Google Home/Google Assistant - Vera Concierge / Re: Vera Concierge is dead?
« Last post by ninkasi on May 23, 2018, 01:51:29 am »
As it turns out, it appears to be a very obscure problem with my router.  Its a Ubituiti EdgeRouter lite.  It seemingly 'swallows' the URL request   If I connect my laptop or Pi to my cell phone AP, it works.  If I swap out the router for a Netgear router, it works.  I've engaged Ubiquiti support, and they're working the problem.

Weird. I actually have one of those and don't have any issues. FWIW Currently running EdgeOSv1.10.0

Is it possible that the dns that the ubiquiti is using (in the web interface, via services/dhcp/actions/view details) is different from that your Netgear router or cell phone might use, so it's having issues with resolving server names?

Google Home/Google Assistant - Vera Concierge / Re: broadlink
« Last post by ninkasi on May 23, 2018, 01:36:59 am »
...so got my second RM Pro and now I have two devices - one (433 only with temp sensor) DevType 9863, and the new one (433 and 315, no temp sensor) DevType 9885. Both are showing SupportsRF as false. I can manually change that to true, but it resets if I do a discover devices.

Have now tried to control 433 and a 315 devices by manually editing the BroadlinkCommandSets.json file, with no luck. Works fine using e-Control. Interestingly with the current (2.029) version of Concierge, after modifying SupportsRF to true the record RF button doesn't appear any more.

My best bet is that the Broadlink device is not being identified properly (hence not supporting RF) and thus it's simply not working. Ah well. As Richard has said before, RF support is a 'work in progress'.

My point is this. We paid a fairly small fee for the Vera device. They can only hire enough developers/support people from that initial money (and I think I remember hearing something about a small commercial services side). That is why we get features/bug fixes/etc at the speed at which we do.

Well, I understand the Devil's advocate's perspective, but if you really contemplate the strategy here, it's that the development and support is what sells people on buying this device initially. At least that's what sold me on "upgrading" from the Vera 3 to the Vera Plus. Those sales offer a continued income for development. What really ticks me off is that they seem more focused on said strategy and enticing people to make new purchases rather than supporting their established customer base. This is plainly illustrated by the numerous problems we have been expressing here.
That's great that your limited installation has not experienced any technical difficulties, but since I discovered that features that I already had with the previous iteration of the unit were eliminated in the most recent build, I felt a little jilted and betrayed. It's not like I expect the latest version to start washing my dishes or something -- just keep doing what it does already and at a faster pace. Not unrealistic expectations if you ask me (and most others here).

And to add to Quixote's insightful comments, I also disagree that we paid a "small fee" for these. Given the fact that the hardware can be built for <$40 and I paid $200 for it (Yes I have also a superior hardware setup in the pine64 which has >6x faster CPU, 8x more RAM, 1000x more storage, with the zwave module, I paid $50), we already paid a large premium for the support and software. For comparison let's look at a Sonos Play 1 for example... It has more storage, more memory, more CPU and it is a speaker! Has software development, support and marketing etc... The vera is not cheap. It is just went on the market early and got a lot of us hooked.
For MCV to charge a fee, their service would have to work nearly flawlessly from the get go which... it is nowhere close to be. I appreciate all the support team's work but again, wish it was never needed in the first place and don't think it should have been. So I understand people leaving... and no charging a monthly fee is not the answer.

Bet this is the problem:
Code: [Select]
Solar Meter_debug: 20180523,09:20,NaN,NaN,11484,945,NaN,20.1,NaNThe 3rd and 4th fields are "NaN", but the plugin wants to use these as Watts and DayKWH.  Maybe the plugin can convert these to 0's instead of trying to process them?  I'm curious as to exactly why it chokes.  Maybe the pcall isn't happy for some reason.  The AltUI test window is okay with this under openLuup, but NaN behavior does seem to vary among systems.

Upgrading / Re: Failed upgrade on Vera 3 - flashing green/orange

Totally agree, don't even think of trying to take matters into your own hands - I am 1.5 weeks into a messed up setup because of that (and all I did was select a simple reset network option which completely imploded).

Best advice is for you to contact Customer Care, they have the recovery well rehearsed now.

Upgrading / Failed upgrade on Vera 3 - flashing green/orange
« Last post by GT! on May 22, 2018, 07:34:33 pm »
Upgrade from https:/home.getvera.com stopped working months ago due to lack of storage so was never able to move ahead.  So today the Vera mobile app (Android) notified me of the available update and I foolishly said yes to go ahead.  You know the rest ?
So question ? what is the best way to recover from this?  Searches yielded links to Vera firmware recovery tool that apparently only works on Windows XP (which has been an unsupported OS for years)?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi,
In the Plug in settings change the Log level to debug and hit Save Changes. Then look at the log file again. Search for lines with 'Solar Meter' or 'SolarMeter' in them right after the luup engine has reloaded.

Cheers Rene

ok, here's what I think you are after - I've hashed out my API key and System ID:
