Title: Introducing : ImperiHome for Android 4.0+
Post by: ImperiHome on November 06, 2012, 07:37:03 am
Hi there,

I'm happy to present ImperiHome, a new home automation android app that supports several home automation systems, including Vera's.
(and to introduce us in one sentence ;) : we are two home automation enthusiasts coming from France, and developing ImperiHome on our free time since this summer)

Some features of this vera first version :

Most common devices are supported, but some are still missing for now (Shutter modules or power meters for example).

On the play store you can search for ImperiHome (it's free)

Please feel free to give us your feedbacks, suggestions, encountered bugs here :)

Best regards,

ImperiHome Team

Cool.  Looks great.

A few suggestions:
a) an indicator for lots of rooms in a house
I have a lot of rooms setup.  I love how you can flick left/right to navigate through them, and see the next/previous ones but I don't get a sense for how far through the list I am.  Perhaps putting "Living room (4/12)" might help in this.

b) devices that aren't understood don't shoe up at all.
It would be nice to have a stub representation for all devices, if if you don't currently support them.

c) energy metering devices don't show up.
I have 14 of these and it would be handy if there was a display for them.

d) alarm panel devices (DSC, Paradox, GE etc) are missing
Adding basic support for these would be awesome.

Overall i love the simple navigation, and clean ui.  Great job!

Hi there,

I'm happy to present ImperiHome, a new home automation android app that supports several home automation systems, including Vera's.

Hello! and welcome. It is good to know that people are writing code for Vera/Z wave products.

I have an app idea for you, if you will.  I am an installer of Veras and various Z wave devices. I am pretty sure they're others who install as well.

One of the biggest problems that I have is finding a controller that is as reliable as (virtually) any of the apps written for either platform (Are cell phone OS's platforms? Hmmm.)

The other problem is finding an app that looks as "pretty" as say a control4 screen.

The need is for some type of a tablet/ipad etc, is to make them become a controller (but use the LAN/WAN instead of being a "controller."  I have tried a few remotes and a couple wall type switch controllers, all overall are not reliable and not as configurable as the Vera.  But, I do notice that the apps all work well and are reliable.

In one situation, we opted to install an iPad mounted to the wall.  But the issues were:

Mounting it to the wall - no real elegant solution out there
Clients didn't like the size of it. (Too big)
The "blan" UI - Biggest dislike to apps.

And a few other things.  Point is they didn't like it.  But with all the tablets out there (and cell phones I guess,) it would be great to use that as a controller, but the app look "pretty"  And I quite mean that.  The client has no interest in configuring adding/changing etc, they call us for that.

Anyhow, I think I am rambling now, but something to think about.  Also as I am an installer a charge for such an app would be justified as I'm making some money, so why shouldn't you :)

However!  I did d/l your app, looks good but (and please do not take offense), the vera app is really (IMHO) is about the best I've seen for reliability and I really like the command sent/not sent response on the device.  But like most apps the UI is not "pretty" enough.

Keep on coding!

Got a chance to download it to my HP Touchpad running CM9 (ICS)

I like the simple lay out per room with just a flick of the finger going to next or previous. I do agree a room 6 of 18 like indicator would be helpful. As would perhaps a drop down allowing you to pick a room directly.

Some hiccups I found.
It does not recognize/display my Trane thermostat.
It shows icons for my 4 Foscam FI8910W cameras/sensors but will not display an image/stream from any of them (not even on the home network) It responds with an 'unable to read stream' error. It seems to see the sensors trip though. AuthomationHD on the same device does correctly display the camera feeds. As does Vera Mobile on iOS devices.

Nice start though and definitely has potential. Thanks for making it available.

I took my tablet to work today and noticed Imperihome was updated. I tried to access my camera's from work and lo and behold, they work and show full screen. Refreshes about every 8 seconds (slow public wifi at work)  Thank you, the update could not have come at a better time as it allowed me to keep an eye on my pup. Job well done!

Not to be greedy but any chance of access to the 6 presets for the camera's?

Thanks a lot ! Glad to see you like the app.

You're not greedy ;) This is a good idea, we already have in our todo list one item about the PTZ support, i'm adding the presets to it.

