall it and install the plugin again. Now everything works! :-)

Hello,

I have a luup to change color
luup.call_action("urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1", "SetHueAndSaturation", {Hue="64879";Saturation="203"}, device)

But now with the last version I see the option "transition time" how I can set a color with a tansition ?

In log I found this and I hope it's possible change
08   02/26/16 20:30:24.373   JobHandler_LuaUPnP::HandleActionRequest argument Transitiontime=50 <0x752df520>

Solved :

luup.call_action("urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1", "SetHueAndSaturation", {Hue="43908";Saturation="220";Transitiontime="75"}, 137)

But what correspond the value ? (Mseconds, Seconds,...)
In the API documentation of Philips he write 400ms, but here the max value is 100.

Thank you

transitiontime value = second (thx my stopwatch)

If you want with luup code you can put more 100 :)

I'm disappointed there isn't a visual color selector for Hue in Scenes.

I just bought a veraplus, upgrading from UI5. The Hue plugin is a downgrade from the UI5 App. I use hue colors to indicate status of alarms (red for smoke, blue for flood sensor). I can't now do that simply in scenes.

Hi dzmiller,

In order to add the color picker in scenes we need to do a refactoring over our scenes creation mechanism in web UI, and as you may know we focus our resources in other essential improvements. That is why we added a way to be able to achieve what you want with the plugin : you can create Hue presets that set the color you want on your hue bulbs. These presets can be used as actions in scenes.

How did you get the Hue Scene to run? I added this action:

Service: urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1 RunHueScene    Scene: Water Alarm

To run the Hue defined scene Water Alarm. I add the text string without quotes.
Nothing happens

I also want to know about setting a Hue scene, i have set some up on my hue bridge that i would like to use.

Under my Vera scene there is the advanced editor where i can add extra actions and one is defined as 'RunHueScene' and then it asks for a string in the adjacent box, its not clear what i need to put in here, do i type the name of the scene as shown on my Hue into this box, eg. 'Bathroom Night' or 'Bathroom Evening'?

The alternative seems to be a colour picker, where can i find the 'code' that defines what the colour is? i cant seem to find this in vera of hue.

Thanks

Well im happy to report that that turning the light status function off has improved the reliability of the app significantly. This does lead to another question which im not sure is app related.

When a motion sensor is triggering a light it comes on, however after it turns off again the sensor is not triggering the light for a period of 3-5 minutes so if you enter a room in that time period the light doesnt come on. Is this down to the motion sensor (Fibaro 3 in 1), my Vera Plus, or my Philips Hue system/bridge? Is there any way to improve this behaviour?

Thank you

Yes, you can use the Smartswitch plugin to handle manually the timeout of the sensors. http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,11246.0.html

Try to reload the engine and refresh your browser after this. Wait for plugin to start and then go to scenes. The new preset should be there.

You have the latest version, 1.12(30398). The best way to see if you have the latest version, while the plugin is still in beta, is to watch this thread. I will add the version too in my posts so it will be clear for now on. I think the plugin will be out of the beta soon, and then there will be no need for you to check this because the auto-update mechanism will handle it.

Hello Andrei,

I've installed the plugin on a VeraPlus and paired my 2nd gen HueBridge with no issues; however, I'd like to run something by you...

I would like to save the currentState values of my Hue bulbs/lamps/strips in scenes (through code using global variables) prior to setting the bulb(s) to a different state (different color, dim level, etc).  For example, when my garage door opens, I set the color of some bulbs to Red, but when the garage closes, the bulbs should return to the state they were prior to the scene running.  I'm able to return them to on/off/dim levels, but not to their original Hue/Saturation/Brightness that was in effect if they were on.  Depending on dayofweek or holiday or manual settings/changes, the bulbs may be on in any color at any time when the garage opens, so using pre-sets doesn't really work 100% of the time.

I'm wondering if there is a way to expose something like currentState.getHue(), currentState.getSaturation() and currentState.getBrightness() in the plugin?  Is there currently any way to get these values?

Thanks in advance,
G

How is the plugin working with the new update? If I create a "scene" in the new version are they showing up in Vera? I know I can't see my old scenes in the new app. And how is the rooms feature working, can we trigger scenes to rooms now instead of just bulbs?  I would like to blow away the setup on my hub and start over since I've accumulated a ton of junk scenes and my bulbs are in a poor order.

Hi

Is it possible to have / create some animations ?

The default hue ones ("Presets") are just different static colours, would like some like the animations on the Fibaro RGBW module. Slow fading of different colours etc.

I am new to Philips Hue as well only had it for a day. Maybe you can create animations / fades in their mobile app or something and have Vera call them.

Thanks

Seems there is a basic colour loop animation and an alert animation built in to the Hue.

I tried this in the Hue CLIP API Debugger tool and it works and it started colour looping, however I am not sure how to create the required JSON url / command to turn on this animation via a Vera scene ? Or if that is even possible.

http://www.developers.meethue.com/documentation/core-concepts

"Some extra fun stuff

We have some extra fun resources supported by the bridge you can play with.

?effect? ? this resource is for dynamic effects and currently only supports two values, but we?ll add more in the future. {"effect":"colorloop"} puts the lights in a color looping mode until it is stopped by sending {"effect":"none"}.

?alert? ? this resource is for temporary effects and more may come in the future. At the moment to make the light do a blink in its current color send {"alert":"select"}"

Reading this thread

http://www.developers.meethue.com/content/how-access-hue-lamp-over-url

It seems you can't just have a single URL to send the command to turn on the colour loop, you have to be able to post or put the command.

"You cannot embed the JSON in the URL, the JSON must be in the HTTP body"

Must be some way to do this from Vera ?

Thanks

Is that a beta version then? How did you install / get that version?

Or is that the other third party hue plugin?

I installed the mios native plug-in via the UI7 add device wizard and searched for philips hue and added it that way, I ended up with version 0.92.

I then tried the installation url on the first post of this thread and that installed version 0.8

All very confusing then..

I use a Hue bridge emulator on my Raspberry Pi, but then I bought a Bridge... so it's not doing much on my network. But it DOES allow you to set custom HTTP calls so make the Echo Control whatever you want.

https://github.com/armzilla/amazon-echo-ha-bridge/releases

I have almost stopped using the Echo, since I had to stop and think about what to say EVERY time, and it didn't feel natural yet.

http://192.168.1.100:3480/data_request?id=action&output_format=json&DeviceNum=23&serviceId=urn:intvelt-com:serviceId:HueColors1&action=SetPreset&Preset=4

http://192.168.1.100:3480/data_request?id=action&output_format=xml&&DeviceNum=23&serviceId=urn:intvelt-com:serviceId:HueColors1&action=SetColorTemperature&newColorTemperature=40

http://192.168.1.100:3480/data_request?id=action&output_format=json&DeviceNum=23&serviceId=urn:intvelt-com:serviceId:HueColors1&action=SetHueSaturation&newHue=40&newSaturation=100

I just get "ERROR: Invalid Service" when running these URL's. I changed the IP to my Vera and the device number to the Hue plugin device number, also tried the device number of the other hue child device.

