GE fan switch not working correctly anymore?
« on: March 18, 2017, 07:21:09 pm »
I have 3 of them attached to ceiling fans. they have all worked fine until yesterday.
the one in the bedroom is always at 100%
if i adjust down to say 20 percent, it slows for a second and then goes right back to 100%

is the switch toast? anyone else have this happen before?

Have you tried excluding and re-including it  and seeing if this still happens?

I have one and it is working fine.  I control the speed of my fan based on the temperature.

Check the devices to see what scenes they are configured in. It's possible that there's a scene overriding your manual setting.

not to hijack man, but real quick,  i bought a fan dimmer switch(ge) on clearance from Microcenter last year ($13) score!, and I really want to place it in my bedroom.

you can wire this up to a regular switch that controls a fan (on/off)?  or do you need special control wires in the wall to the fan?   Basically, I'm asking, how does the switch tell the fan to adjust speed?

hey, you know what might help me?  basic wiring knowledge.   that's never stopped me from electrocuting myself dozens of times, tripped mains, breakers galore, setting off 3 siren/strobes at least once a week at 3am while spouse and baby slumber.

not a pleasant coffee-time the following morning from the mrs, let me tell you that.