We'll weep you updated :)

As announced earlier, it's now done!
ImperiHome v1.3.0 is available on Google Play.

Multi-box, support of Android 2.3+, and many other features are present in this release.

Camera presets are there and working. Thank you!
The drop down menu to pick a room directly is also much appreciated.

When looking at the about that shows the release info, only the headers are visible. Then a lot of blank space until the next header. Could this be a font color issue.

When running it for extended periods of time, eg several hours, the retrieval of images stops and can only be restarted by going to settings and forcing a stop of ImperiHome. Then restarting the app makes it function perfectly again.

Running on an 32GB HP Touchpad with CM9 (october nigtly)

Thanks again for the reponse to everyone's suggestions.

Weird indeed. What version of Android are you running? Would you be able to share a screenshot?

What do you call "retrieval of images"?

I basically take the tablet to work, hook it up to the charger and use our public Wifi to have it load images from my Foscam 8920W IP camera continiusly so I can keep an eye on my puppy. The app refreshes the image about every 10 seconds or so (our public WiFi is not the fastest) After a while, it will just stop getting images. I can see the circle at the top right working but no new image is loaded, it just keeps circling. I checked with my iPhone when this happens and confirmed the WiFi is working and VeraMobile on my iPhone can get an image from the same camera.

The Android version I am running is CyanogenMod 9 (October nightly) which is a version/port of IceCreamSandwich. More info on CyanogemMod 9 can be found at www.cyanogenmod.org and http://rootzwiki.com/forum/232-hp-touchpad-android-development/

My HP Touchpad tablet originally ran WebOS but CyanogenMod made available their CM9 (ICS) port for it. I'm not excluding the above issue could be a CM9 issue.

I figured out the camera moving. Just tap the screen and drag up, down, left or right. Very nice.

Another suggestion. Is it possible in the settings to set the default room to start with? I'd like ImperiHome to start with the room that has my cameras instead of with the first room.

I've attached a screenshot of the changelog popup as requested.

I noticed the app is not showing my Trane TZEMT400AB32 thermostat and it is not in hidden devices.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for this very detailed feedback! Very appreciated!

I see. We're gonna check if we do not have some never-ending threads somewhere in the app that could cause such freeze.

Indeed, it could be the the root cause of the issue, although it will be difficult to be sure of it. But we will check anway.

Another suggestion. Is it possible in the settings to set the default room to start with? I'd like ImperiHome to start with the room that has my cameras instead of with the first room.
I like your idea. With your permission, I just logged it in our tracking system ;-)
In the meantime, you may have noticed that when the application starts, the last group selected before the switch off will be selected again.

I've attached a screenshot of the changelog popup as requested.
Thanks for that! Indeed, we have an issue here... Bug logged.

I noticed the app is not showing my Trane TZEMT400AB32 thermostat and it is not in hidden devices.
Indeed, this device is not supported yet. However, it has already been requested by other users and is logged with a high priority. So, stay tuned, it should come out soon!

Thanks again for this valuable feedback!

For some reason it does not seem to do that for me. This again, may or may not be CM9 related. No biggie if you coudl put it in the settings, I'd be very happy.

Thank you. It is quite a popular thermostat here in the US, especially as it was clearenced out a little over a year ago for a very low price.

Thank you for making this app available to us. Although I now have a very hard time picking a favorite between your and Garrett's apps. :-) Although as far as supporting the camera I think Imperihome is definitely at the head of the pack. Good thing I have a 2nd Touchpad. I may have to have both on the coffee table. One running ImperiHome and the other AuthomationHD.  :P

When you add urn:schemas-micasaverde-com:device:DoorSensor:1 class and urn:schemas-micasaverde-com:device:WindowCovering:1 class ?
Its stopping me from using  your app.

Hi,
This looks like a very nice start - congratulations  :).
One issue I've noticed though is that dimmers seem to show 0% even when they are on. If I change the light level, it will show the correct %, but if I change to another screen, and then come back, it's back to 0% again.

Cheers

Hello all,

It's done!
Since a few hours, ImperiHome 1.4.0 has been published on Google Play: http://goo.gl/42MLx/

The two main features of this version are the support of eedomus and the brand new module of integrated and generic graphs.