What are they meant to do ?

The power switch on / off (1 or 0) worked, but I had to use the device ID of the hue child device and not the main plugin device, for it to work.

Code: [Select]
http://192.168.1.100:3480/data_request?id=action&output_format=json&serviceId=urn:upnp-org:serviceId:SwitchPower1&action=SetTarget&newTargetValue=0&DeviceNum=23
Cheers

You ARE changing the IP to your Vera, right? AND changign the DeviceID to the proper device ID? I doubt "Dimming1" service would work properly against a door lock, for example. BTW.. to do this REMOTELY (when not on home network) change the beginning of the URL to

https://fwd4.mios.com/LOGIN_NAME/LOGIN_PASSWORD/VERA_SERAIL_NUMBER/data_request?

ALSO:

Changing the URL after local/remote above to just this: &id=invoke

http://192.168.1.31:3480/data_request?&id=invoke

Show what EVERYTHING is capable of doing on your system and IDs and whatnot. Too cool.

(Not everything is implemented though... at least it tells you IDs and stuff.. it's kinda useful)

Has anyone tried using this plugin with HA Bridge?

Code: [Select]
http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,31920.0.html
It is a Hue emulator that allows integration between Vera, Echo, and Harmony Hub.  I installed 1.12 and it cannot find the emulator even after I specified the IP address.  Since the emulator "looks" like a Hue to Echo and Harmony, I was hoping the plugin would see it too....

Sorry, I have no idea what you mean.  Does the Hug plugin connect to the HA Bridge or not?  If yes, I can't get it to work.  The link you show is a fork of the HA Bridge that I am using, but they behave similarly.

This fork IS WAYYYYY BETTER, that's why I linked it. Just swap out your JAR (Notice my path is custom) and set this one up. You will like this one much better once you figure out the interface. I can send you sample URLs to speed along:

My command line: sudo java -jar -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true /opt/amazon_echo/amazon-echo-bridge-0.2.1.jar --upnp.config.address=192.168.1.77 --logging.level.com.armzilla.ha.upnp=DEBUG --logging.file=ha.log

I also have a cron to rotate logs on my RasPI.

To be clear, your link is to the original dev, not the fork.  The fork is under active development but the original is much less so.  Contrary to you, I find the fork to be much more updated and capable than the original.  But I digress, as have you, twice.  Discussing the HA Bridge without context to the the Hue plug in is, to me, OT.

The salient point is that you have still not answered my original question--have you gotten the Hue plugin to work with the HA Bridge?

PHEW!!! Sorry.. too many quotes I guess. I have been missing your question!!

I am not sure I understand what you are asking, because once you have a HUE bridge.. why would you need the JAR? (I know a very good answer, but you couldn't know that yet if you are asking THIS question.)

I THINK you are asking can you control the lights (color, on/off) with the JAR.

No, all HUE commands MUST be sent to the Controller to be sent to the lights.

The JARs are only a bridge between the ECHO and the VERA/HUE. It emulates a bridge for the Echo, allowing you to talk to your NON-Hue lights. BUT...... Once you HAVE a HUE bridge, you can use it to control HUE lights with the echo also. You can THEN use the HUE to send commands to the VERA with the Echo, including colors scenes.

*yes, I DID link to the wrong FORK, thanks for the correction*

Thank you for your response and the link, Stolid... I'll look into that.

I'm currently trying to use lua/luup code on my VeraPlus, so I was wondering if the Philips Hue plugin by MIOS has a method to retrieve those values similar to how I can read/store/restore on/off/dim states.  I can 'set' bue and saturation, but I can't find how to retrieve the values using the plugin.

Code: [Select]
local LampValues = luup.variable_get("urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1","LampValues",HueBulbId)
Where HueBulbId is the Vera device ID for the hue bulb device.

LampValues will contain the current color specifier, ie: "hue:41942;sat:223" or "ct:153", etc.

Thank you, cybrmage... variable_get does return hue/sat... It's a wonderful thing!

One other question:

Per your example: local LampValues = luup.variable_get("urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1","LampValues",HueBulbId) returns "hue:62913;sat:247" in 'LampValues' (for example)

However, in order to set the bulb to these values, SetHueAndSaturation expects "Hue=nnnnnn;Saturation=nnn"...

Any idea how to pass the values directly stored in LampValues without having to parse the string and format it like SetHueAndSaturation expects it?

Hi!

I am on version 1.16 and as Philips decided to change the API version the plugin broke and I have been waiting for a while now to get it all working again and to re-program all my scenes since all lights are lost and will have new id's when they are added.

Any update if and when the new Hue plugin will be available supporting Hue version 1.13?

Hello, since a short time i've got my Vera 3 working on UI7.
So I finaly could download the 'Mios' Hue app. Since a week I have the latest Hue Firmware.
So that gives me the following specifications:  Vera3 on version 1.7.760. Hue  brigde on version 01033370. And Philips Hue plugin by MiOS version 1.24.

I have a Scene on my Hue thats called "WK-Avond". I would like to start this scene trough a PLEG  Action.
On this moment I can not manage to start this scene this way.

In PLEG under actions, I have selected 'RunHueScene' with the "WK-Avond" (and I even tried the  scene identifier "ac637e2f0-on-0").
The scene will not start.

Is this not possible yet? Or should I take a other option?

I realy would like to know...

Update:
After a good night of sleep I found out I hahave used the wrong Scene Identifier.
I was using the identefier after the scene name. Now I use the identifier before the scene name.

Yeah we really need this issue addressed, because of the scenes never showing up in the drop down when creating scenes it is left to hunting down the scenes through the advanced menu which is a PITA to find the right one. We need the scene identifiers listed next to the scenes in the Hue Preset List tab so we can easily copy them.

Title: Question on Groups
Post by: bangis on July 04, 2016, 09:09:56 am
Apologies if this is quite basic - but I can't seem to retrieve or create groups using the Hue plugin (and kicking myself for not being able to figure out something so simple)

First of all, the Hue app (both old and new) do not even show groups (just scenes). I'm using the Hue Pro app on Android that makes it a lot easier to create and edit groups - which are then uploaded to the bridge (there's a function in the app for that)

However, these don't show up on my Vera Edge, with the plugin installed. Even uninstalling/reinstalling the plugin doesn't work - only still shows lights and not groups

Any help here much appreciated

thanks. I must've misunderstood the original post -

Features :

- lights support;
- groups support;
- scenes support (create, edit, favorite);

After pairing, the plugin will create light and group devices for each light/group found on the bridge.
You can create,save to favorites and edit scenes for "Scene List" tab.

For any issue/suggestion you have, please contact me via email : andrei at mios dot com.

Best Regards,

i was thinking I just didn't know how to properly create groups even with the Hue app, and this wasn't being retrieved by the plugin

In UI5 i was able to create scenes with the Hue bulbs that included color. Ie all lights red. all lights blue. all lights off. Im running UI7 with the beta version of the Hue plugin. I can create Hue presets that will work to change the light colors but I cant figure out how to include those presets in other scenes. I have an Evolve LCD1 switch panel which i can control scenes in vera including turning the hue lights on and off. However when they are turned on it ignores the hue preset and the lights come on with whatever they were last set to. The scene consists of 5 bulbs listed as on and the hue bridge with the preset i want to use listed. I feel I'm missing a step in order to get the hue preset to work with my scenes.

Thanks,

Yep, something happened with the new version that it cant find GE bulbs anymore. @mcv.andrei please address this.

Do you know of any other plug-in/way to get the GE Link bulbs to work while they are working on a fix for the issue?

I recently starting using an echo which works with hue, been working out well.

Also I have been setting scenes on hue and then triggering the scene on the Vera when I need the automating. So I guess you can create scenes for each bulb on the hue and trigger them? It's sure a PITA though.

Yeah, I have a bunch of echos too where I use the HA Bridge built by Crush to trigger scenes and lights, but I want my GE lights to trigger based on events rather than voice.  Ugh!  I'm regretting going from Vera Lite to Vera Plus instead of Smart Things!

Hi all I was wondering if it possible to get current light state of a hue light and then turn the light to red for a few seconds and after that back to previous state.

What I have right now is the following:
local lightLevel = luup.variable_get("urn:upnp-org:serviceId:Dimming1", "LoadLevelStatus", 070)
luup.call_action("urn:upnp-org:serviceId:Dimming1", "SetLoadLevelTarget", {newLoadlevelTarget = "10"}, 070)
luup.sleep(4000)
luup.call_action("urn:upnp-org:serviceId:Dimming1", "SetLoadLevelTarget", {newLoadlevelTarget = lightlLevel}, 070)

this only dims the light and puts it back to previous state after 4 seconds. Does anyone know another way to do is (get hue, saturation)?

Hi all,

You can install the a new plugin version(1.28) by using the following request :

Code: [Select]

GATEWAY_IP:3480/data_request?id=action&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1&action=CreatePlugin&PluginNum=8162&Version=31760

Change log since v1.24:

- bug fix for Color temperature lights;
- bug fix for Hue Presets;
- bug fix for Cree bulbs;
- bug fix for LWB001 bulb model;
- added support for "dresden elektronik" bulbs
- support for dynamic triggers - bridge triggers - NOTE : 7.15 firmware version is required;

NOTE : this version should be compatible with bridge fw version 1.13. If you have any issue, do not hesitate to contact me.

All the Best,

- Andrei -

Going on 3 months with no control or work-around for GE Link lights.  I would have more patience if the plug-in was written by a 3rd party, but this is from VERA!  Just unacceptable.   >:(

Hi, does anyone know how to 'turn off' a Hue Scene?

The Hue app (IOS) allows to turn scenes on/off.  I'm able to Run a Hue scene using vera lua code, but I can't find how you turn off such scene other than turning off each device individually.  I thought of creating an 'off' scene where all lights in a given room are off.  Unfortunately, the Hue App (IOS) requires at least one light in a group to be 'on' in order to save a scene so I can't create an 'off' scene this way.

How do you do the opposite of a RunHueScene command using the Hue plugin?

Ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Hello I have the v2 of the plugin, the new Hue Hub and a Vera Lite with UI7 (firmware 1.7.855): everything works properly, anyway every X hours the plugin changes the IP address of the Hue Hub and the Vera fails to detect it ("Connection with the Bridge could not be established! Check IP or the wired connection!")
I've assigned a static IP address to Hue but every time I need to access the device and manually change the IP address.
Anyone with the same problem?

Currently the plugin doesn't support the motion sensors or the dimmers. I have several of both and these can only control lights on the hue bridge via hue capable apps.

Can you guys switch scenes in the hue from automation(scene) in vera? At the dashboard I can get the hue to set a scene but it wont do anything if its sent from a vera-scene.

Basicly works perfect until I automate it, so its not working at all.

Apparently this isn't working with the latest hue firmware for some reason.

I coded this myself (actually borrowed the code from somewhere), as it's all I really need vera to do with the hue lights.  You need 1) an hue developer API Key and 2) the hue scene ID name of your hue scenes.  Add the API key and your hue local IP address to the code below and put in your startup code:

Code: [Select]
function call_hue_scene(sceneName)
local groupNum = "0"
local postdata = '{"scene" : "'..sceneName..'"}'
hue_group_action(groupNum, postdata)
end

function hue_group_action(groupNumber, postdata)
-- loads the HTTP module and any libraries it requires
local http = require("socket.http")
local ltn12 = require("ltn12")
------------------------
local ipAddress = "192.168.YOUR_HUE_IP_ADDRESS_HERE"
local apiKey = "YOUR_HUE_API_KEY_HERE"
-----------------------------
local url_string = "http://" .. ipAddress .. "/api/" .. apiKey .. "/groups/" .. groupNumber .. "/action"
luup.log("hue Group Number: " .. groupNumber)
luup.log("Action postdata:  " .. postdata)
local len = string.len(postdata)
local bodyparts = { }
local x, status, headers = http.request {
method = "PUT",
url = url_string,
headers = {["content-length"] = len},
source = ltn12.source.string(postdata),
sink = ltn12.sink.table(bodyparts)
}
local body = table.concat(bodyparts)
luup.log("call_hue_scene result:" .. x)
return body
end

Then just use code similar to below ( you have to add your scene id ) in the "LUUP Code" section of the scene:

Code: [Select]
local hue_livingRoomRead = "S8XsomecodewdPnsP"  --This is the hue scene ID number, you can use the local hue API debug to get the json with this info

call_hue_scene(hue_livingRoomRead)

Maybe not the best way, but it works for me.  And I can ditch the hue plugin.

(You can also use the hue_group_action function to call any other hue api command, I use it for sunrise alarms)

This seems to be a working work around, thanks alot! I just don't know how to implement it correctly. I'm new to vera and not a programmer.

I do have the PLEG and saw you can send the command SetHueScene as an action (thru the huelugin). Is there anything I can put in there to set the scene? I tried with just the name of the scene but no luck.
Maybe you need to know that ID, is there an app or tool to get those easily?

 I mean the plugin CAN set the scene when using the Buttons in dashboard so idk.
Title: Re: Philips Hue plugin by MiOS (BETA)
Post by: Maskfaen on October 21, 2016, 06:29:37 pm
I can now answere my own question. Yes you can set your HUE-scenes via PLEG. You just need to get the scene-id wich looks something like "TWX65Lin-7mhIoh" even that it is named "Night light".

As action in PLEG add the philips hue plugin, then use the SetHueScene and put in your ID.

You need to get the API-key (create a username in your HUE-bridge) and then get the information within it.

I started with this:

Alright, I have a veralite with fresh upgrade to UI7. I am currently using v1.7 of the old hue plugin and it works fine but I have recently started adding amazon alexa/echo based products to my system and want to be able to change the lights to different colours by voice through alexa; "Alexa, turn on outside lights blue," for example.

Have a few questions for the community:

1. What is the best way to implement these different coloured scenes?

2. Should I upgrade to this beta version (hue 2) of the app since it is (maybe) still supported and works on UI7?

3. Ideally, I would like to create the coloured scenes on my vera. Will I have to create them on the android app first?
(I don't really use the official Hue android app to set scenes)

Hi Emiel,

Thank your for the patch! I created a new version using your changes. Sadly I am not able to test if it's working since I'm lacking the hardware needed. If anyone wants to try it out you can get the latest version by using the following url:
Code: [Select]
http://vera_ip_address:3480/data_request?id=action&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1&action=CreatePlugin&PluginNum=8162&Version=32556

Replace vera_ip_address with your vera's IP address. Let me know if it works properly and I can update the official plugin with this changes for the regular installation procedure. Don't forget to thank Emiel for his submission :)

Thanks that works, I can now run Hue scenes from a Vera scene !  ;D

luup.call_action("urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1", "SetHueAndSaturation", {Hue="64879";Saturation="253"}, dev_id)

Helllo,

just a small question can I have a luup example for set color (LampValues) ?

THx

Hi

I just tried this:

Code: [Select]
luup.call_action("urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1", "SetHueAndSaturation", {Hue="64879";Saturation="253"}, 151)

in a Vera scene in the Luup code section of the scene.

If the Hue light is already turned on and I run the scene it works OK and changes the colour to red. However if the Hue light is turned off and I then run the scene nothing happens, so I guess the Hue light must be turned on first.

EDIT: Adding newLoadlevelTarget = 100 into the scene also and now the Hue light turns on from off and brightens to 100% when I run this scene.

Also if I run this command in a web browser, it also works and even when the Hue light was turned off to begin with:

Code: [Select]
http://192.168.1.100:3480/data_request?id=lu_action&DeviceNum=151&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1&action=SetHueAndSaturation&Hue=64879&Saturation=253
And how do you work out / convert for the hue and saturation numbers ?

For example if I wanted to turn the Hue light green which is colour hex code #00FF00

Thanks

Also I can't get the Hue to change colour at all when using the advanced editor in the Vera scene instead of using the lua code.

See attached screen shot.

Thanks

I'm having the same issue as a few others where trying to activate a hue scene from a vera scene is not working. Looking at the LuaUPnP.log I see the following error when it's executing my vera scene:

Code: [Select]
08 01/04/17 2:48:11.488 JobHandler_LuaUPnP::HandleActionRequest device: 23 service: urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1 action: [[36;1mRunHueScene[[0m <0x753de520>
08 01/04/17 2:48:11.489 JobHandler_LuaUPnP::HandleActionRequest argument Scene=Watch TV <0x753de520>
50 01/04/17 2:48:11.491 luup_log:23: (Hue2 Plugin)::(runHueScene) : Running scene Watch TV <0x7740c000>
50 01/04/17 2:48:11.499 luup_log:23: (Hue2 Plugin)::(runHueScene) : Running Scene ERROR occurred : 7 with description : invalid value, Watch TV, for parameter, scene <0x7740c000>
50 01/04/17 2:48:11.500 luup_log:23: (Hue2 Plugin)::(runHueScene) : Please check error/s above! <0x7740c000>

This seems to suggest there is a bug somewhere that the Lua code is expecting something other than the string "Watch TV" as the parameter to runHueScene. It seems like the runHueScene is expecting the Hue Scene ID rather than the Hue Scene name. But it seems like the scene list provided and the selection that is saved during the creation of Vera Scenes is the Hue Scene name.

I've verified this to be true using the Javascript console in my browser and the "Hue Presets List" in the bridge device. The id passed to the runHueScene function when you click on a Hue Scene in that list is not the Hue Scene Name, but rather the ID.

Is this bug being worked on? Or, already patched in an unreleased dev version? If not, I might be able to work up a patch in a few days to fix it.

I apologize if this has already been solved. I just started using the plugin for hue with Vera 3, I have an issue where the Hue will connect for a short time(< 2 minutes) and then lose connection and not connect again for a significant amount of time.  I haven't been able to stay connected long enough to test the lamps via Vera.

Any help is much appreciated.

I have a VeraPlus on order and will use the built in support for Hue Bulbs if that's the best option.

tl;dr;  Vera Scenes not setting Hue Scenes is a bug in the Vera firmware. There is a workaround at the bottom of this post.

Looking into the Vera scene error I ran into I think this is a bug in the Vera UI itself rather than the plugin.

From what I can determine the Vera Scene UI is saving the Hue Scene name rather than the Hue Scene ID.

I found this by using the following URL on my vera to see the json for the scene in question.
Code: [Select]
http://192.168.1.167:3480/data_request?id=scene&action=list&scene=18
Code: [Select]
{ "name": "Watch Movie", "room": "1", "triggers_operator": "OR", "groups": [ { "delay": 0, "actions": [
{ "device": "3", "service": "urn:upnp-org:serviceId:Dimming1", "action": "SetLoadLevelTarget", "arguments": [ { "name": "newLoadlevelTarget", "value": "30" } ] },
{ "device": "4", "service": "urn:upnp-org:serviceId:Dimming1", "action": "SetLoadLevelTarget", "arguments": [ { "name": "newLoadlevelTarget", "value": "30" } ] },
{ "device": "23", "service": "urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1", "action": "RunHueScene", "arguments": [ { "name": "Scene", "value": "Watch TV" } ] }
 ] } ], "triggers": [ ], "timers": [ ], "users": "", "modeStatus": "0", "id": 18, "Timestamp": 1483516064, "last_run": 1483770713 }

I also looked and the Vera Scene UI knows the Hue Scene ID as the HTML on the Vera Scene editor page has the Hue Scene ID as the value field for each entry in the drop down.
Code: [Select]
<select data-argument_value="true">
  <option value="2rgsVmkbA3wNOrM">Energize</option>
  <option value="Omew0nIdLfA5GDu">Dimmed</option>
  <option value="wkMMHneuBZkiRU6">Bright</option>
  <option value="8IvYNbfZpSInhQm">Spring blossom</option>
  <option value="wyh64A5JsCrsefd">Tropical twilight</option>
  <option value="Rq14MRk9FpbcSzW">Watch TV</option>
  <option value="5uE8jzPjm588xYD">Relax</option>
  <option value="4KK0GMItbMyHv23">Arctic aurora</option>
  <option value="LtzZiAhjmLV9cGE">Nightlight</option>
  <option value="aPnDyflFCmgJRrH">Read</option>
  <option value="9u5kp-WUC3H9Fs9">Savanna sunset</option>
  <option value="nh4jQckg3kmy2Wi">Concentrate</option>
</select>

And if I manually edit the HTML to put the HUE Scene ID in to Name portion of the option tag it saves correctly and the scene works as expected.

