Sorry to unearth an old thread.  But I am trying to get my USB/Serial cable to be recognized by My Veralite on UI7.  I am trying to follow the instructions in the first post, but my lack of knowledge with linux leaves me at a disadvantage.

I am ssh'd iinto my vera and ran the commands
 run dmesg > /tmp/dmesg-pre
 - plug your adapter into Vera's usb port
 - run dmesg > /tmp/dmesg-post
 - run diff -u /tmp/dmesg-pre /tmp/dmesg-post

I then get this:
--- /tmp/dmesg-pre
+++ /tmp/dmesg-post

+pl2303 2-1:1.0: pl2303 converter detected

Does this mean it is working?  I ask because I don't see a Vera device for the serial/usb cable....should I?