However, plenty of other "smaller" features have been released as well, part of them having been requested in this forum:

Specifically for you, Vera users, the following is now available:

We hope you'll like this new version and, as usual, don't hesitate to send us your feedback!

Hello,

Thank you for your message.
Indeed, version 1.4 suffered some serious issues to interact with Vera systems. However, it should be fixed in version 1.4.3.
Could you please check in the About panel of ImperiHome the version currently installed on your device?
If it's not 1.4.3, please run an update through Google Play and check it solves your issue.
However, if you already are in 1.4.3, then we have a bigger issue ;-)

In all cases, please let us know.

Thank you for your help.

Sorry to say that I am running 1.4.3 and the problem still exists...

I also note that the graphing did not work with 1.4.0 - this may be something at my end as I understand you interface to dataMine, and I'm probably not running the same version as you. However, the data extract part of dataMine has not changed, so I assume it should work... I've not tried to debug this...

Sorry to say that I am running 1.4.3 and the problem still exists...
OK, so we have  problem then.
In version 1.4.3, we also introduced a new capability : be able to send logs extract to ImperiHome.
This action is located in the general ImperiHome preferences panel.
It would really help us if you could click on this action as we could analyze what happens exactly.
If you agree to do it, please leave us a message on contact@imperihome.com to start a dedicated debugging thread with you.

I also note that the graphing did not work with 1.4.0 - this may be something at my end as I understand you interface to dataMine, and I'm probably not running the same version as you. Indeed, we are interfacing datamine.
As for above, a logs extract could help us to diagnose the issue.

Thank you for your help and sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Some new features not Vera specific are also available such as:

cool im gonna try it on my dell streak,s3 and tab2 and let you know if i have any feedback :)

edit :
easy installation. just go to settings and delete the demo thing and add vera using login.
  ip-cam unable to read stream
nfc tagging > using sony xperia tag > works..
nfc tag opens group or camera .. wrong groups are selected. using it for actuators does not work, this is what you want.. the group thing is really useless like this, make it so one can use tag to
activate a actuactor instead would be nice. for example i have a dooropener which runs for 5 secs when i activate it, after it will stop. when activated it uses trigger for a scene to tell my pc to
speak to me about the thing being activated and i have a scene that will run on smokealarm and activate the dooropener. if i make a scene to activate the dooropener vera would get confused
and crash or put in too much delay. i like to switch on devices with a nfc coz there cheap and it works :) i could put a tag on my frontdoor and use it to open it automaticly .. pretty nice imho..

the nfc add-on is really a usefull feature, app works pretty stable.
perhaps you can integrate gps and voice/nfc activation for single devices ?

Just installed Imperihome on my HST-IWAC. Great work........

Couple suggestions:

1) The TSTAT's display the temperature but have the word null after the degree symbol.
2) Full security panel information. I would like to be able to arm and disarm my security panel and monitor the zones. The zones do show up currently in Imperihome. See attached photo.

Hi all!

Found no other fitting topic, so here my question / problem:

I'm using jbmedia LightManager connected with a Wifi-Bridge. For controlling all my actors (eg. lights, curtains, fountains, ...) I'd like to use the IMPERIHOME App for Android.

After installation on a SAMSUNG Galaxy Note 10.1 (running Android 4.1.2) as well as on a SAMSUNG Galaxy S3 (also running Android 4.1.2), starting the App, and setting up the IP of the Wifi-Bridge, also Login-User and Password, I get the message "connnection in progress" and a few seconds later the Wifi-Bridge is identified with the correct resolved hostname.

After that, tipping FINISH, I always get the message: "WIFIBRIDGE.home (LightManager): Error getting config from LightManager)"

This is happening on both devices - tablet and smartphone.
IP-Connection is OK, because using the browser on both devices does a perfekt job. Not only in the LAN, but also over the air (using dyndns and port forwarding) everything works perfekt using a browser.

I am at the end with my knowledge ...
Also google doesn't know anything about the error message: "(LightManager): Error getting config from LightManager)"

Anybody with an idea or the same problem?

Thanks and best regards from Austria / Tyrol
Werner

some marriage between AutHomautionHD would be awesome ...
but your app is by far better as its react alot faster and its way the switches are handled are better.

perfect would be in landscape mode to have the option to "hide" the the "switch all" bar on the left and maybe have 2 switches in one line.

and a option to "sort" items manually ...