Code: [Select]
<option value="Rq14MRk9FpbcSzW">Rq14MRk9FpbcSzW</option>
Code: [Select]
{ "name": "Watch Movie", "room": "1", "triggers_operator": "OR", "groups": [ { "delay": 0, "actions": [
{ "device": "3", "service": "urn:upnp-org:serviceId:Dimming1", "action": "SetLoadLevelTarget", "arguments": [ { "name": "newLoadlevelTarget", "value": "30" } ] },
{ "device": "4", "service": "urn:upnp-org:serviceId:Dimming1", "action": "SetLoadLevelTarget", "arguments": [ { "name": "newLoadlevelTarget", "value": "30" } ] },
{ "device": "23", "service": "urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1", "action": "RunHueScene", "arguments": [ { "name": "Scene", "value": "Rq14MRk9FpbcSzW" } ] }
 ] } ], "triggers": [ ], "timers": [ ], "users": "", "modeStatus": "0", "id": 18, "last_run": 1483770713, "Timestamp": 1483772665 }

So after 2-3 hours of tracing through the javascript code I found the line with the bug. It is in the interface.js file.

Code: [Select]
Interface.prototype.addSceneListedActionToActionGroup
...
if ("urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1" == act.service) {
                for (var i = 0; i < $argValue[0].length; i++)
                    sceneNameArg[i] = $argValue[0][i].text,
                    sceneValueArg[i] = $argValue[0][i].value,
                    $argValue[0].value == $argValue[0][i].value && (pass = sceneNameArg[i]);
                var arg = {
                    name: $arg.prop("argumentName"),
                    value: pass
                }

Simply changing:
Code: [Select]
                    $argValue[0].value == $argValue[0][i].value && (pass = sceneNameArg[i]);

to

Code: [Select]
                    $argValue[0].value == $argValue[0][i].value && (pass = sceneValueArg[i]);

fixes the issue.

So what is the best way to report this bug to Vera as it will require a new firmware to permanently fix?

As a workaround you can do the following:
Code: [Select]
(localhost) $ ssh root@<ip of vera>

(vera) # rm /www/cmh/js/interface.js
(vera) # cp /mios/www/cmh/js/interface.js /www/cmh/js/interface.js

You then need to open the interface.js file in vi and search for "pass=scene".
Change sceneNameArg to sceneValueArg.
Save, quit and reload the UI in your browser.
Go edit or create a Vera scene that includes a Hue Scene in it and tell it which Hue scene you'd like to use.
Save the Vera Scene and test it out.

I received an email today from a user regarding this thread and Hue integration.

I just wanted to make sure the the community is aware that we have been working on integrating Hue into the Vera platform. I don't have a specific eta to share but we have been working on it for some time now.

Hi everyone,

Me and the other lovelies in the Connected Objects team are wrapping up a new release for the Philips Hue plugin which, technically speaking, solves all the issues you guys have mentioned. It's still under review by our QA team but I can leave you guys with a link to a BETA version that you can check. Note that when the full release occurs you'll have to re-install the plugin again if you want further updates. Copy and paste the link bellow in your browser and remember to replace vera_ip with the actual IP of your unit:

Code: [Select]
http://vera_ip:3480/data_request?id=action&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1&action=CreatePlugin&PluginNum=8162&Version=33170

By my beard I wish all of you good luck! Let me know if any more issues appear so I can pummel them until they surrender.

Thanks,
Your friendly neighboor bearded developer.

Hello oh bearded developer god. (& Marc too)

So, bad news.
The beta is unstable when it works, it's a mess.

1. 3rd party bulbs, which show up in the hue app, and other HA products, do not show up in this beta.
2. Imported Hue scenes are a mess. It still show all HUE scenes from all users, which means you see every scene many times, depending on how many people have attached with the Hue app. I'd like to only see the the scenes by user or better yet only those that are associated with MiOS.

Are you aware of the Hue API change about a year ago? I think that is the root of the problem.
This beta still seems to be using the old API.

SIGH!

It also loses its connection to the bridge according to the app settings but the lights still work

I'm having trouble with my hue plugin losing its connection, then it readds all the hue lights with new device ID's which breaks all the scenes.

I tried reinstalling and using the link that ciprian provided but to no avail.

It has been running smoothly since i first installed it and nothing was changed prior to the error occuring. Anyone knows whats going on?  ???

The Hue 2 plugin is so unreliable it's crazy.  Every 3-4 days I have to go in and force a reload of Luup so that the plugin will re-initialize as it decides it's going to lock up and not respond to any requests, then I sit there burning electricity on my outdoor bulbs during the day and stumbling around in the dark when I get home late at night.  Even if they do work they randomly turn on at 1% dimming when the scene says to turn on at 100%, so I come home and the lights are on so dim they're useless.

It's extremely frustrating and buggy, and every time Philips updates the bridge with a new firmware it gets worse, yet there's been no updates to the plugin in a year.  Please fix this.

I'm rolling up a new Beta release for the Philips Hue plugin! By the powers invoked in me by my beard the following issues have been fixed:

And quite a few more minor bugs like language token duplication. As with the previous beta, you need to manually access the following link in order to update to it. The plugin will not auto-update itself as it's not a full release.

Thanks,
Your friendly neighborhood bearded developer.

Hi,

N00b questions.... how do I read the values (color, brightness etc.) from a HUE device and then use Luup code when running a scene?

I would like to avoid using simple scenes in UI7 as they don't allow me to set the color of a bulb.

My problem is getting the values correct. Many have posted about using the "local LampValues" to read hue and saturation. How do I see the output of this function?

Thank you.

Hi there again.

I installed the plug in (1.50), got the error but at the end, the ok statement. I went to VERA and the plugin was there. I chose one of my fixed hue ip address and got the hue plugin starting. I tried to pair, pushed the bridge button, reseted vera and the bridge, pull my hair off and even shaved my beard, so there is no competition... Nothing.
Stuck with "Hue2 Plugin : Starting up..."

PS: I probably am using the latest firmware version... So, will there be an update for this new fw?

