Is this sensor directly exposed to the elements, or can it be in a protected location? Do you have extreme temperatures? I've used the Everspring ST-814 under a covered patio and in a remote shop building. I choose these because they also had an LCD readout for humans. The sensor in the shop provides the same functionality you describe and I have a couple of scenes that will either turn on the shop AC if the temperature gets above 95F, or turn on the heat if the temperature is below 35F, when the shop is unoccupied.

I've also used the Dome Door Sensor Pro, which has a temperature sensor and is Z-Wave Plus in similar locations, as well as the Aeotec Multisensor 6 in case you need everything.
Automating a whole house fan can be easier LOL.  But... when I controlled it just with temperature, it would pull in some massively soggy air during heat waves (like we are going through recently in California).

Glad to see you are taking home security seriously and not trusting it to some company that may not be here tomorrow.
In my opinion, DSC is the system to go with but not only because I sell and install them, but because I use them in my own home and they work great with Vera via the Envisalink network adapter.
Here is a previous topic on where to get them in the UK. Hopefully these sellers are still in business.

Good luck with your new DSC system.
I use this to control two attic fans. No need to complicate things to connect to vera

RANCO ETC-111000 Digital Cold Temperature Control NEW

I have both set to turn on when the attic temp reaches 90F and turn off at 85F

Easy to install

Geofencing in vera now uses google location services.  PLUS, I believe android 8.0 limits how apps allowed to work in the background function.  Without modifications to the vera app, it will be drastically limited on how many requests for location it can make in a given time period.  I have no idea what the limitations are but I do know it has made geofencing with the Vera app on a device with android 8.0 useless....unworkable and frankly annoying.  Nothing like coming home at having a scene kick in 10 minutes after breaching the geofence.

I have spent hours trying to tweak the vera app and how it works on my S7.  I have given up.  I believe Vera has to re-write the app to regain reliable/native geofencing.

I am new on this forum and in addition I do not master English, I translate doc by Google translate. Please excuse me.

When it comes to geofencing you're absolutely right, Vera uses Google's location services.

I am under Android 7.0 and since this version, Google has introduced a battery saving system and since the location is a large consumer of energy the location is done in a wider area.
As a result, if I put a 500-meter turning radius in my moving car, <a> outside> nothing happens. Arriving at the supermarket car park, which is 10 kilometers away and the car is stopped, the geolocation system reacts.
Like the return he reacts after 10 minutes, so, like you, completely useless.

Personally I activate my Vera Secure starting from my house with the Minimote when I come back and I also deactivate with the Minimote.
The system is seriously to review.

Have a good day

For reason unbeknownst to me, my Vera Plus has become quite stable and very snappy now that devices are reliably connected even though one of my relays for my pool pumps becomes disconnected but still gets the commands.

I mean responsiveness is night and day now on my tablet control panel using ImperiHome or via the web GUI..

This is only the start...we aim to have the fastest, smallest controller for you guys!

Another way to do it is to use the inexpensive Xiaomi sensors with mqtt.  See for a sample.  This is a bit of a hack, but the senors are cheap and well constructed.  In my experience the sensors appear to be quite reliable, but the range is not as good as Z-Wave senors.  Xiaomi sensors are almost Zigbee - they can't be used directly with most Zigbee systems, but with a bit of hacking they can be made to work as in that github project.

Currently I'm going roundabout with Xiaomi to their gateway (internet blocked) to openHAB to openLuup/Vera, but I will be trying the more direct mqtt in the future.
I'm 99% done integrating my 1832 panel and my Vera device.  I have signed up for Vera Protect for monitoring but am wondering what happens if the panic buttons (fire, medical, police) on the KEYPAD are pressed?   The DSC system will certainly go into it's alarm active mode, however, does the DSC plugin automatically signal the Vera panic modes, too?    I don't see an option in a scene setup to detect panic status, so I'm hoping it just happens automatically.   I should have tested it before enabling vera protect but now I don't want to send false alarms to my local emergency crews.

We do our alarm arming/disarming via the DSC keypad, so I've setup scenes to sync the Vera modes properly for monitoring.   I have a manual scene I can run on the vera app to arm/disarm the alarm from the app, but we'll usually use the keypad for that.

If there's a fire and someone runs to the keypad and holds down the fire button, I want to know that the DSC 1832 alarm panel panic mode will be properly translated to a Vera call for fire help.

Program Logic Plugins / Need help making roku plugin a trigger in PLEG
« Last post by statix73 on Today at 08:41:23 am »
Hi all

I would like to create a scene where if my roku device is playing at night and a certain motion sensor detects motion then the roku will be paused. I can't seem to be able to see any event types in the drop down box when trying to make the Roku plugin into a trigger.
I am able to create the scene without the Roku plugin being a trigger but the issue with that is if the tv is turned off and the motion detector is triggered the tv will turn on. I would also like to create the same kind of scene for Kodi.

I use the fibaro universal sensor for outide temperature measurements.
Working fine for over 3 years.