You said it worked for a while. Did you change someting since? (upgrade of Android version, installation of custom mods ...).
Did you notice the change since the update to version 1.8.0 ?
I suppose you already tried, but did you reboot completely your device?

but now as you mention it, the device did serval updates of preinstalled apps.
i will reset it again an just install ImperiHome for a test

I've found that when triggering scenes from short cuts that the main all does not alway then display the status of a device correctly I.e a light is turned on but the status in the app shows it's off. Even after reloading the devices it still displays incorrectly and pressing the on off button for the device just changes status to on (where it should be), pressed again it turns off and actually does turn off device making the logic correct again. I've also noticed a few times the app shows each device three times but this fixes with a reload.

The latets incarnation sof ImperiHome no longer have a blank 'new in this version' dial;og but are actually showing me changes correctly. Thank you for that.

I just purchased a Tronsmart MK908 Android stick that hooks up to my TV. ImperiHome works fine on it except when trying to access any of my Foscam 8910W camera's.. It lists them, but attempting to access the video, the app just its there trying to stream showng the little rotating circle. (FTR, this works without an issue on my Touchpad with CyanogenMod9) I checked and AuthomationHD on the Tronsmart has no problem accessing the cameras. Any ideas?

Tech specs for the Android stick:
OS: Google Android 4.2.2 (Flash 11.X: HTML5)
CPU: Rk3188 Quad Core 1.6ghz, max 1.8Ghz(maximum data from manufacturer for CPU - only) (Cortex-A9)
GPU: Quad Core Mali 400
RAM: DDR3 2GB; ROM: On board NAND Flash 8G (Android system itself and other user data will take some space)

I can't see in Imperihome a Heater Actuator (Secure SSR303) . The specific are :

Version   6,2,78,2,0

I see only the degree relative to thermostat and I can't see the On/Off button of Heater.

To add to S-F comments, just lumping some other plugin support requests:

* Power Arithmetic (Energy Meter) http://apps.mios.com/plugin.php?id=4486
* Simple Alarm http://apps.mios.com/plugin.php?id=6036
* OpenSprinkler http://apps.mios.com/plugin.php?id=4356
* Russound http://apps.mios.com/plugin.php?id=4296
* Weather Underground (current conditions) http://apps.mios.com/plugin.php?id=45

Also, could you support Door Locks in your composite security device...that would be awesome.

Title: Re: Introducing : ImperiHome for Android 4.0+
Post by: AgileHumor on April 07, 2014, 12:17:53 am
Also, some feature requests after using the dashboards for a few hours:

* Have Composite Security device either be clickable to another dashboard page (and I can make a summary dashboard page for those sensors)...or show what devices are causing the composite device to show tripped (like a summary page that you don't need to create a webpage).  Currently nothing when click on this valuable real estate of the composite security device.

* Support Door Locks in your composite security device

* Option to switch to the " Home" dashboard page after screen timeout...not the last dashboard page that was viewed.

* Support Full Screen Camera Access from Rest API

* Allow you to associate motion sensors to a Camera.  When motion sensor is tripped, the camera dashboard widget should blink red.   You can also use the RelatedSensors variable in Vera for the camera in Vera if you want to pre-populate.

Hello all,

You're right. We are not present as much as we would like on the different forums we are mentioned in.
But we are still alive and committed to make ImperiHome evolve!

For our Vera users, the main current problem is the compatibility with UI6.
We are currently working on it but it takes some time as changes are quite significant. We are even in contact with Vera development team to help us in this process.

Finally, we encourage you to contact us directly at support@imperihome.com should you experience issues.
Indeed, this e-mail address is directly plugged to our Customer Support system and are much more active on this thread.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,

The ImperiHome Team.

Do you have any plans to include support for the NorthQ Watt Calculator plugin?

Would be nice since the NorthQ unit itself dosnen't show consumption just the current meter standning.
Don't think it's to hard to add, i get the values to my own android app via http like any other device.

ImperiHome (on either my Touchpad with CM9 or my LG G2) is not showing my Foscam FI9821W V2 as an available camera. In fact it appears not to be seeing it at all.  AuthomationHD recognizes it correctly and displays the picture on both Android units. Vera also shows the camera correctly.