I understood the 1.50 is a beta release. When will be the final version released?
Will it support HUE compatible products (e.g. from INNR) as well.
I added some extra code in in the lua file of thee 1.28 release in order to run my INNR bulb and the OSRAM Garden Spots. I don't want to loose my INNR buld when I update to 1.50

Hi ALcALoIDe,

Did you remove the previous device after updating? Sorry to hear about your beard, no one should ever have to do that! Remove the plugin in its entirety from your Vera unit and then just install the new 1.50 version. Let me know how that goes for you.

I figured out how to run Hue scenes in Vera scenes either by a JSON HTTP command URL such as:

Code: [Select]
http://192.168.1.100/port_3480/data_request?id=lu_action&output_format=json&DeviceNum=50&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1&action=RunHueScene&Scene=eXm1eqLVdLeVR-6
Where the IP address is your Vera the Device number is that of the Philips Hue plugin device and the Hue scene number can be found by opening the Hue plugin device in Vera on the first tab "Configure" scroll right down the page and then select "Advanced" and then go to "Variables" tab.

In here under "BridgeScenes" you can find the ID's for your Hue scenes etc.

The above URL command for me starts the ColorLoop function on the Hue Bridge.

Or alternatively in the Advanced editor of your Vera scene you can use the "RunHueScene" function and enter the scenes ID number, as you can see in the screen shot.

Now my question is: how do you create other dynamic scenes / animations presets ?

Like on the Fibaro RGBW controller module they have Storm, Fireplace, Rainbow, LAPD and a few other animations.

Hello

I seem to have broken the color loop scene it no longer works.  :(

I edited the color loop scene in the plug-ins preset list to add a second hue light.

When I did this the new second light did not color loop but the first original light was still color looping.

I then edited the scene again to remove the second light and saved.

Now when I run the scene the original first light does not color loop.

Help can I fix this some how ?

I have a gen 1 Philips Hue bridge.

Thanks.

I tried creating a new color loop scene in the plugin however as you can see in the attached screen shot I no longer have the effect / color loop option.

However if you look at this guys screen shot here (http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=33088.0;attach=30451;image) he did have that option.

Plug-in is now showing as version 1.37 and it titled "Philips Hue 2"

It seems the Effect option has been removed from the plugin again? And this is why it broke my existing color loop scene when I tried to edit it.

I have contacted Vera support but unsure if they made this plugin or a 3rd party developer?

Thanks

Now that IKEA has updated Tradfri, I have connected Tradfri bulbs to the Hue gateway and it is all working fine. However these bulbs do not show up in Vera.
Will this always be the case or is this something that can be done at the plugin end?

Update:
They are listed in the Variables section
BridgeLights: 1,Bedroom main light;2,Kitchen table light;16,Ikea 4;17,Ikea 5;18,Ikea 6;19,Ikea 7;20,Ikea 8;13,Ikea 2;15,Ikea 3

Thanks

In the mean time does anyone know how to start the color loop effect from a Vera scene in the advanced editor and by using LUA code ?

Thanks

To answer my own question with a little help, I have managed to start the Color Loop effect using a luup.call_action.

See this post here (http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,50496.msg328357.html#msg328357).

Hopefully the plug-in developer can fix the missing Effects option as I highlighted to be the issue.

Interesting I was looking at the Ikea Tradfri bulbs online the other day and wondering about them.

So do you need the Tradfri Hub as well? Or have they just linked directly with the Philips Hue hub ?

I was digging a little bit deeper into the lua-code of the HUE plugin. The code asks for the manufacturer and for the specific type of the bulbs. As long the code won't be changed in the plugin, the IKEA bulbs won't show up.

@cw-kid Atm you need the Tradfri hub (and a controller to add bulbs) in order to update the firmware of the bulbs. At least for now untill new stock has the updated firmware already installed.
Also I might add the firmware does not make the bulbs HomeKit enabled, they do not show up there either, but Ikea says this will come in the fall with another firmware update.

Does the new Hue plugin support Hue motion sensors?

I ask because I think the Hue motion sensor is a potential game changer.  I tried every motion sensor I can find.  Some work poorly, some eat batteries, none are what I would call "ready for prime time".

In parallel with my current choice, the 4-in-one Aeotec motion sensors, are my Hue motion sensors.

The Aeotec 4-in-1s turn on what the Hue motion sensors cannot; that is fans for the most part.  I walk into the room and the lights come on just as designed.  The fans are not quite as responsive.

The battery life on the Hue motion sensors appears to be really, really good.  It might be polling, or superior design, but *I think* they have potential, and I'm dying to try them out on things other than Hue bulbs/strips/blooms.

Have to say this plugin (current stable 1.28) could do with a full rewrite as it's showing its age now .... coding "evolution" is probably the best way to describe it  ;D

Maybe this is already being handled internally @ Vera as I've not looked at any later beta?

Anyway, I patched 1.28 to add support for Innr devices BY 165, RS 125, RB 185 C and ST 110.  It should work with others too but I've not got any others to test with.

No support, use at your own risk etc, but works well enough for me both from the web UI and from Scenes ;D

I've finally figured out how to pick the HEX colors I want to work on the Hue Lights.

The Philips Hue plugin either in the Scenes Advanced editor or using a JSON http command seems to want the values of "hue" and "saturation". My problem was I couldn't figure out how to get a required hue value ranging in between (0 to 65535) from my original hex color code?

This comment I found on a forum pointed me in the right direction:

"First you have to convert the RGB value to TSL value, there is a lot of conversions functions in many languages. Then you send the TSL values to your lights with the attributes "hue", "sat" and "bri".

Note 1 : Some languages returns an angle for the hue value (0 - 360), you'll have to convert it in a uint16 value (0 to 65535). Just multiply by 182.

Note 2 : Some languages returns saturation and brigthness value as a percentage (0 - 100), you'll have to convert it in a uint8 value (0 - 254). Just multiply by 2.54"

TSL seems to be the same as HSL

Some examples:

RED

HEX Value = #FF0000
HSL Value = (0, 100%, 50%)

To calculate the Hue value to be in the range of (0 to 65535)

0 x 182 = 182

GREEN

HEX Value = #00FF00
HSL Value = (120, 100%, 50%)

To calculate the Hue value to be in the range of (0 to 65535)

120 x 182 = 21840

BLUE

HEX Value = #0000FF
HSL Value = (240, 100%, 50%)

To calculate the Hue value to be in the range of (0 to 65535)

240 x 182 = 43680

ORANGE

HEX Value = #FFA500
HSL Value = (38.8, 100%, 50%)

To calculate the Hue value to be in the range of (0 to 65535)

38 x 182 = 6916

PINK

HEX Value = #FF1493
HSL Value = (327.6, 100%, 53.9%)

To calculate the Hue value to be in the range of (0 to 65535)

327 x 182 = 59514

PURPLE

HEX Value = #800080
HSL Value = (300, 100%, 25.1%)

To calculate the Hue value to be in the range of (0 to 65535)

300 x 182 = 54600

YELLOW

HEX Value = #FFFF00
HSL Value = (60, 100%, 50%)

To calculate the Hue value to be in the range of (0 to 65535)

60 x 182 = 10920

Initially I used this website here (http://colorizer.org/) to convert HEX to HSL for the primary colors.

