Title: Monoprice (Vision ZP3102) motion sensor scene issue.
Post by: 3Deye on January 08, 2015, 02:07:01 am
Hi,

I have the monoprice sensor (or Vision zp3102) and I am testing it now. I changed the 3 min trigger time to 1 minute since the test jumper is not working.

I want to use it to keep the light on in my room while i am inside and turn it off when i leave. I set up a scene in vera edge to do this. When I enter the room the light is switched on for 1 minute and if i keep moving it stays on, but if i lay on the bed, it couldn't detect my presense even if i wave slowly with my hands. I have to get up so it can detect my presense.

How can I solve this issue?

Is there another type of sensors for this application?

is moving the sensor closer to your bed an option?  Maybe a second sensor? Just throwing out ideas.

If you move in your sleep, won't it turn on the light?

I was thinking to set mine to require manually turning on the light but turn off the light automatically if no motion is detected for X minutes.

The sensor is about 1.5 meters from the bed.

I think manually turning on the light as you suggested is suitable for me. Thank you.

The issue is that I might still be awake in bed and the sensor can't detect me, so it will turn off the light.

I read about the occupancy/vacancy sensors but didn't get the difference between them and the motion sensor I have, can anybody tell me If they're suitable for my application or not?

If the sensor is about 1.5 meters from your bed how high is it mounted? It may be mounted to hight and not 'seeying' you when you lay in bed.
Have you tried moving it lower on the wall and if so, did that help?