From the camera settings tab in Vera
URL                       /cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=user&pwd=VerySecret1

From the camera advanced settings tab in Vera

Hello,

Indeed, for DigitalSecurityCamera:2, we are a bit too restrictive and check what is the impl_file value.
We just changed a bit the code to try something whatever the value of this attribute is. This will be part of the next update.
No guarantee it will work out of the box, but can't be worse!

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

I'm not sure you'll get this soon @ImperiHome, but here it goes anyways..

I use @GarrettWP's ISY plugin and an ISY controller with some insteon gear. He imports the fanLinks as actual fan controllers (a new device type I think which have Off, Low, Med, and High) and they do not show up in ImperiHome. Is there any chance that ImperiHome could support this device type? I can of course give you any information you need on the device if you tell me how to get it.

Thanks!

Hmmm, could maybe be integrated quickly in ImperiHome using what we call a MultiSwitch widget (a switch with more than two values basically).
Please send us an e-mail at support@imperihome.com with your Vera data highlighting the the part of this device (its name should be enough to find it).

Would it be possible to integrate the "simple alarm" plugin?
It consists in a 3 states switch (disam/arm away/arm home), a label containing these states and events and a countdown.
Thank you and keep on the good work!

Hi,

I've added all three MiLight plugins to Vera and have a LED light strip working on the MiLightRGBW and a single 9W bulb working on the MiLightWhite. In ImperiHome though, if I add a new widget to the dashboard, only the MiLightRGBW shows up with 6 widgets available. The 'Hall' zone that contains the MiLightWhite bulb says it's empty. That bulb can be controlled though Vera UI however.

Am I doing something wrong or is it just not supported yet?

I have ImperiHome running constantly on a tablet for Vera and DSC alarm system control. The "device refresh" activity is "irritating" especially for the alarm arm/disarm status indicator --- i'm using the Red/White Wifi antenna.

Because you have the ImperiHome Vera Plugin could I suggest that instead of using Android app "pull" refresh you use the Vera Plugin to "push" the status changes?

@tomtcom: Thanks for posting the contents. I'm in the US but didn't get any email. At least now I know we'll have an outage window tomorrow.

Hi,

We also got this scheduled downtime email for our UI5 mios account.
Unfortunately, for now we do not know if UI7 APIs will be different from UI5 or UI6 ones, if remote access will work the same or not.

Best regards,

Thanks for the info.

Hello ImperiHome -

Vera did their network maintenance upgrade. As a result they changed the login URL's from us-relay11.mios.com to vera-us-oem-relay11.mios.com.

Can you publish and update or check on this? The app isn't working anymore.

I confirm... Thanks for pointing this. This is a problem on our side : server change should have been transparent.

Working on this...

Forgot to mention that the problem only affects UI6 users, perhaps are you using UI5 ?

Just published a fix on the public beta branch (if you want to test, instructions on applying for the beta are here : https://imperihome.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203063998 )
As soon as confirmed working we will publish the fix in mainstream

Best,

I have a problem with graph data for sensors.
datamine plugin works perfectly and its files are located on a NAS server
When I click on a sensor in ImperiHome I get "Error while loading graph data"

How to fix this?

Hi, I am seeing this too.  Is there any update on a cause?

HI
I am some times experiencing this as well. My findings are that it is related to network traffic and time out settings on the app. If my connection between the app and the NAS is not so good or the graph that i am trying to call contains a lot of data points, than i get this error.

Otherwise all is Ok. Maybe this helps you to troubleshoot..

Hello new to Vera. Moving from Nexia and been playing with the Vera 3 this weekend.
Loaded the ImperiHome when I was on UI5 and then UI6. Not sure what happened but the Vera 3 got upgraded to UI7. And obviously the greatest app I have ever used 'ImperiHome' stopped working.

Please tell me UI7 is coming or I will get the Vera controller downgraded to UI6.

Thanks,
Mark

You may want to downgrade Vera to UI5 even as that one is way more stable than UI6. Unless you need something UI6 offers. I can confirm Imperihome works with UI5.

It should also work with UI7. Check the servers it is using. That may be what is causing your problems.