But now I can use a colour picker to get the HEX code or in fact just get the HSL numbers and times the HSL Hue number by 182 and use that number in my Vera scenes or LUA code and that is the colour that is then displayed on the Hue light(s).

I then used this website here (http://htmlcolorcodes.com/) and the color picker on there.

Pick any color you want, make a note of the HSL hue value and times it by 182, to give you the hue number ranging from 0 to 65535 which can then be used in Vera.

To get that Turquoise blue color in the attached screen shot it was: h = 172 x 182 gave me a number of 31304

Put that in a URL to test and the light changes to that color !

Code: [Select]
http://192.168.1.100:3480/data_request?id=lu_action&DeviceNum=193&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:PhilipsHue1&action=SetHueAndSaturation&Hue=31304&Saturation=254
The device number "193" is the device ID number of my Philips Hue light strip in Vera, I wanted to control. The Saturation value I just left as "254" each time. Perhaps I also need to be changing the saturation value as well? by timing the HSL saturation percentage value by 2.54.

The main reason I wanted to do this was to try and match up the Fibaro RGBW controller which uses HEX color codes in Vera and the Philips Hue Light to be the same color initiated from a Vera scene etc. I am yet to test that though, but assume it will work and they will be the same color hopefully. But still being able to specify exact colors with hue value numbers, in your Vera scenes for a Philips Hue light is something I have never been able to do before.

So I just created my first new Vera scene called "Hue Blue"

I added two "Philips Hue" lights in to the scene, my TV LED backlights and some LED cabinet lights.

Actually the TV backlights are regular SMD 5050 RGB LED strip connected to a Dresden FLS-PP IP ballast. This makes them Zigbee Light Link / Philips Hue compatible etc.

The second light I added to the scene is an actual Philips Hue gen1 2m LED light strip, that is behind the cabinet below the wall mounted TV.

I also had to enter a value in to the Transitiontime field or the scene wouldn't work. See attached screen shot.

When I run this scene both LED strip lights turn blue. However they are not the same color blue, the Dresden linked ones look correct and are just BLUE the Philips gen1 LED strip however is a lighter shade of blue.

So this isn't so good if different lights are still going to be slightly different colors.  :(

EDIT: Created a second scene for RED and that works both LED light strips look the same shade of red.

EDIT2: Added a scene for GREEN and the Philips Hue gen1 LED strip is a lighter shade of green than the other Dresden linked LEDs.

OK I have the three primary colors matching up on both LED strips now.

To do this I used the Color Wheel in the Imperihome app and manually adjusted the Philips Hue gen1 LED strip until by eye it matched the color shade of the other Dresden linked LED strip.

I then used the Philips Hue API Clip Debug page to GET the current hue value of the gen1 LED strip. I then adjusted my Vera scenes and entered the new hue value in for the gen1 strip light.

Now when I run the Red/Green/Blue scenes the two different LED strips look to be the same color etc.

I think if both the lights were exactly the same type i.e. if I had 2x gen1 LED strips then the colors would have been the same right away with out issue.

But it seems different types of lights might need some slight adjustment to look the same shade of color to the eye etc.

As an example of the difference in the hue numbers for a "matching" blue shade.

Dresden linked 5050 SMD RGB LED strip: Hue = 43680 Saturation = 254
Philips Hue gen1 LED strip:                     Hue =  47104 Saturation = 254

Massively disappointed, finding control of hue light strips via the plugin very unreliable. Sometimes the strip will come on other times it doesn't. I never had this problem with the hue plugin in Domoticz.

Even the "All off" lights command in Vera, sometimes the strips don't turn off.

Developer needs to look at this asap.

I'm lost and probably late to the party. I've had Veraedge for several years using a combo of Z-wave and Arduino Mysensors without much issue. Over Christmas I got an Alexa and integrated it no problem. Feeling confident, I bought a Philips Hue Ambiance kit this weekend and what a disaster. It paired no problem, I could execute Hue scenes from within the plug-in, but when I tried to integrate it into my existing Vera scenes my whole system stopped working. I rely heavily on luup code in all my scenes. Nothing fancy mostly conditional executions, but more specifically basic code I've been running for years. I tried to replace some z-wave dimmers and lights with Hue scenes that I created on my phone. I initially attached each Hue scene to a Vera scene and planned on executing those scenes from within my existing scenes. Again nothing fancy, a motion sensor trips a scene and lights are set based on time of day and light sensor values. Where the code called for certain lights at specific levels, I created Philip Hue scenes that did the same thing and embedded it into a Vera scene that I could execute using luup.call_action("urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1","RunScene",{ SceneNum="1"}, 0) in it's place.

The Hue/Vera scenes executed as expected when tripped manually, but when I inserted the above code into my existing scenes they completely stopped working. My LuaPnP was all errors and my luup code was in the log in all red (wished I saved a sample) saying cannot run lua code, expected then after if, expected end, even plus symbols were replaced with %F. It wasn't just the code from the scene I altered, it was code from others scenes I hadn't touched. The dashboard worked but all scenes stopped. When I removed my changes the errors didn't stop and all my scenes continued not working. It only came back with a restored back-up. I even tried it again using http commands to execute Hue scenes directly, but the same thing happened! (and yes factory reset starting code from scratch)

So is this just me? I am not using Hue Color bulbs, just the White Ambiance bulbs. Is this specific to Hue Ambiance lights? Am I missing something? How have others integrated Philip lights into scenes?

Not sure I can help you. I found out after the fact that Hue color lights default to a color and can't be changed. I wanted energize hue scene to set my color lights and my light bulbs are in lamps that already have a z-wave controlled socket. In retrospect I didn't realize how this wouldn't ultimately be the best solution but whatever.

I do not use the scenes in Vera but instead decided to tell Alexa to change to energize scene for Hue which links via IFTTT.

In your case, when I was using a minimote with code from my VL and upgraded to a VP I found it didn't work. My opinion is lua code changed in small manners that might need to be figured out to proceed. However using the Hue versus a native z-wave device might be different. I have had a similar experience with lua code that caused the behavior you describe and had a small nightmare fixing it.

Did you try "test lua code" first to see if that executes successfully? I saw you removed plus symbols and replaced with %F, I do recall some characters caused this issue a while back and I thought that issue was already fixed a few releases ago.

