USB-UIRT Plugin
« on: April 17, 2011, 10:52:36 pm »
I have a usb-uirt that I would like to have Vera 2 UI4 control.  I have researched for over a week find all kinds of good articles that talks about the plug-in.  Where do you find the plugin?  I can do the lmhelp to create the codes, or use Remote Controls database but don't know what to do with it.  I need a whatever plugins are needed and a step by step instructions.  I am new to LUA and kinda lost.

IIRC the USB-UIRT should automatically add itself once you plug it in. Once plugged in, give it 20 seconds or so and then restart the MiOS engine by clicking the refresh icon at the top of the dashboard.

You can then see if there's an IR plugin thats already been created for one of your devices.

Go to the add remove devices, scrill down to IR and then click next. If you don't find what you need there, then find a close one and then create it.

If you get that far, then we can help you more...

AHHHH!!  Got it!  I have tested my Dish Network and Samsung TV.  However, the message said Failed to download all plugins waiting 10 minutes.  I am hoping it will eventually download.  If not what's going on?

In Add / Remove devices then Other uPnP was a list of the other devices on my network including my laptop, router, TV, and satellite receiver.  Can I do anything with those?

Thanks for your help.

Clear isn't in! ;)
Hopefully it will download sooner or later... Maybe try to see if one of the other plugins can download from the MiOS marketplace; you can also try the troubleshoot network in net and wifi from the advanced icon, from this you should be able to see if you can reach the download servers.

For the other uPnP devices... most likely not :)

It depends. :) Try adding the devices to your Vera, create a new scene, go to the 'Advanced' tab, select your UPnP device, 'Add', select UPnP service and action, test your scene. Firmware required: 1.1.1234 or later

I was able to load the basic WAP plugin from the marketplace.  Still can't get the usb uirt to download.  I think I read somewhere if findvera.com doesn't work then this won't work.  I can't get findvera.com to work either. I can log into mios.com and see my dashboard and logs though.   (Well... I just read where Vera 2 doesn't use findvera.  )

Something as powerful as Vera needs good documentation.  Can't find that either.

I sent a troubleshooting ticket to Vera.  Let's see how long it take them to respond!

I found D_usbirt.xml file in MIOS developers LUUP tab.  Is this what I need?

The USB plug-in should have already loaded itself so you are covered there.
Its most likely trying to download the IR plugins themselves.

I made a post in the remote forum I think about how to do make an IR plugin manually from an attached device file. I'll do a search for it (then post it here) and and you can have a go at doing yourself.

Out of interest, what version of the firmware are you using? I think there may have been some background changes recently with the MiOS marketplace and the repository that may have broken something.

Testing connection to: download1.mios.com ... OK

You are running the latest version: 1.1.1047 .

The troubleshooting tab is reporting all OK.  It seems like there are bunch of sites that MCV uses.  I saw in the troubleshooting report a IP of xx.81.1.  Don't know what that is.  That's not what I use.

So the 82.1 address is the default address that the openWRT stuff is set up for; I guess they multi home it with the IP that you either configure or the one received via DHCP. Nothing to worry about and perfectly normal!

Anyway, as I was alluding earlier, a lot of changed in the background to where these plugins are hosted and you may need to update to a newer version.... 1.1.1047 is quite old anyway and you should update:

I tried to add an IR plugin myself, and it worked fine.

I didn't know there was any.  my firmware tab said I was running the latest version.
Since you can download the IR plugin and I can't, I will upgrade the firmware and try again.  Hopefully this will solve it.

It is working now.  I sent a troubleshooting ticket to tech support.  They dialed in and corrected the problem.  All is good.

Hi,

I'm new, question when you said:

Go to the add remove devices, scrill down to IR and then click next. If you don't find what you need there, then find a close one and then create it.

Where can I find the add/remove devices in UI4?

I don't see the USB UIRT in my dashboard.

thank you
regards,
Matteo

Where can I find the add/remove devices in UI4?
In the strip above the Toolbox there are some buttons. First the Wizard, then Manage Sections, then Manage Rooms, then Add/Remove Devices, then Add Scene.
Dezwaved at the moment...

Does anyone know how do I remove the USB-UIRT from my Vera2, please?  I no longer use it and instead just have a USB powered device in Vera's port, but it tries to find the non-existant USB-UIRT each time on startup and gives an error.

Thanks.