I wonder if the Alexa app's scene control might work better by chance than Vera for what you want to do. It's worth a shot while trying to figure this one out.

Why Vera does not work on a working Hue plugin ? How comes that also Google Home is not supported ? To bad to see a great device not being supported as it should be

HUE updated plugin has made it to code freeze and scheduled for 7.26(next firmware).

Google Home is still on our table but a lot of work to be done. Some closed beta will be announced shortly.

Hi Sorin M.

How is it possible that again a firmware update breaks very widely used plugins ?  And in this case it is a plugin made by Vera !!
What does "code freeze" exactly mean??
I am a Vera user for over 4 years now. Most of this period very happy, but past months I really faced a lot of problems.
When are you going to solve this one with the Hue plugin ?
When can we expect next firmware 7.26 ? Or can hou adapt the plugin ?

I am running v1.28 of the Hue2 plugin on 7.0.25 on a plus and have been troubleshooting the last causes of unintended luup reloads on the vera.
I have 2 vera units: One Vera Plus and one Vera Edge running along with Openluup.
I have been moving my automations and apps from the vera plus to Openluup and the Vera Edge keeping the Vera Plus essantially as a Zwave and Zigbee bridge with only very few scenes and plugins.
I already setup the vera plus NTP to be local. The Vera Plus is still by far the unit which reboots the most often and I have been looking for the culprit.

One observation is that when my DNS server goes down, even if the gateway is up, the Vera Plus instantaneously does a Luup reload while the Vera Edge does not so it is not intrinsic to the firmware causing the reload.

The Vera Plus has:
the MCV Philips Hue plugin (aka Hue2)
ecobee thermostat plugin
which need internet access

while the Edge has:
Vera WWN
Plantlink
Thinking Cleaner

So I am down to the ecobee and the Hue 2 plugins as potential apps causing the luup reloads and I am most suspicious of the Hue2 since the ecobee plugin only ping the API every few minutes and I am always getting instant luup reloads when my WAN is down. I will submit a ticket but this appears to major room for improvement for this plugin. The issue I have with these spontaneous luup reloads is that they tend to leave my Vera in error and unuseable state going into reload luups and when it stops I often get "Error is scenes or startup Lua" which goes away after another manual luup reload.

Hi Rafale,  thanks for your update. I also had a lot of luup reloads making my VeraPlus completely unreliable. Vera support installed a new zwave chip software (4.61) 3 weeks ago and since then the reloads are almost non existing anymore. The Plus works again as it should including the Hue 2 plugin. I have several Hue bulbs. The only disadvantage is I cant restore  backups myself, only support can fo this. This should be fixed in the next firmwsre update.
My VeraPlus is still on 1.7.2935. I don't dare to upgrade to 3532 because I read Hue plugin does not function anymore. On which firmware version is your VeraPlus and does Hue 2 still function (besides the reloads?

Hi Rafale,  thanks for your update. I also had a lot of luup reloads making my VeraPlus completely unreliable. interesting... Not quite understanding how the zwave chip firmware could affect this since I assume the edge uses the same. I am running 3501/3500 on my units right now.

I'm on 1.7.3532 on my Vera Plus and having zero troubles with Hue2 plugin (version 1.21.0).

It is not about having troubles with the plugin. It is the plugin forcing Luup reloads when the internet is disconnected. The Plugin could be better written to just have a periodic connection retries instead of forcing the entire UI7 to do a luup reload. That being said, you are running an older version of the plugin which may be still connecting locally instead of going through the Phillips Hue cloud API... How did you get 1.21 loaded?

Ah sorry, I looked at the wrong place :o My bridge firmware version is 1.21.0 and the Hue2 plugin version is 1.28.

But my point remains: I don't have many Luup reloads. Plugin works fine on my Vera Plus.

Well, as of the end of last week (22-25th of Feb) all my Hue lamps stopped working. Tried uninstalling the plugin, reinstalled, deleted all lua files and so on... Nothing works. I can add the bridge in Hue plugin but no lamps are added.

Anyone got a solution?

Vera Plus (EU): 1.7.3501
Hue Bridge: 2.19.0 (5558)

This was the last drop. Now I'm ordering an Athom Homey! Another Vera is now for sale in Sweden  8)
(I know. It's not Vera's fault, neither the plugin author's. But, the Vera is so limited in many ways so that's the reason for me giving up.)

1.69 is also not working. It goes a little further but I noticed that it killed my Ecobee app and is not able to pair. It hangs at "continuing configuration" after I keyed in the IP address of my Hue Hub2

I really hope that MCV can get this straightened out before July when Hue releases their outdoor product line.  I upgraded to 1.69 from 1.28 (stupid i know) and when my internet went out yesterday it killed my VeraPlus.

The only inconvenience to  1.69 plugin version is the fact that if you lose your internet connection and the connection the with the HUE cloud, the HUE devices will be removed from Vera as well. But under no circumstance will affect other devices or even worse, kill a Vera unit altogether. This is not possible, and if you think this is because of a plugin, please see my signature for contact details of our Customer Care team, to help you out.

Sorin,

I have submitted a ticket a long time ago and to be honest Customer Service has not been very helpful getting me to go around in circles. I am back on 1.28. After I installed 1.69, all my ecobee devices were wiped out and the ecobee app would not connect to the ecobee API. Neither would the hue app connect to the hue api. The inconvenience you are describing makes the upgrade moot. The goal is for the connection to remain local. I know it is possible since I have other platforms login to the hue api but would continue to work during an internet disruption as they would go straight to the hub for all the other commands.

How were you able to go back to version 1.28?  Would you share the steps that would make this possible?

I had vera look into mine as it had "hue2 startup plug-in" constantly on screen and wouldn't add any new hu2 bulbs. They fixed it perfectly somehow but now all my light names and custom pleg programming needs to be reconfigured so it seems like a hard reset.. really annoying as I'm running quite a few hue bulbs and had to just turn off manually for the last few weeks the bedside and nightlight ones which is counterproductive but for anyone having hue2 plug-in issues just get onto Vera support they seem to be aware of the issue and can fix it, well restart the plug-in (not sure if same affect of uninstalling and reinstalling plug-in but I thought best left in their hands)

I would recommend trying to go back to 1.28 or move to the plugin created by amg0...

I'm not sure whats happened but vera keeps reporting that it can't detect my device. It just started a few days ago. What a pain in the butt.  >:(

Try the ALTHue App instead... This is what happens if you rely on the cloud...

Will do! I didn't know that a new one had been written. Thanks for the info.

Thank you to the author of that plugin. There's lots of data to see. I appreciate the work!

i presume that one would have to uninstall the Phillips HUE app.  Correct?

AltHue is a finally working piugin for the Hue system !
It's working far better than the original one (never worked fine on my box).
You can even use the hue devices in your scenario like any other devices.
Great job done by the dev :)
